Through the Branches is a companion volume to the authors'' previous book, Swaying in the Treetops. In this book, readers are invited to peek into the home of this somewhat unusual family, as the authors provide a glimpse of everyday life. What''s it like to shop for and to cook for a family of more than twenty people, every day? How does one juggle the routines and requirements of so many special-needs children, who require frequent trips to the doctor, frequent, sometimes major surgeries, and daily therapeutic and medical care? What''s it like to assimilate kids from all corners of the world into a "typical" American middle-class family? Through the Branches gives answers to these questions and many more, as the authors share stories, vignettes, and anecdotes gleaned from parenting this large and unusual family. Some of these stories will make you smile, while others bring a tear to your eye, and still others make you cheer, either out loud or just inside your heart. From the authors: "Most of all, we hope that some of these little nuggets of family life will encourage your heart in some way and inspire you as you walk your own path, face your own challenges, weep over your own sorrows, celebrate your own victories." Scott and Kathy were married in 1977. After the births of four biological children, they began adopting children with special needs in 1998, and in 2000 they founded and became the directors of The Shepherd''s Crook Orphan Ministry (tscorphans.org). Since that time, they have been privileged to be a part of helping find families for hundreds of orphans. They have eighteen adopted children themselves and love to share these children''s amazing stories any time they have a chance. You can visit their family blog, "Where Love Learns Its Lessons" at wherelovelearnsitslessons.com, and Kathy''s personal blog, "Owning My Nothingness" at owningmynothingness.com.

JESUS IS! Why life isn''t futile"JESUS"-"YESHUA"-"YEESOOS"-"JESU"- the Name that has been and is being formed by more lips than any other name. Many spew the Name of JESUS with contempt, hatred, and rage, even while denying His reality. Simultaneously, many others in every corner of our world lift up His Name in love with prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. While many today are being deceived into believing that JESUS is not unusual-that He''s just one among many false deities in humanity''s history-many others in every nation, tribe, and family around our world are coming to know Him and the love, joy, peace, and hope that only He can give. Once you know the real, eternal, and historical JESUS testified to by GOD''s HOLY SPIRIT, you will understand why people all over our world are singing and proclaiming His praise and glory.JESUS IS!Who is He?What did He do in His brief life on earth 2000 years ago? What did He preach and teach? Why did He die on a cross?Did He really rise from the dead?Where is He now and what is He doing? Is He really coming back to our world? How can we prepare for His return?Knowing JESUS clarifies the confusion that permeates our world today- producing hope amid despair and joy in place of distress.JESUS is the way to a fulfilling and eternal life!A. Arthur Pinno is the director of Ends of the Earth Courier for CHRIST, a ministry dedicated to sharing the grace and truth of CHRIST in word and deed in Canada, the United States, Russia, India, and other ends of the earth as GOD leads.

Here''s what I would like the back cover to say."First, I would like to honor God and his presence in my life. Without him none of this is possible. Growing up Fatherless was not easy and some days as an adult it still isn''t. If I could say anything to those who are Fatherless like me, I would encourage us to remember that its not our fault. We didn''t make the decision to bring life in the world, so it is not up to us to fault ourselves for being neglected. This project was not just something fun to do it was and is personal. I pray that this project Charges and Challenges every Father around the world so that the worldwide epidemic of Fatherless can decrease and someday be no more. To my Fatherless Sons and Daughters, we don''t have to Grow Up the way we Grew Up. Make the choice to choose and that choice is to simply Live Better, Love Better, and Laugh Louder. And remember, we will never get our answers if we don''t ask our questions. Thanks again for your time. I pray this book will Bless and Strengthen you as we continue this journey we call Life. God Doesn''t Call the Qualified, He Qualifies the Called

  • av Pastor Derone Armstrong
    235,-

His mother was a strong, capable woman of God, but her upsetting diagnosis of Alzheimer's showed another side of God's love author and pastor Derone Armstrong had never experienced. In his new semi-autobiography, Alzheimer's Express, Derone compares navigating his mother's Alzheimer's as similar to awaiting a train to take his mom to heaven. He witnessed his mother's decline and dealt with medical care issues that tested his faith in people, but not his belief in God's gifts in love and seeing God in people who did care. As the family embarked on the Alzheimer's express, which led to his mother's placement in a nursing home, Derone and his family found peace in the chaos and enjoyed the times when his mother remember herself as the mother they loved. It's a meaningful story of a son's love and how caring for his mother strengthened his awareness of God's love and provision.

