Constructing Music

Constructing Music presents a new way to teach music theory by exchanging Western musical notation on a 5-line staff for the basics of computer programming. The book teaches students how to build musical structures using code through dozens of examples that simulate musical phenomena and gradually increase in complexity. Along the way, students are invited to modify the examples to make them their own.
