Om Impetigo
The red sores or blisters caused by impetigo, a contagious skin infection, are most commonly found in the mouth and nose areas, however they can appear anywhere on the body. Impetigo is most frequent in kids, although it can affect adults as well.
Impetigo can be divided into two main categories:
1. Most cases of impetigo are of the nonbullous variety. Common symptoms include the appearance of red sores or pustules followed by the formation of a honey-colored crust. You may just peel off these crusts.
2. Rarely seen bullous impetigo causes bigger, fluid-filled blisters that are less likely to break apart than nonbullous impetigo lesions.
Bacterial infections, most commonly with Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes, are responsible for impetigo. Transmission occurs either through skin-to-skin contact or indirect contact with contaminated surfaces or items. Although most cases of this virus are mild, they are nevertheless annoying and spread easily.
In order to get rid of the germs causing the infection, impetigo treatment typically comprises antibiotics. In places like schools and daycare facilities, where it is more common among youngsters, it is especially necessary to maintain excellent hygiene, such as regular handwashing, to avoid the spread of impetigo. You or your child should see a doctor if you feel you have impetigo so that you can get a proper diagnosis and treatment
