Om Managemental practices for buffaloes in Vindhya region of M.P. (India)
Buffalo being one of the most important domestic animals, not only provides milk but is also used as draft animal. Buffalo holds the greatest promise for food security and sustainable development in the 21st century, as these animals form an integral part of the typical farming system. In India buffalo happens to be the back bone of the rural economy across most of the states in our country, with few exceptions, here and there. It is the mainstay in the production of butter and ghee. Not only this, buffalo is also considered more useful for account of higher fat content in its milk, apart from its ability of utilize agricultural by-products more efficiently. Basically, milk production and productivity depends on four dimensions of animal husbandry practices i.e. breeding, feeding, health-care and management practices. However, health-care, particularly the productive and reproductive efficiency of dairy animals is the backbone of dairy farming.Although, the state of MP is the leader in the milk production in the country, the milk yield per animal is very low.
