Russia is determined to mend its ways and join the comity of nations under its new president, Vitali Kataev. US Prime Minister James D Stevens is determined to meet him at least half way. The death of John Stapelton, retired US diplomat with Russian experience, complicate matters. Traces of the deadly Russian nerve agent, Novichok, are found on his body. The case threatens to up end Stevens' Russian policy. Mike Sullivan, special assistant to Prime Minister Stevens, sets out to discover why and by whom Novichok led to Stapelton's death.
