Why do women feel the need to compete, compare, undermine, and undercut one another? Why do we feel on guard and on the defensive with other women? We all are adequate; we all are unique; we all are brilliant, gorgeous, fabulous, and talented in our own right. Too often we make unfounded presumptions about one another. We become mind readers. When we attempt to read someone''s mind, we assume we know what they think or feel without direct evidence. Mind-reading often leads to confusion, resentment, and frustration and sets the stage for "she thinks." How many of you have heard the term in reference to yourself, "she thinks," and the sadder aspect of it, how many of us have said it about our sistahs. Each one of us has the power to break that stereotype, to start engaging in honest dialogue about, "she thinks." I invite each of you as you read this book to delve into your psyche to understand where and why this mindset starts, so that we can begin to break the cycle of "she thinks."

Because of their power, less than 10 percent of the world''s population has a prosperous, comfortable life. Africa and its people are some of those sacrificed for the convenience of the powerful few. Based on his personal experience with a great stretch of the continent over a quarter of a century, Sebastian Joseph has written The Hidden Voice of Africa to highlight and condemn the deplorable actions of the world''s richest countries who continue to colonize and loot the assets of Africa. If we fail to question these injustices, how can the next generation live here? With The Hidden Voice of Africa, Joseph aims to change Africa to be better continent, give their rights back to the people, and stop the brutality and hidden colonialism of the rich, including changing United Nations policies.

  • - The Contemporary Vice Presidency and Presidential Relations, 3d. ed.
    av Marie D Natoli
    499,-

"Once there were two brothers. One went to sea and the other became Vice President. Neither was heard from again." Vice President Marshall''s humorous story reflects the neglect the office has been given. Yet, as "a heartbeat away" from the Presidency, the office is the key to a smooth transition in the executive branch. With the growth of the "modern Presidency" (beginning with FDR), the Vice President''s role has also grown. This work is a generic work on the second office. It follows a thematic, rather than a chronological or biographical approach to the subject of the Vice Presidency. Included in the work are such topics as considerations in selecting a vice presidential running mate; the evolving role of the office; the Vice President''s role as an "administration spokesperson;" the VP''s relationship to presidential staff; the importance of both presidential and vice presidential personality in defining the role of a particular Vice President; the question of whether the Vice Presidency is a steppingstone or stumbling block to election to the Presidency. The work also compares the three instances of Vice Presidential succession to the Presidency during the time frame under study (Truman; Johnson; Ford), pointing out that a Vice President has a one in five chance of moving into the Presidency via succession. Included, too, is a succinct discussion of the merits and flaws of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment, a delineation of what the role of the Vice President should be during a presidential disability, as well as the process for filling vacancies in the Vice Presidency.

  • - A Keynes Primer - Second Edition
    av M D Bright & Daniel
    385,-

"Spending is not the depletion of wealth, it is the transfer of ownership of money. And that transfer of ownership of money activates the economic activity that creates and maintains wealth."........... The classic work on Macroeconomics by John Maynard Keynes called "The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money" is notoriously difficult to read. It was my initial goal to attempt to read and fully understand Keynes' work and then to produce a study guide of sorts, in order to make his concepts more accessible. This attempt turned into a major project that took years to accomplish. I believe the result of that effort, this book, captures the essence of the most important concepts Keynes discovered. However, in the process I discovered that, in order to properly understand those concepts, new definitions for currently used terms and new ways of organizing macroeconomic models are necessary. One might think that attempts to do so would just make everything more complicated and difficult to understand, but the opposite is true. The way of organizing and explaining the concepts shown in this book leads to the development of a comprehensive and fully consistent model of macroeconomics, a model that is actually easier to understand. I hope you will agree. This a second edition of this book. Included in this edition are improvements in wording and presentation to make it more readable as well as an improved and expanded treatment of international trade.

Based on a true story, the following is about human relationships as we journey life's path. Although set within a military backdrop, similar interpersonal relationships could just as easily have been experienced in a small company, small town, or even within a smaller department of a large corporation. War, over simplified, is a contest of wills. People skills are not common to all of us. We each can react quite differently to the same set of circumstances. Scientists tell us through DNA research that all human beings are 99.9% genetically alike. And yet, one of the things that makes us interesting is that our personalities can be so varied, and we react to the same circumstances quite differently. Tempest offers humor as well as frustration. It demonstrates the manipulation of power and the subtle grooming of people toward the will of those in authority controlling us.

  • - A Poet's View of the Nativity
    av Sherrie Morrison
    259,-

These collected poems reflect an unwavering faith in the mystery of the incarnation - the unchanging humanity and divinity of Jesus. Contrary to most Christmas narratives with the beautiful nativity scenes, the birth of a baby is a bloody mess. Jesus'' birth was no exception. The baby of Christmas is a human being that stepped into the most unlikely place at a most unlikely time. Jesus'' birth took place in unsanitary conditions and resulted in a refugee flight to Egypt while a self-absorbed tyrant slaughtered babies out of fear. Sherrie Morrison captures both the human and the divine nature of Christmas in her years of defining the nativity through poetry. Come with her now and meet the Christ of Christmas at such an unlikely place and time as this.

