The book tells of men I met in Stillwater's Education Department. It centers on one man's quest to earn a college AA diploma. He became convinced that earning a degree and becoming computer literate would dramatically improve his life after prison. His belief became an obcession.
In the end, he failed and in desperation and frustration he took his own life.
