Life's trials can leave us feeling beaten and downtrodden, hindered by life's distractions that get the best of us. However, God's promises in the Bible show that God releases us from bondage and give us hope in difficult situations. Author Vernet Clemons Nettles wants to encourage readers to realize this truth that people matter to God through her new book, Why Should I Be Bound? The book is a thirty-day devotional, with scriptural truths and a collection of poems, to show God knows the plans and that there are blessings in the burdens of life. With scriptural examples and her own personal examples, Vernet conveys that when we are new creations in Christ, God will bring healing from the past as His promises in life free us from being bound in life's struggles today. Changes and challenges in life always come about, but we will get through earnestly in God.

  • - Life with My Two Fathers, God and Ed
    av Michael Bauman
    199,-

Long Walk Home is a mixture of Garrison Keillor, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Graham. It's colloquial, self-effacing, funny, poignant, and true -- a non-religious religious book about fatherhood, grace, and the foolishness of trying to earn what was already freely given. Long Walk Home is about life with my two fathers, God and Ed, and about the challenge of relating to fathers whose language isn't language.Long Walk Home is a story about high school dating, Marine Corps boot camp, snake handling in eastern Kentucky, a cattle stampede at Mt. Rushmore, and a cycling world championship, all in a quest to please my fathers. It's The Great Santini with this difference: It's all true.Long Walk Home challenges contemporary notions of fatherhood. This narrative demonstrates that the old fatherhood ought to be the new fatherhood. We ought to go back to the 50s, when father really did know best, to a time when a father wanted to raise a man, when fathers expected their sons to be tough, strong, and successful. They meant those sons to succeed, to stop the endless bellyaching, and simply to do the job. They expected sons to be men, not drama queens. This is a story about what happens when the paternal paradigm shifts. It's a story told not by the father, but by the son, a story that is instructive without being preachy. It lets the reader draw the obvious conclusions.

With the advent of secularism, atheism, and relativism in this modern world, author Nemsy Gubatan felt the need to bring the simple and universal tenets of the teachings of Jesus. Hoping to bring to others the inner peace and joy that he has found, he has written Spiritual Gems from Above: Insights into Inner Peace and Joy. Dive in to discover the path to inner joy through a deep and special relationship with Abba, our heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ, our Savior. There are many transcendent forces that shape and affect our lives in ways we don't see. The spiritual and compelling essays in this book are designed to awaken the spiritual consciousness of the readers to the reality of these forces. The temptations of the material and secular world can pull someone adrift if that person is not aware of these forces. The personal testimony of Gubatan shows the importance of having this spiritual awakening to find a deep relationship with our heavenly Father, Abba. He is love, and to experience His love, one must accept Him. Gubatan documents what this loving familiarity with Abba can look like through his essays. His experiences have changed his life forever and beyond measure. These truths have brought Gubatan much inner peace and spiritual joy. Gubatan was born and educated in the Philippines as a Chemical Engineer and came to the United States to further his education. After he experienced Jesus Christ's personal and unconditional love during a traumatic deportation trial, he desired to give back to his rescuer and deliverer. After many years of Diaconal Training at the San Pedro Center, he was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Orlando by Bishop Thomas Grady. Now he is currently serving as a Deacon at St. Margaret Mary Church in Winter Park, Florida.

I started writing when I was at 13 yrs old which is when I learned how to write poetry and discovered I enjoyed writing poetry. The words just flowed from my mind on to paper. That is when I knew that I was truly gifted in poetry. I fell in love with the words and knew that this would be the beginning of a lifetime of sharing my gift with my friends, family, and anyone who shared the same love I have. The first book I read was one written by the great Edger Allen Poe. His poetry was dark, yet deep in ways that got me more interested in other authors. As I grew older my style changed from simple to complex which created new paths in my world of poetry. My writings became more spiritual in nature as I grew older. Although times have changed and people have changed, poetry will never change. I welcome all people in our world to embrace the change knowing that our lives will become better when we all strive for peace, love, harmony, and forgiveness. My book, titled From the Heart, will showcase the many facets of my life and might just inspire a change for the better for our next generation.

Nancy has been a devoted follower of Christ for the past 32 years. She is a retired English teacher living with her husband in North Carolina where she is pursuing a new career as a writer of Christian Bible studies for women. She has been a missionary for the past ten years teaching English through the World English Institute. Her first trip was to Sibiu, Romania, and for the past several years, to Guatemala City, Guatemala. Her passion has always been evangelism and sharing the Truth with any willing hearts and minds. After her first mission trip to Guatemala City, Guatemala, her passion for not only teaching English but for seeking and saving lost souls was given a voice, and this God-given passion has permeated her life ever since. Out of her experience in this third-world country, she wrote her first Memoir which was published in Christian Woman Magazine. She has been perfecting her craft as a writer ever since. At the Corner of Broadway and Bethlehem started three years ago after Nancy truly surrendered the last stronghold of her life and returned to her first love as an ambassador for Christ. From that precise moment she was given His inspiration to write every thought on each page of this book. This work represents the culmination of her emotional trauma growing up in a family of alcoholism and drug addiction, her career as a professional singer/actress in New York City, and her son's 17-year heroin addiction. She credits the Lord Jesus Christ for His Divine direction every day especially during those times of tremendous fear and anxiety. Her hope is that those women who have a desire to discover their true identity in Christ will glean from each page exactly what He, in His perfect Will, determined for them since the foundation of the world.

