The Decline left what was once America divided: The West, who operates under the old democracy, and the east, renamed Appalachia for the mountains it resides in.
Now, over a century later, Alexandra Meadows finds herself in the midst of Asi, one the largest provinces in Appalachia, with no memory of her past. The only one to guide her through it is Jackson Tarlock, the handsome son of the looming Lord Thomas Tarlock, Lord of Asi. Jackson assures Aly of their childhood love story, but parts of his story don't add up, and Aly is left to question if she truly belongs with him.
In a whirling, rapid twist of events, Aly tries to reconcile who she is with who she was and must do so quickly, for peace is never what it seems, and the parts of her she does not know are on the brink of war.
