After agreeing to write an essay on Wayman for the Sahitya Academy, I realized that this would be a difficult task; My fears came true. There is no doubt that some books on Vemanara are available in Telugu. But most of them take untrue myths as facts. There is only one systematic biography available in Telugu-there is no such book in English or any other language-and complacency is far from attainable.
