One Black Day

One Black Day is set against the landscape of a forsaken Midwestern town where limited opportunities and a meager existence have corroded residents' sense of belonging into an enduring nightmare, filled with corrupt decisions and permanent consequences.
Chronicling the lives of two young men from different generations and backgrounds, the novel follows their parallel failures and discontent with identity, family, friendship, violence and loss, culminating in a single tragic intersection that will irrevocably change and connect them. The story explores the vulnerabilities of men as they fight against anger and regret in pursuit of reconciliation, redemption, and ultimately, forgiveness.
One Black Day is Cheney's second novel. He lives in Franklin, Tennessee.
