Om Chlorhexidine Chip as an adjunct to SRP using BANA Test Kit
Periodontal or the diseases of gums is a very common polymicrobial problem these days affecting about 20-50% global population. It can be diagnosed by using BANA Test which is used to detect presence of periodontal pathogens thereby serving as a reliable marker of disease activity and also aiding in the monitoring of periodontal therapy. The conventional method of lowering the bacterial load in the periodontal pocket constitutes scaling and root planing, but to prevent recolonization the use of adjunctive methods has been advocated. The use of controlled release devices such as antibiotics enables maintenance of concentration of antimicrobial agent within the pocket. Chlorhexidine chip is used as an adjunct to scaling and root planing which meticulously treats periodontal disease and also prevents its recurrence.
