The religious and theological second part is, owing to its general departure from ordinary biographical narrative, framed as the author's 'dream'. It is here that the author details his ideas of church roles and Jesus in greatest detail. The third and final part is concerned with the character of A. J. Gordon himself; how he efforted to conform his life and deeds with those of Christ.
