Om Raising a Tsushima Horse
The "Tsushima horse" is a type of horse unique to Japan's Tsushima Island. Located between Japan and South Korea in the Korea Strait is Tsushima Island. Tsushima horses are a miniature breed that has thrived in the harsh conditions of the island.
These horses are typically bay or chestnut in color, and their height ranges from 12 to 13 hands (48 to 52 inches at the shoulder). Because of their hardiness and strength, they are highly prized on Tsushima Island.
Tsushima horses have been a staple of island life for generations, serving as means of transportation, working in the fields, and, more recently, as a symbol of the island's cultural heritage. The protection and preservation of this breed has been a priority.
These horses are considered a unique and important part of the cultural and historical heritage of Tsushima Island and Japan as a whole.
