Om The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists
The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists was one of the most influential political works of the 20th Century. Published in 1914, following the author's death in the lead up to the First World War, it was widely circulated amongst British troops during the Second World War and is credited with playing a major role in Labour's landslide victory in 1945.
With the forces of neo-liberalism intent on rolling back the Welfare State and reversing all the gains made by working people since its first publication it remains an inspiring read.
Published in support of the Working Class Movement Library, Salford.