Being reared by her grandparents who were respected members of the community, Gaváta (Vá) lived in a fine home, had lots of love, attended good schools, and had everything she needed-everything except her mother, Regina. A seasoned crack addict, Regina came in and out of Vá's life, and each time that she arrived lurking nearby was a shadow of some sort of deceit, conflict and trouble. Trouble that Vá found herself caught up in at a young age, as she learned first to steal to support her mother's habit, which eventually took her own life on a downward spiral. Sexual abuse soon followed and Vá's life to continue to lose footing. By junior high, trouble seemed to find her quickly, and the root of that trouble was usually sex, money, men, or relationships. She eventually became a fifteen-year-old mother who was making the worse decisions of her life. Both Regina's and Vá's illegal activity landed them in the bowels of the streets enduring the consequences thereof, but thankfully this was only the start of the story. Get Yourself Together First: Events from the Diary of a Child of a Crack Addict by Gaváta is a powerful story of the depths of sin and the height and power of God's grace and mercy. This mother and daughter change their lives; they overcome their demons to live a healthy life in Christ. The takeaway for readers is this: the power of emotional healing, restoration, love and forgiveness is alive and well. This book is written for a mature audience, as some content is explicit

"For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." -Psalm 91:11 Have you experienced the presence of angels? According to scripture, these angelic messengers are sent by God over and over again to comfort, guide, instruct, inform, provide, protect, prepare, and assure us of His unfailing and unending love. This biblical principle is the overall message of Precious Angels by Christie Loney. Within the pages of this book, written to bless her daughter, the author shares personal experiences with angels as she interacts with family and others. Those who choose to read this book will be blessed by Loney's encounters and at the same time will be reminded; angels do indeed help us along our way. Insights, and lessons she has learned, highlight the importance of sharing our faith and family traditions, as they provide history for the next generation. Family stories keep us connected to our roots. This book inspires laughter, motivates all of us to value family and friendships more every day, and encourages everyone to be intentional about spending time with loved ones Readers will also find prayers and quotes by other authors on angels and family life. The entire book is bound together by a thread of love. Expect to laugh and cry as you reflect on the truth that love, while sometimes tearful and messy, results in the freedom to grow and mature in faith. Lisa's greatest journey began when she and her family stepped out on faith by relocating from Rochester, NY to Charlotte, NC. After 1 year she and her husband were led to start a church and years later she was ordained as Pastor and her husband a Bishop. They also host their radio show Faith, Marriage and Ministry, on Take It to the Maxx Global Radio Network. Unaware of the many challenges they were about to face, Lisa had no clue that her struggles would later become her strength. After losing the church and later being evicted from their home, Lisa found herself writing in an area she was comfortable talking about (faith, marriage and ministry). This is the first of several books that she has started and have found strength through her faith. One of her favorite scriptures Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord... became so apparent in her life that it helped her to understand the scripture more clearly. ....lean not to your understanding. She and her husband now evangelize and continue to host their radio show.

The greatest voice we all have is our everyday life. Our actions can make a huge impression on the lives around us. This is especially true for my two young boys. It's my duty to be the best role model possible for them. They are the inspiration behind the stories in this book. I want them to see how the Lord has worked in our family through real examples. When we trust in the Lord every step of the way, amazing things will happen. This is what makes life fun.

The residents of Serenity House use all their talents to accomplish their goals. They think positive and plan together, hoping to overcome the unique challenges of their lives as residents. Most have not been admitted by choice but by life's design. They remain confident using personal education and experiences and are not deterred by rules and regulations or physical and mental limitations. McKennah is always listening to groups or individuals to gain information to put into a journal about the previous or hopeful future lives of the residents. Her love, faith and compassion enrich many whose hearts are tender or wounded. The Resident Council, once futile and non-productive, is now led forward and not easily defeated. Humor and excitement give the residents purpose and hope to attain improvements for their own needs fulfillment. They no longer are idle when the "Power People" in authority ignore their requests. Can they really accomplish a resident rebellion when the administrator refuses to answer their legitimate concerns? Yes, and they know all the phone numbers for the state surveyors, ombudsman, and local pastors. Laughing and enjoying themselves, these residents strengthen and bolster each other to overcome periods of defeat through ingenuity and creativity. On occasion, a resident may be difficult to locate, whether it is a turkey hunting adventure or a resident hiding who does not want to go for a medical visit. Upset families, local sheriff and game warden, state surveyors, administration, and helpful residents all get into the plan to locate missing residents.

