Om Paintbrush Kitty
How I Found Paintbrush Kitty "with the chip on her nose in the ladylike pose"
Many years ago, while perusing a local antique shop, I laid eyes on a vintage porcelain cat. I assumed it was a female kitty since she was covered in bright red cherries and sitting in a graceful pose. Instantly captivated by her twinkling blue eyes, I noticed there was a chip on one side of her nose that added to her already sad expression.
Overcome by the urge to give the kitty a home, I placed her in my kitchen. Each morning for over ten years I gazed at her melancholy face wondering about her past and how she had survived all those years.
Several years ago, I moved the kitty to my studio and began using her to store some of my paintbrushes. She then became an object of interest to my pet tabby named Haley who sat next to her for countless hours - hence, the story begins.
To this day, Paintbrush Kitty remains here on my desk to remind me that one can overcome their fears with just a little encouragement. She will be with me forever - Paintbrush Kitty - "with the chip on her nose in the ladylike pose".
