Dynor and Eenar

Dynar and Eenar are elephants on an elephant farm in Thailand. They are abused and forced to perform and give rides to tourists. They despair, seeing no resolution of their plight. Eventually, they realize only their bodies are enslaved. Their minds are free to adopt a perspective that lifts them above their physical misery. This story, written in first grade vocabulary, can be a used to discuss ethical treatment of animals with children. The story is also a metaphor, sending a message of hope to abused children, who are largely unrepresented in children's picture book literature...
