It may seem like a simple prayer to some, but to author Rose Chatman Davis, prayer has led her to experience some of the greatest miracles she has ever witnessed from God. She recalls several of these encounters of God''s intervention in her new collection of personal testimonials, Talking with My Heavenly Father - A Life Time of Prayer. Rose begins by describing her premature birth and how God delivered her from death; she then continues with mentioning God''s provision during her impoverished upbringing, revealing the power of prayer exemplified by her and her family. Coupled with the testimonials are Rose''s commentaries detailing how God listens when we pray and the ease in talking with God for miraculous healing, intervention in trials and direction in life. Her hope for her memories is to inspire readers into prayer, encouraging readers to be God''s agents of change and believe God answers every prayer.

I am both humbled and honored to write this epilogue for Shelia L. Johnson Peters' first book, 8 Kids and 2 Suitcases. What I can and will say is that I have been greatly touched, blessed, and led to salvation by the author who I simply call, mother. I believe you will be blessed by her testimony and encouraged by her story of strength and courage which triumphed over adversity and transported her to success. This book contains the raw, unfiltered account of the real life experiences of a battered and abused women, wife, and mother who persevered and persisted until she succeeded and made sure that all who was associated with her did the same. Exactly how is found between these pages and in her unshakable Love for God and Faith in Jesus Christ. Once you have read her story and the comments of the eight children with two suitcases who traveled the path with her I pray that you are encouraged. How can I say and know these things? I can say because I owe much of my accomplishments to Shelia L. Johnson Peters who nurtured and encouraged the best characteristics in me too. Like in the song, she saw the best in me and brought it out by her never give in attitude. Oh, and by the way, I am married to one of her eight children, Bernadette. She didn't quit. She didn't give up. She didn't stop. She didn't succumb. She stumbled, she fell, but she picked herself up and kept going until she persevered and succeeded pulling behind all who are associated with her. Shelia L. Johnson Peters has "True Grit" and a "Crown of Many Stars" and an unfinished story.Arnold R. Montgomery, Husband, Father, SON-in-law, Elder, and Regional Administrative Director in that order.

Love and Like are two important words for us to understand and do to receive knowledge so we can usher in God''s victories and blessings. Yes, there are things we are not to love and like; but far too often, we are not loving and liking the things of God because of little annoyances that do not bother God at all. This book, inspired by the Holy Spirit, identifies the two words: "Love and Like" as keys to obtaining knowledge and blessings. What must we do to learn and put this simple idea into practice? We must learn to see people and circumstances like God sees people and circumstances. James shows you the what, who, and how: to love and like, not just to receive, but to do and give what God would have you to do and give. Through Scripture and real-life examples, in an easy-to-read format, he explains the powerful, life-changing concepts that can help you succeed in all areas of your life. What others said, after reading the manuscript:"This book has real value." - Pastor Loren Hirschy    WOLC Dubuque, IA"James this book is for all ages and flows together, easy to read and comprehend."- Ruth Schaefer    Educational Specialist and Clinical Laboratory Science Instructor"Good foundation for the new Christians and good supplement for all others."- Mary Rushton     Teacher and wife of author"I learned to love God more while reading this book."  - Karen Ohnesorge    Bookkeeper

Titus 3:5 (NIV) "He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy."I have struggled many months, trying to decide on a proper title for this book. Titles like: "Am I Good Enough?" or "Do ''good people'' go to heaven?" or "How ''good'' is good enough?" or "Are You Sure?" or "Good but not ''Good Enough'' and many, many more. None seemed to express what needed to be said. It''s not until we come to understand that: we are totally powerless, and we have no righteousness of our own, that I will turn to Jesus in faith and repentance and let His blood make me clean and good. Only then, by God''s grace, can I come into his presence- forever. This book is especially written to those (nearly 80%) who believe that their good deeds will outweigh their bad deeds, believing they can make it to heaven on their own. Only as we follow Jesus can we understand that God offers salvation and eternal life as a free gift, and not something we earn.  No one really believed I could. I didn''t believe I could-be a preacher! I was shy, introverted, had no self-confidence, just an average student. But one night, about 9:00 p.m., I was walking home after our Sunday night worship service, the stars were bright and being all alone, I stopped in the middle of our driveway and lifted my hands unto the Lord and said, "God, if you want me to be a preacher then you''re going to have to makes me into one." God took my inability and turned it into his capability. At age 19, I entered Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tenn. After college, I held ministries in Tennessee, Indian, Illinois, Kentucky, and for the last 40 years, I''ve lived in Columbus, Ohio, preaching full-time and part-time in several area churches. Currently I serve as Senior Minister at Pickaway Church of Christ, Ashville, OH.