  • - Words and Phrases per the Pleiadians - A Message from the Pleiades
    av Edward W Skinner
    375,-

In Interpersonal, Interdimensional, Intergalactic, Volumes VIII and IX, Edward Skinner concludes his series of books depicting his firsthand experiences with both positive and negative aliens who are about planet Earth at this time. In Volume VIII, Skinner approaches the alien Pleiadians (also known to Skinner as Light Beings from the World of Spirit) about their perspective on some words and phrases that Skinner believes may be of current interest to readers. The Pleiadians, along with some other alien and angelic groups, have a whole lot of influence on human affairs on planet Earth. Most humans will be surprised to learn this fact. Human lives and choices on planet Earth are pretty much predetermined before humans come to their lives on Earth. Pleiadians are some of the major players in this interaction between unseen forces and humans living on Earth. We view Pleiadians as aliens. They view themselves as residing in a generally unseen World of Spirit. The Pleiadians' responses to words and phrases submitted to them by Skinner will give readers insight about many things regarding human life here on Earth as well as life in the rest of the Universe itself. In Volume IX, A Message from the Pleiades, Skinner asks the Pleiadians questions he hopes are of interest to readers. The Pleiadians consented to giving a message to readers but required that Skinner use a question and answer format in gleaning any information from them. Skinner obliged with asking questions of the Pleiadians that he could think of. Skinner tried to encourage the Pleiadians to speak freely of whatever they wished to talk about as well. One will learn a lot about the nature of aliens and about the human reality from reading Skinner's presentations. In the earlier volumes to Interpersonal, Interdimensional, Intergalactic, Skinner introduced us to the negative aliens on our planet. In the later volumes, Skinner focuses on the positive aliens and other entities impacting Earth's reality. Throughout his series of Interpersonal, Interdimensional, Intergalactic, Skinner reminds the reader that "The Light" is one constructive way to respond to the alien Dark Ones from the Sky and their attempts to harass and abduct human beings. Skinner further suggests that once human beings have mastered the use of "The Light" in responding to uninvited attempts on them from the Dark Ones in the Sky, or the Brothers of Darkness on the ground, or Lucifer, a dark leader, human beings could also work on a "Be Neutral" approach to darkness' distortion attempts on them. The latter "Be Neutral" approach is not easy for human beings given the human reality of the positive and the negative. However with time and effort, human beings could learn how to tune all the Dark Ones out when they try to impact them. Again, Skinner says to master the use of "The Light" first, before trying the "Be Neutral" approach, so the human will have something to fall back on if he or she has trouble with the "Be Neutral" approach in dealing with dark aliens and other dark entities. As said, Skinner believes the positive, alien Pleiadians (humans call them aliens, but they are much more than that) are highly evolved entities who impact human life on Earth with the positive the most. The negative, alien Zetas are highly evolved entities as well, and they impact human life on Earth with the negative the most. The latter bring distortions, manipulations, and alien abductions to the human reality of Earth. The former bring support with "The Light" to humans fighting off the distortions and abductions from the Dark Ones, along with other positive energies to planet Earth. There are many alien entities out there in our night sky operating in dimensions other than the comfortable human three-dimensional one unless they want to be seen by the human three-dimensional eyes or the psychic-eye.

  • - Sorting Out a Purpose Through the Random Chaos of Life
    av Amy Campbell Pratt
    655,-

Speaking of Radial Tires: Sorting Out a Purpose Through the Random Chaos of Life is a stunning journey through codependency, suicidal ideologies and forgiveness. The juxtaposition of the photography works to draw the reader in even more, making you wonder what the author was thinking when grouping them in this "random" way. The raw prose in SORT gives you an intimate glimpse into depression and mania, along with the tactics one uses to avoid the pain at all costs. In the world of self discovery, this book brings you face to face with some serious inner demons, confronts shame and is filled with beautiful imagery."The photographs are a loving response to my shadow self. With every photo I took I gained a bit of my power back. Most importantly these photos are a gentle reminder of a greater world beyond me, experiences I would have missed had I not woken up on January 24, 2006. Your future does not have to look like your past. The real purpose of our life's journey is shedding the self imposed shame and loving the you that is you, shadows and all." -Amy Campbell PrattEvery now and again, one is lucky enough to come across a work of art that supersedes the mental plane. Even its mere existence can feel like a breakthrough or a shifting of the emotional landscape that connects us all together. Amy Campbell Pratt's SORT is that kind of art. It's a collection of photography, prose, and pure presence that presents as a causal stream of events which occurred outside of space and time. It's nothing short of a cosmic transmission triggered by grace and manifested from the smoldering embers of human suffering. Each page is an epiphany that melts like a puzzle piece into the fabric of consciousness. Amy Campbell Pratt is not just a visionary, she's a storyteller from another realm. Look closely and you might just see a glimpse of your own soul. -Cat Farrar, Change Doula
