Tom Poteet brings a book of solace and hope to those who are hurting; whether sickened by this current pandemic or cancer or any illness affecting our minds and body. He brings a book of solace and hope for all who are grieving for a loved one lost. There are so many troubles that we face. We do not always face the same troubles. We face our troubles in different ways. We all need help in our journey through life. Indeed, we all need help to journey through each day. We all need Someone to Hold us in Their Loving Arms. Poteet has a relationship with that Someone, his Teacher, he would like to share. He shares through his poetry and prose. Throughout his book he introduces us to his Source of strength and hope. Poteet shares his poems of introduction, his poems of prayer, his poems of worship and concludes with poems and messages about his life with his Lord and family.He feels that the more we converse with someone, the better we know them. His conversations, with his Lord and Teacher, through prayer and worship, have lasted for decades. He now shares some of those conversations with the reader.

Tom Poteet has been writing poetry since the late 1980's. He first began recording his prayers to his Lord in 1989. Since that time, he has written down, in poetic form, hundreds of prayers. Most of those prayers are included in his Sing A New Psalm. In putting a book together concerning prayer, both prayers written and poems of what prayer means to him, Poteet has culled the numbers of poems so that the reader can more easily follow his prayer life from 1989 until 2023. The Book of Prayer is divided into two sections: those prayers written before the year 2000 and those written after. It is Poteet's hope that giving examples of his prayer life as well as sharing the meaning of his prayer life may ease the burden of prayer on the reader. Praying to and conversing with his Lord is a joy to Poteet. It is a time to bask in His Grace. It should be a joyful and meaningful time for all of His children. It should be a time for all to feel His Grace. We simply need to become more comfortable at the Feet of our Lord and Father.

Sing A New Psalm is a book of songs to the Lord and provides insight into the spiritual journey of one man over several decades of his life. The book includes poems, mostly written in the early morning hours, while the poet sat in prayer and worship of his Heavenly Father. It originally provided one poem each day of each month to help the reader cope; but now the poems, or psalms, are simply numbered; much like the Psalms of old. It has been updated to include psalms written from 1988 through January 2017; the new material hopefully maturing as the poet's spiritual growth has continued; and his relationship with our Heavenly Father has deepened; and his life has been filled to overflowing with His Love.

Volume II of Tom Poteet's Journey: in Poetry and Prose continues his journal of weekly postings to his website and, eventually, to Google+. Volume II encompasses the years 2014 and 2015. Those are the final two years of the thirty-eight years that Tom and his family lived in their home in the country in northeastern Maryland. Poteet wrote his weekly updates in 2012 and 2013, with older poems and newer messages. As he got into 2014 and beyond, he began to intersperse new poems to go along with his messages. He continued this process until early 2020. Though his four volumes of poetry and prose comprise only the years between 2012 and 2020, the poems, especially those in Volume I and many of the poems and messages, in Volume II, comprise poems going back to the late 1980's and early 1990's. So, even if the four volumes only cover nine years, the poetry covers several decades. These decades, beginning in the late 1980's, cover Poteet's writing journey with his Lord and his Lord's Heavenly Hosts up to this point in his life. These four volumes summarize and delineate Poteet's journey through his poetry and messages. Poteet has kept the messages, which follow his poems, in the same manner as once posted. The manner of his writings was and is more train-of-thought or stream-of-consciousness than proper grammar. He thought it best to keep the meaning as once expressed, rather than modify by many changes in sentence structure. Poteet's prayer is that the reader can use some of these poems, along with the prose that accompanies, to get through their days in the years to come; as the reader continues in their own journey.