If you are a pastor, Christian counselor, chaplain, or a student training to become a minister, this book is for you. The book is informative and inspiring and the chapter on, "What is Missing from the 21st Century Pulpit," paints the picture of the real life setting that impacts every church. Also included in this book is a couple's conflict resolution diagnostic instrument. The instrument has the capacity to reveal and uncover conflicts between a couple without either one disclosing or verbalizing their conflict. The book will sharpen your sense of awareness to the reality of the people sitting in your church pews and the urgent need for a paradigm shift in the way you minister to these people to meet their felt needs beyond the spiritual. Beverly Sterling-Cross was born in Jamaica and migrated to the United States at an early age. Every person conceived is born with a call and a purpose for their life. It is "for such a time" that we come into the world in a particular nation, of a particular gender, and of a particular race - to achieve our purpose. We each have gifts and talents, with which we are blessed, that are to be used to the benefit of others and to produce good will in the places we live, work, attend school, and even the places we visit. Though there are giants that we face on life's journey, we will always find victory when we choose to love God and love our neighbor. You will find in Carolina Piccolina: Taking Back the Mountains of Globo, men, women, and children of all ages - from Mamatina to Isaiah and Frankie - fulfilling their purpose to fight the giants of evil and remove them so that the land may be restored to goodness. We will discover that there is the loving force of the Trioli that encourages us to be all that they have called us and gifted us to be. If we will tap into the love that the Trioli has already placed within our hearts we will be transported on a journey of bringing peace and unity where there has been division and strife. We will see the mountains of Employment and Trade, Schooling and Learning, Fun and Games, News, Government Power and Authority, Family Relationships, and Spirituality taken to new heights. Each of us has a part to play. Hopefully, we will all see where we fit on this awesome journey.

We all desire to see the manifestation of our faith and God desires to display it. But should the manifestation be our greatest objective? Is it possible that "enduring faith" is the end, in and of itself, and not simply the means by which we appropriate the blessings of God? Hebrews 11 describes men and women of faith. Some saw great manifestations of their faith and some did not experience faith's manifestation at all. Some saw the dead raised and some died. Yet all of them gained approval for their faith. Enduring Faith Gains Approval explores the lives of these faith walking men and women to learn how we might emulate their enduring faith. As their faith battles are discovered in "Faith's Hall of Fame" exhibits, we see what we are to do in this process of walking in enduring faith, whether waiting on the manifestation of what we are believing for, or receiving it and responding appropriately to faith's manifestation. Enduring Faith Gains Approval is beneficial and inspirational, encouraging us to transfer what is seen and heard to the "faith adventure" we are experiencing with God. Jerry is a husband, father, grandfather, and pastor who is on a journey to walk hand in hand with Jesus every day. While learning to live life at the pace of a walk, his greatest desire is to do so in humility, faith, grace and victory while encouraging other believers to join him on this journey. Jerry has also written God's House of Mirrors, Brokenness and the Strong Man's Gospel, Harvesting God's Word, and Intelligent Faith.

God is the hero of my story. In fact, I don't really consider it to be my story. I'm the one who got in trouble, who walked in dangerous places. God is the One who got me out. And He began His rescue on a dusty small-town street years before I knew I was headed for trouble. Even before I was born, He laid the groundwork for my salvation, when He formed me in my mother's womb. At the time, she and her older brother were the only born-again Christians in her family and she was serious enough to send my brother and me to Sunday school even when she was too sick to go to church. It was in Sunday school that I learned that God actually spoke to people called prophets, and that gave me the audacity to ask God if He were real and to expect an answer. He didn't disappoint me. "Yes," He said in that famous, still, small voice.

The contemporary mega-church era has ushered in many benefits. It brings thousands of believers together for awesome praise and worship and is able to broadcast the anointed Word of God on international airwaves. But there are other ministries that are reaching members one-on-one to transform their lives. Their membership may be smaller, but their impact is exponential. That is the ministry of Pastor Edward Williams. Pastor Williams makes it easy to measure his loving commitment to the Lord. He regularly studies it, and then he invests in teaching it. For seven years, he led a Weekly Bible Study on Monday nights. For 20 years, he poured his heart and his resources into a (30 minutes broadcast) on KTYM 1460 AM, a popular Christian radio network. For the last 13 years, he has created daily devotionals and directly emailed them to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and fellow believers. Those finely-honed messages on the pursuit of our Heavenly Father and Life More Abundantly are chronicled in this book of Devotionals. This book represent eighteen years of Pastor Williams' devotion manifested into words to transform the weak into the strong, the infirmed into the healed, the prodigal into the beloved. This is his inspired living epistles, the Word of God, the Holy Bible reimagined by way of a humble heart and a sincere man of God. By Daniella Masterson, Writer