He provides at work, at home and for God: he is your husband, and no matter how strong or intelligent he is, he always needs prayer. That's why God anointed women as prayer warriors for husbands, which is the main objective in author Juliana Tolulope Akinbami's prayerbook for women, The Watchers Prayer Book. Within the prayer journal are several chapters devoted to various prayers directed toward your husband's life: prayers for his job/career, prayers for children and prayers in working together as a couple. Each chapter offers scriptural stories, prayer guides and author commentary on praying for each matter. Juliana uses aspects of her own prayer journey to offer sound Christian marriage advice so wives see their husbands as God sees them. Besides showing God is faithful in all situations, Juliana hopes husbands and wives see and believe that he who finds a praying wife finds a good thing.Juliana T. Akinbami is the founder of The Watchers Prayer Ministry, a virtual prayer ministry reaching people all over the world.Alongside her husband, she served as Co-Family Life Director for over two decades at the House on The Rock (Lagos, Nigeria), where she further developed a passion for praying for families and the environments that influence them. Juliana believes in the Matthew 28 commission to “go into the world and make disciples of nations” and that has been her driving force for ‘reaching out to the nations of the world through prayer’.

"I have known Major Bill Spies, a Ranger Hall of Fame inductee, for nearly a half of a century. I selected him to be my S-3, Operations Officer, in 1973 when I commanded the Ranger Department, Fort Benning, Ga. When the Personnel Officer informed me that Bill was available, he made a point that this Major had only one leg. My response was, "Does he think and write with his foot?" Bill spent twenty-two months in the hospital due to earlier shrapnel wounds and later, in another fire-fight, an enemy gunshot wound that resulted in the amputation. Both times that he was wounded he was leading ARVN troops in 1st Corps under the 1st Marine Force Recon Battalion during 1966 accomplishing highly classified long-range patrols. Signed: David E. I was born and raised in Norfolk Virginia. I am the youngest of two daughters. My parents are Archie and Marguerite Smith. At an early age my family, friends and neighbors taught me the importance of a personal relationship with the Lord. My family attended Saint John AME church in Norfolk Va. I accepted the Lord as my personal Savior as a young girl at the age of thirteen while attending Mason Memorial Church of God In Christ. Like most teens the ways of the world tempted me and I stumbled in my walk. I backslid. God's love was ever present and continuous in my life. As a young mother and wife the importance of my personal relationship with the Lord became more prevalent and I rededicated myself to the Lord while attending The Way of The Cross C.O.G.I.C. During my walk with the Lord at times I wasn't as strong as I needed to be, God was faithful. I hope that Pew, Prayer and Praise will inspire others to hang on to their faith in God. Nothing is too hard for God. I am a true believer that a family that prays together stays together. May the grace of God our Father be upon all who reads this book, May the righteousness given to us through the blessed Son Christ Jesus by faith invoke us to be led by the Holy Spirit to walk in victory.

"Keat Wade shares intimate conversations with the Almighty. His hand is guided by the Spirit of God, becoming an instrument, from which the heart has access to the above and the beyond. Some of what you will read was written in the Holy Land. Israel is where heaven touches earth and its spiritual gates are open to access truths and revelations best perceived in the place Keat calls his Heart's Homeland. As an anointed scribe, what better place for him to receive inspiration than on the location where God's Word was given...He will equip you with the overcomer's perspective... Just as Joshua and Caleb had proper perception, Keat will provide you with 'the good report'...His writings are secret weapons in these last days," according to Rosemary Schindler Garlow, Israel Tourism Advocate. In the poems in For Whom Beyond Beckons, there appears to be a shift from a step just across the line, past the current time, into a gray shadowy region of beyond. The visionary images present glimpses of that which is or may be coming. We are on constant watch, hanging on the edge of today, peering into tomorrow. Keat Wade is a master poet, author of four books: For Whom Beyond Beckons, Dueling Kingdoms: Chronicling the Times, A Gnarled Tree and Me, and Chronology of Love: Times and Seasons. Keat is a graduate of Fort Hays State University. He is a writer by desire and academically prepared with a Bachelor degree in English and Speech and a Master of Education degree in guidance and counseling. He completed a 36 year teaching career with the last 22 years at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Keat and Judy Garlow Wade live in the San Diego area and are active in the Prophetic Prayer Movement on the local, state, national and international level.

