As I continued my healing process while feeling and dealing with whatever life's revealing; these lines just started running through my mind. Banging on my brain until I released them onto a page. This is a compilation of my impressions and lessons in life as I've further experienced it. They are in no particular order, as my mind tends to jump around with rhyme but no reason.

Haiku poetry, born in Japan centuries ago, has gained popularity all over the world because of its minimalist beauty and focus on nature. What attracts both readers and writers to haiku poetry is its conciseness, clarity, simplicity, and verifiability. This book is the first part of a large collection of haiku which have been written during my many years of practicing haiku poetry. A lot of the poems contained here were previously published in the world's best haiku magazines. Some received awards in international contests and some were republished in important anthologies. 129,-

Collection Overview: The Broken Spine presents The Whiskey Tree, a profound anthology that embarks on a poetic journey into the untamed heart of nature. Curated by Editor-in-Chief Alan Parry, this collection captures the raw beauty and unbridled force of the natural world. The anthology features a diverse array of voices, each contributing to a rich tapestry that weaves together the many facets of nature's wildness. Featured Poets: Among the notable contributors, Anne Walsh Donnelly's A North-Mayo Blessing paints a vivid picture of love and memory intertwined with the natural landscape. Jordan Rafferty's Doghouse evokes the stark beauty of a deserted landscape, while David Butler's Cutting the Turf delves into the rhythms of nature and human interaction. Sue Finch, in Desert Antlers, beautifully captures a moment of poignant hesitation in a vast desert, and Karen Pierce Gonzalez's Olmec Crocodile: Cipactli offers a mythic exploration of nature's primal forces. Themes and Imagery: The poems in The Whiskey Tree range from the serene to the tumultuous, reflecting the multifaceted character of nature itself. From the haunting quietude of moonlit shores to the frenetic energy of crashing waves, each poem contributes to an overarching narrative that honors the wildness of nature. Imagery of the sea, deserts, and verdant landscapes abound, offering readers a kaleidoscopic view of the natural world. Vision and Impact: Alan Parry's vision for this collection was to document the untamed and rugged aspects of nature, not just in their beauty but also in their raw, sometimes daunting power. The Whiskey Tree is more than a poetry collection; it's a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the natural world, inviting readers to step into a realm where the wild reigns supreme. Invitation to Readers: We invite you to immerse yourself in this exquisite collection, where each poem is a window into the heart of the wild. Let The Whiskey Tree take you on a journey through landscapes, exploring the profound connection between humanity and the natural world. This anthology is a testament to The Broken Spine's commitment to celebrating the beauty, power, and diversity of nature through the art of poetry. Advance Praise: 'This compelling, essential anthology maps not only the Anthropocene landscape - the world fighting back against the destructive influence of humankind - but equally importantly, the interior landscape of human thought and human emotion, rich with its own beauty, its own wildernesses. These are poems with a raw power that demands our attention. They remind us we can never be truly whole until we acknowledge the untamed landscape of the imagination within ourselves.'- John Glenday, author of The Golden Mean'Nature poetry that avoids the obvious and demands to be explored in depth.'- Henry Normal, author of The Fire Hills 'Kudos to The Broken Spine for coalescing this new thematic anthology, its accumulative reset, mining and upending the pastoral tradition of landscape poetry. Each poem builds on the next, to produce new visionary territory where body/self/word are both inside and outside of nature, a wrestling with and overturning of the elements. Gritty, explosive, heartbreaking poems distil the human condition, expanding upon our relationships to emotion/environment, whether of scenes in park edges, at highway shoulders, in the cartographies of night streets and memory, in ravaged forests, or hallucinations of dying oceans. This is a soul-sourced magic book -- stark, beautiful, hopeful and groundbreaking!'- Robert Frede Kenter, author of Audacity of Form

  • - Le chant d'amour à la déesse

    149,-

In World By Design, Norb Aikin's third book of poetry, the question of whether we truly create our own world or are living in a world created for us is posed. Existence is a balance of multiple paradoxes yearning to be uncovered; what we do with them is really the only part we get to dictate, and even then it isn't always a matter of choice. Maybe this book itself is an existential crisis clouded in a mystery of words, but you won't know if it's life-changing or not unless you read it. Your results may vary.

