Om The Transparent Girl
All poetry is fiction. Through the unconscious, the central character of this book speaks to us, in the female voice, of the visible and the invisible. To the visible and the invisible of love, death, childhood, cities, misery, and the deepest traumas repressed in and by humanity. The Transparent Girl observes a world inhabited by chaos, despair and cruelty, but also by the subject's distress to be loved and understood. She, the central character, observes, without however being observed. The attempt to understand love and the world, translate the thirst to be understood, thus becoming visible to the other, or to others. The reading that Alexandra Couts made of surrealist authors during her still young maturity (or immaturity), is notorious in many of the poems that integrate The Transparent Girl. Love, death, distances, metapoetry, and eroticism continue to be recurrent and fundamental themes in the author's poetic work.