Life can be a struggle sometimes. The struggle can come from the choices that are made or the lifestyle that a person was born into. What are your "Streets?" Is it shame from a painful experience? Is it some of the things you've indulged in, knowing or unknowingly, that you should not have gotten involved with? Is it that you have the prestige, yet you do not know how to stay in a committed relationship? Sometimes we, as people, can have it all together in one area: school, success, reputation...and then not have it together at all, in another area of life. Dealing with trauma can leave a person in survival mode-or it can push someone to try harder until they begin to see permanent change! As time progresses, the question may eventually be, "What am I missing?" This sometimes happens because sex, recreational drugs, partying, or going from relationship to relationship does not do it for them any longer. It is a knowing or a feeling that there must be more to life than this. It is a longing for change to occur! Although many may not know how to get on the path or even where to start, just know that there is a reference point of greatness that can only come from God. There is greatness in each and every one of us, you just have to make the choice to forgive your past and those that may have hurt you in order for you to move forward. The choice of going in the right direction is linked to your destiny and to it being fulfilled. Are you ready to walk in greatness? Will you be made whole again? Your "Streets" do not have to control your destiny. Together, let's explore how to be ushered From the Streets and into The Palace.

Paethias Demidus Arius, a legatus of Rome, had led legions against Gaul, Germania, Parthia and served under Vespasian in the Judean War. It is after Caesar Nero summons Paethias to take a small contingent of Rome's elite centurions to Greece that Paethias encounters Antiachus Miltiades Delphanae, the last thread of the ancient Spartan military. At the cost of thirty-three of his centurions, Paethias is able to capture the last Spartan. Fearing this Greek more than any man he has ever known, Paethias shackles Antiachus next to a Christian, an evangelist, who converts Antiachus on the voyage to Rome. In Rome, Antiachus becomes the focus of Nero's vindictive hatred, as the Christian is tortured and forced to fight gladiators and beasts before the endless audiences in the Circus Maximus. In the prisons of the Circus Maximus, he learns of Judas, a famous overgrown lion Nero uses to kill Christians for Rome's entertainment. Knowing his wife's soul is at stake, Antiachus must endure the pain and exhaustion of impossible odds in order to take the truth of salvation to his wife. Seeing the grief Antiachus endures, many Romans convert to this new faith, but fear being discovered, knowing they too may stand in the Circus Maximus where Nero tested the innocence and pristine beauty of a faith he despised. Wesley A James grew up on a farm and worked for his father doing construction. After serving in Central America, he also became a respiratory therapist and a nurse to further his capacity in to serve in Guatemala and Honduras. Ten percent of all proceeds of The Christian and the Lion will go directly to servicing destitute families in Central America.

God has poured out blessings from the windows of heaven in ways that are difficult to believe. Everything belongs to Him, so what is holding you back from returning that which is rightfully His? Tithe and Tide is an exciting journey through the origins and importance of God's command to express your love for Him through tithes and offerings. In this enlightening read, author Dorothy Jean Ruffin shares her testimony of how God manifested Himself to her as she obeyed His call to financial giving and the powerful ways in which this choice nurtured her relationship with Christ. Ruffin's extraordinary story, along with the experiences of others who have tried God's commands and proved them to be true, will inspire you to place your faith in Him completely-spiritually, financially, mentally, and emotionally-and fill His storehouse with your gifts. As you dive into the amazing intimacy that comes from trusting God with your resources, you begin to step into the rewards that God rains upon you for your offerings. With the powerful teaching of Tithe and Tide, you'll discover that God is faithful in doing just what He said He would do. Now is the time to give back all that He has granted you, so heed to His words and embrace the blessings of obedience that follow. Dorothy Jean Ruffin grew up in the Desire Project of New Orleans, Louisiana, in a family of eight. Due to her father's incarceration, Ruffin was raised by a single mother who taught her children the love of Jesus and the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This would become the motto that Ruffin would carry throughout her life, even today, as she proclaims the goodness of God to others. Knowing how Jesus lived, died, and rose again for the sins of the world, Ruffin yearned to live for her Lord more and more each day. Before she married, she found truths in the Bible she had never known, such as the true day of the Sabbath, which is Saturday. Returning to God's ways allowed Ruffin to discover the significance of tithes and offerings. Now, while sharing this discovery with her readers, she gladly gives back to the Lord what He asks of her. Ruffin holds a Master of Divinity and continues to immerse herself in studying the Scriptures

