Edited by dr. Maja Trochimczyk, El¿bieta Käski and dr. El¿bieta Trybu¿, this 380-page volume (in Polish) documents the history of the Helena Modjeska Art and Culture Club in Los Angeles that celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Established in 1971 by actor-director Leonidas Dudarew-Ossety¿ski and other Polish emigres, the Modjeska Club (Klub Kultury im. Heleny Modrzejewskiej w Los Angeles) has organized hundreds of cultural events in Southern California: lectures, film screenings, art exhibits, theatrical performances, concerts, galas and more. The club is an important cultural organization bringing together Polish Americans and promoting Polish and Polish American culture in the immigrant community and to the general public.
The volume consists of essays, interviews, lists of club's events and other documents, richly illustrated with color photographs taken over the 50 years of the Club's history.
