Om Cape Cod Cranberries
Originally published in 1896, James Webb's "Cape Cod Cranberries" is a little nostalgic treasure on cultivating Cape Cod's most renowned crop. With chapters on building bogs, planting, harvesting, and shipping the fruit, this handy how-to from over 100 years ago is filled with instructive and decorative drawings. Found in the back are fascinating advertisements for O. Judd Company gardening books, including titles on Practical Forestry, Barn Plans and Outbuildings, and Talks on Manures.
James Webb, Cotuit resident and executive committee member of the "Cape Cod Cranberry Men" of Barnstable County, also owned the Santuit House, one of the first Cape Cod resort hotels.
