The Liberty Pole

Originally published as a serial novel in the Boston Globe, and then syndicated in newspapers across the US, The Liberty Pole has now been expanded into a novel. When the Revolutionary War begins, the colonists on Martha's Vineyard have no choice but to remain neutral. The British Navy commands the seas, and Vineyarders know that their little island could quickly be taken over by the British if they side with the Patriots. That doesn't stop them from working behind the scenes, though, spying on the British soldiers that frequent their pubs, and quietly sending young men off in fishing boats to join the rebel army in Boston. But, when island soldiers begin to die in battle, the Vineyard can no longer stay on the sidelines, erecting a Liberty Pole to honor the fallen and show their support for the Patriots. When a British Man of War limps into port with its main mast shattered and tries to commandeer the island's newly raised Liberty Pole, three brave young women decide it's time to take matters into their own hands.