  • - A Call to Corporate and Individual Revival

We all yearn for revival in our quest to maintain closeness with God. Inside this book you will find process of achieving spiritual renewal through some pertinent elements such as studying God''s word, meditation, discernment, constant prayer, fasting, worship, and praises, and of course the Holy Spirit, who is the chief agent of spiritual renewal. These elements were discussed in detail to substantiate their importance in drawing individuals closer to God, and also responsible in bringing positive transformation and revival within the church which will ultimately have effect on the community.        The first and second Great Awakenings in the United States occurred under George Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards and Charles Finney, respectively. These great men understood the relevance of certain elements of spiritual renewal and lived them out during their time and throughout their ministerial endeavors. By so doing, they not only impacted their generation, but also left a wonderful legacy for the church community around the globe. If these elements of spiritual renewal are employed with meditative reflection, individual Christians in our time will achieve an unprecedented result just as the Old and New Testaments believers achieved under the leadership of some godly kings in Judah, the Southern kingdom of Israel. It was substantiated in this study that for any meaningful revival to occur within or outside Christian community the 5Rs in spiritual renewal must be present: repentance, return, renewal, revival and restoration.Spiritual renewal begins from the heart. Therefore, there must be spiritual heart transplant for a revival to occur, because a transformed heart is a renewed heart, and a renewed heart is a revived life. "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life" (Prov. 4:23). Chima Umejiaku is a Pastor of Christian Assembly Church in Lynn & Lowell, Massachusetts. He holds a doctoral degree in theology and two master''s degrees; one in theology and another in special education, and also first degree in Special education. This manuscript is a work of biblical studies that uses common narratives and teachings from the bible to show that the trials and relationship dynamics that biblical figures faced are the same challenges that we face emotionally and relationally today as Christians and humans. Dr. Anthony has structured his book around a beautiful sentiment, and one that is extremely helpful in biblical counseling: we are all human, and we all face the same trials and struggles emotionally and in relationship with one another. This helps bridge the gap between biblical text and readers' modern experiences of life, showing how we can learn more about ourselves as humans and give one another grace practically through studying the word. Dr. Anthony has organized his book skillfully, taking the reader through the natural progression of the biblical text with each story, beginning with the Garden of Eden in Genesis and working his way progressively through the rest of the Old Testament and into the New Testament in the remaining chapters. This organization will be extremely helpful for readers, as it will come in a familiar order.

McDougall is a work of Christian fiction that follows a Roman Centurion who finds himself drawn into the passion story of Christ during a tour in Roman-occupied Israel. After witnessing His crucifixion ordered by Pontius Pilate, Marcus is swept up in the movement of Christianity that follows. An enjoyable and thought-provoking read! Through well-drawn characters and an honest take on the complex relationships in 1st-century Israel, the author has crafted a story that is hard to put down. He skillfully immerses you in the Roman and Jewish power centers of the day - worlds that are first challenged then threatened by the prophetic figures of John the Baptist and Jesus of Nazareth. How will career soldiers, Roman officials and ordinary people from across Judea respond to a Man being acclaimed as the Son of God? Today is July 24th, 2000, and this is my 40th birthday. I was feeling quite depressed at the time. I didn''t see my life going anywhere and wanted to end it.I was high on cocaine and intoxicated on liquor, I had also smoked PCP laced marijuana. I was contemplating suicide but could not make up my mind the best way to carry this out. This was also the day that I found Christ Jesus and this time for good. As I was sitting in my living room, crying my eyes out and my body was going through many changes; my nose bled, I had trouble breathing, my heart was racing, I was sweating profusely, I had no control of what was happening to me or my body.I was flipping the channels on my TV, suddenly I came across Christian Television and Bishop TD Jakes was on.He was preaching about suicide and how the enemy fooled people by messing with their minds. He kept saying over and over again, how this was a trick of the Devil to make you believe that you are worthless and hopeless, and that this is the way the enemy keeps you from knowing who God created you to be.To my readers. You can find God in any state or condition. Surrender and accept Christ today. I am living proof.I am a licensed and ordained Minister now. Preaching and Teaching the Gospel according to Christ. I have been doing this for over 15 years. If God could do it for me, HE surely can do it for you.Amen