How did the walls of Jericho fall? Did the sun really stop in the heavens? How did the Bible help the British win a battle for the Holy Land in 1918? What lies behind one of the world's favourite wedding poems? Why did Delilah betray Samson? Did God punish David for falling in love with Bathsheba? Did Jephthah sacrifice his daughter? What really happened when Lord Byron's Assyrian came down like a wolf on the fold? These are some of the questions addressed in 'The Broken Contract, ' second of Beryl Lavender's easy-to-read biblical commentaries that show the Bible's relevance for the twenty first century. We bring about unnecessary stress in our lives by worrying too much. Worrying will not make any of it better. All it will do is drain your positive attitude and allow negation to begin its growth in you. To get over the negativity, slow down, take a couple of deep breaths, and encourage yourself that a positive attitude is healthier than a negative attitude. Negativity is never successful. A positive attitude is a product of success. Do you often find your thoughts going down a negative track? Through serving on a SWAT team as a crisis negotiator, H. Chris Barber has experienced firsthand the influence our mind-set has on actions. In Charging Your Mind-set, he explains the guidelines for how to purposefully determine the outcome of your day, utilizing everyday examples to clarify how this outlook translates into daily living. Charging Your Mind-set reveals how we make choices that have a direct effect on how our mind-set develops and how we manage ourselves for the day. Resolving those obstacles allows the positive mind-set to guide our actions. Though we cannot control our circumstance, everyone is given a choice in how to respond to each situation. Will you choose a negative mind-set or allow yourself to be guided by positive thinking? H. CHRIS BARBER has worked in law enforcement for over forty years and has dealt with many people in crisis who don't know how to deal with the negative influences they encounter. Serving on his department's SWAT team for twenty-one years enabled him to achieve the position of commander of their crisis negotiations team, which allowed him to negotiate others out of a crisis and guide them to achieve higher expectations of helping others.

Finding Refuge: A Year in His Story Reading the Bible can be a daunting task. If we are truly seeking to know God and ourselves, we must dig in! Author Jodie Montgomery begins her new book, Finding Refuge: A Year in His Story, by describing herself as an "anorexic" Christian; a Christian that was living on barely enough scriptural nourishment to even feel secure in her own salvation. Thankfully, in time and with Bible study, Jodie became fed by the Word and discovered the importance of reading His story to improve her story. Finding Refuge: A Year in His Story is a reading plan to help readers journey through the Bible in a year: 44 weeks of Bible reading and 8 weeks of restful reflection. The plan includes devotional writings from Jodie, as your traveling companion through His Word, that share aspects of her life, her marriage and children, and how God is faithful to reveal Himself to His children. The inspiration for Jodie's Bible reading plan was the fact that many, including herself, didn't see the relevance of God's Word to their lives. They didn't view Jesus as a Refuge in this world. Outside of knowing He brought salvation to our lives, it wasn't until Jodie started reading His story that she came to know the Savior as an everlasting source of wisdom, hope, strength, and refreshment. Time in the Bible is time devoted to not only learning who Jesus is, daily, in our lives, but also a time of worshiping the One True God. Jodie Montgomery has led Women's Ministry at area Bible Studies and her church for over twenty-five years; over thirteen years as a Women's Ministry Manager at Idlewild Baptist Church. She celebrates life by taking walks with her husband Scott and having game nights with her grown children Samuel, Sarah & Susan. She is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary. She enjoys seeing others discover His Life through His Word. About the Illustrator: Lourdes Sanabria's love of His Word developed into an expression of her faith through Scripture art. Lourdes' colorful meditations on Bible truth encourage many in the Women's Ministry at her church. You may witness Lourdes' tenderness in her art and in her vocation as a pediatric occupational therapist.

This book contains a collection of poems that I penned inspirationally over the period of about twenty five years. The central theme I think is the redemptive power of love, grace and forgiveness. I am very grateful for the power of God in my life. My hope is that this book will be an inspiration, a source of comfort and provide some assistance in finding your purpose in life.

Brite is a lightnin' bug born with a larger-than-life bulb, which makes her clumsy and life in general a bit awkward. Subjected to bullying and the snickers and sneers of those who view her uniqueness as a handicap, she's always reminded by her parents of how much she is loved and that the Creator made her for a purpose, that would be revealed in due time. On a visit to Grandma's, Brite would discover just what that purpose was and change the hearts and attitudes of a whole community. A few of the many themes in this book are God's love and acceptance, the acceptance of self and others, bullying, it's possible causes and forgiveness.