This work was inspired by a few people I read when I was young.Edgar Allen Poe, who probably inspired everybody to write poetry.Raph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Stevie Wonder, and other great songwriters, Later in life, a person who showed me through his writings that what I was doing was alright was Langston Hughes. It was you who showed me poetry was not something learned and adhered to, but something written from the soul, from the heart.I would like to dedicate this chapbook to the love of my life, my wife Kathleen Ann Drummond, Who died on July 31, 2023. She loved my writings and tried to push me to publish them. I always thought I would do so, perhaps after retirement... I'm so ashamed. It took her death, for me to realize how wrong I was to wait so long before fulfilling her dream. To Kathy, I dedicate this work and others that will follow to you, I only wish you were here to enjoy it with me.To my forever love, Kathleen Ann Drummond

Todd Moore was a purist at heart when it came to the art of poetry and prose. To say he took the craft of writing seriously is an understatement. The Collected Essays of Todd Moore, Volume I, is a showcase for Moore's vision of what poetry should be. To him it was more than just words on a piece of paper, it was a living, breathing entity. A poem should wreck you, it should devastate you, it should demand emotion from you. My father often remarked that a good poem should hit you like a bullet. The Collected Essays of Todd Moore, Volume I also provide an in-depth and comprehensive look at the outlaw poetry genre. He doesn't just give you a glimpse of this rebel literary movement, he makes you an insider, he breaks it down for you, he explains what it is in detail.

It's simple and complicated all at once, because that is how love is. It's beautiful and it's painful. A lot of people struggle with staying silent and feeling alone when in, or leaving, a toxic relationship. Behind To The Moon And Back is a poetry book that spreads light to the vulnerability and chaos that is navigating an imperfect relationship. All the overthinking and raw hurt simplified into brief poetry. Being in love with someone who isn't healthy for you is hard and it has it damages. So many people set the perfect illusion of a happy home when the reality of home is disastrous. This book shines light on the inner feelings of those who don't like to voice their personal struggle. Just a simple way to help others feel less alone in a rough battle. Carlie Masterson dives into personal experiences and experiences of others to talk about trauma realization and healing.

"In the realm where emotions sway, where love's sweet melodies play, there lies a tale of love's display, where tears and pain dance in the ballet." - (Brings Me to Tears) We live in a fast-paced life in the modern day. Things go by, and we often don't notice. We're stubborn, and we hurt those around us - but we don't see it. When was the last time you really said sorry AND meant it for something you did wrong? Even the smallest missteps can affect those you love. Yet, even in my own life, I've noticed that it's something that I overlook. I'm going to be completely honest - I'm stubborn. It's really not an attractive trait, and I've just been allowing myself to be this way for too long. Change - is what I need, and so many of you need it just as much. But, how do we change? Well, one answer is accountability. Do you hold yourself accountable for the things you do? With this, I present to you "I'm Sorry This Apology Took So Long...". A personal chronicle of poetry, written throughout my journey toward finding love in my life, accepting myself, and embarking on my path toward forgiveness and renewal. Poetry is a way to speak from the heart. It's a way to express ourselves, and for me, it has become a therapeutic outlet, aiding in my battle against stubbornness, a way for me to apologize to the people in my life who I've hurt. "I'm Sorry This Apology Took So Long..." invites readers into a profoundly personal odyssey of self discovery and redemption. In this poignant collection of poetry, the author bares their soul, unravelling the threads of past relationships with brutal honesty and unwavering accountability. You'll find a diverse selection of poems written in this book, ● Brings Me to Tears ● I Promised ● Accountability ● You Deserved ● Sand In Hawaii ● New Orleans, Thank You ● Next Time Will Never Come ● I Knew This Entire Time ● I Just Want to See You Win ● Dance The Night Away ● Temporary But Amazing This is only a glimpse of the many poems that you'll discover in the collection. Poems are powerful and allow me to speak to you. It's not just about perusing my verses, but also harnessing this as an opportunity to learn, grow, and become sentient together. If you find yourself in a situation where your stubbornness is getting the better of you, if you're struggling to hold yourself accountable, and seeking to take charge of your actions, then these powerful poems I share with you might be just what you need to speak to your heart. The whimsical debut collection Human Currency aims to answer the questions: What defines humanity? What makes the tangible currency of individuals? Caston takes inspiration from the classics- like Greek Mythology and Shakespeare to fuel her fire. Poems flow freely between light and airy to dark and deep, greeting us with heartfelt poetry making us question the human experience.