"Look over there, Tonto, outlaws. Let's get 'em!" exclaimed Mark, and off we'd go down the row of apple trees on our trusty steeds (stick horses) to capture and arrest the bad guys. Northwestern Indiana is mostly flat, open pastures or crops. It was expansive and a little intimidating, especially when a breeze was blowing. Mark would shout, "Hi-o Silver!" as we galloped across the pasture. He, of course, was the Lone Ranger and I was Tonto. His imagination knew no bounds. There was never a boring day with Markie around.

'Gay' is neither a serene nor settled identity in the lives of countless persons who manifest it. With unfailing regard for them as persons, the author integrates strands from history, psychology, and philosophy in narrating the roots and rise of gay identity. Neither political nor polemical, this narrative proceeds along the path of reasoned inquiry in discerning that emotional burdens and risky sexual behaviors give shape to gay. Anchored in an esteem for persons as such, the story arrives at an outcome that promotes understanding, lifts the weight of a burdensome identity, and diminishes the divide within society over homosexuality. Reverend Hugh Macmillan was a 19th century Scottish pastor who lived from 1833 to 1903. Aside from his pastoral vocation, Macmillan also seems to have had a deep love and knowledge of botany, geology, geography, and the spiritual nature of human beings. He has several published books, such as Bible Teachings in Nature, The Christmas Rose & Other Thoughts in Verse, The Olive Leaf, and The Sabbath of the Fields: Being a Sequel to Bible Teachings in Nature, all of which show the connection between the nature of earth and its people, and their shared creation by God. In addition, Reverend Macmillan also wrote 200 sermons which are now in the public domain. These are scripture-referenced essays on the precise configuration of every thing in nature, including our natural environment and our human selves. Everything is interconnected and coordinated; nothing is ever lost in its entirety. Every one of God's creations has a purpose, from the precise borders of a natural tideline to the beauty of a flower. Nothing is random. And neither are we, as God's creations in His purposed world. Macmillan's insights into the continuing human life cycle offer a warm understanding and a hopeful uplift to those who read these sermons. Ms. Hansen has brought these 200 Macmillan sermons into print to share with readers a knowledge of the total coordination of the earth's and human beings' creation, and of the love and omnipotence of our Lord God, the Creator. Ms. Hansen holds a Master of Arts degree in English from New York University, and is continuing her studies into the scriptural and worldly interface of human beings.

For those who are familiar with the Bible, Christ's warning that no one knows the day or hour of His returning is common knowledge, yet can it be that this very caveat holds the key to discovering a timing mechanism hidden within the writings of the Apocalypse-also containing images that point to the rise of the United States prior to the return of Jesus Christ? By breaching concepts of timing that few have dared to consider before the confusion and dysfunction of our politically correct twenty-first century, the Book of books now commands a new relevance for Christian believers looking for Him who will soon catch us up (enrapture us) to His side. By using a simple "side door" entry into the middle of the apostle John's Revelation of Jesus Christ, we are here introduced to elementary discoveries made by a young boy, being taught on his mother's knee-as they venture into revelations that will soon follow, and we all but stumble upon two delicate sets of jewels within John's prophetic masterpiece (assisted by his father). These timing jewels, which he continues to share with us thereafter, soon become the "prophetic clocks" that lay wide open, and quite exposed, within the very heart of the Apocalypse. Thus, by first entering through that wide-open side door, and then wading in to "unwrap the clocks," Franklin ushers us through a window that soon opens up to our present world-revealing not only the obvious destiny of Israel, but also the emergence of a world superpower. All of these discoveries are finally capped off by confirming a particularly curious timing offset that surprises us with the discovery of an awakening that now awaits the close out of our present age, as foretold by the Old Testament prophet Zechariah. How can so much revelation be discovered within one young man's adventure? The key is actually found within an amazing flexibility that the Lord has built into those "clocks." When will Christ return? "When it is time."
