Om Production of pleurotus ostreatus on agroindustrial waste
Pleurotus ostreatus (black shimeji) has attracted growing interest from farmers, not only for its desirable sensory and nutritional characteristics, but mainly for its less demanding cultivation characteristics compared to other species. Thus, a search for alternative substrates capable of cheapening the production and increasing the productivity of regional cultivation is emerging. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using agroindustrial waste in the formulation of substrates for cultivation of the edible mushroom P. ostreatus, using the endocarp of recycled green coconut as a production container, providing a scientific framework for the future introduction of fungiculture in the state of Paraiba.
