Om Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway's mark on American literature cannot be overstated. Under the modernist poet Ezra Pound's mentorship, Hemingway's early writings show him developing his unique style of sparse, objective prose. With the success of his first novel, The Sun Also Rises, this style established him as the leading writer of the Lost Generation. He would go on to become a literary giant and celebrity, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1953 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. He lived from 1899 to 1961.
