Yoga/ii

Om Yoga/ii

This unexpected and touching collection of poetry roams between the vulnerability of sadness and joy expressing themselves through a love that searches continuously for its own essence. The author's words come from an uncommon place of simplicity and honesty that touches on something universal yet at once completely personal. As the title suggests, they are poems to set free that which is intangible, misunderstood or too often denied within us and within humanity, as the varied and so often apparently opposing aspects of our psyche seek for meaning and harmony. The author too comes from an unlikely place: aged eighteen she left her home country to dedicate herself to teaching the spiritual practices of Tantra Yoga, and has since resided in various parts of the world in this capacity. Her poems at once offer insight into this often misunderstood spiritual path, whilst at the same time, perhaps surprisingly and in an uncommon act of perception and balance, are free from any unnatural imposition from it. From the Editors This collection of poems was originally published in 2019 until the title Intangible Things Set Free. Due to its interest not only as a collection of poems, but also as a book of insights into the yogic path as a spiritual search, we have decided to republish it with a new title and cover, so as to make it available to those interested in this side of the book, as well as the poetic one. When written, the author, originally from New Zealand, was working as a yogic nun, and had taught and travelled in Asia, Europe, and South America in this capacity. She had chosen this path aged eighteen and had been living in this way for around fifteen years at the time. These poems, along with their literary value, serve as a record of her reflections and experiences during this period. They also serve, therefore, as a useful point of reflection for others practising yoga and meditation, or for those interested in the search for self-awareness and the processes and development of human consciousness and emotions in general. We have included the original prologue, as we believe it will also be of interest to many readers.
