The Legend of the Rose is a story of love and life, a love that never dies, and a story of a power that when used for the wrong reason can make one cold and evil. It begins in the kingdoms of Glenview and Penrose, where there is a beautiful princess and a handsome prince who grow up together and fall in love. In another kingdom not so far away, a poor young servant is approached by a stranger who offers him anything his heart desires. What he desires most is power, and he will sell his soul to get it in order to become a great and powerful king. I invite you to read and see why. What I have to present to you is a fairy tale that I wrote for our second daughter, Cassandra, when she went to pick a rose from our garden and was pricked by a thorn. Not liking the fact the rose pricked her little finger, she asked why it had thorns, and thus, a story was created/born. Other than a self-publishing book, I have never been truly published.

I once heard someone say, "e;When a person has struggled enough, they will become a good writer."e; I have struggled my entire life. However, I have experienced joy and pleasure as well as pain, and have poured out my heart in my poetry. Whoever reads my book will find themselves in at least one or two poems to which they can relate. Hopefully, when that happens, a healing will begin.

You can say that it's wisdom that rhymes. Among my favorites are the topics that address values including honor and integrity. Most of the values included have shaped me and made me the many have become. The different activities that are included are things I like to do or would like to do on the future. For example, I shared my thoughts on having children, although I personally have never had any. I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness and you will find many references to the organization and my heart felt feelings about my Creator. I have no intentions of changing anyone's beliefs but I have come to love what I've learned. The other ideas in the book come from personal experience mostly. I use the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd perspectives. Sometimes the stories told are what really happened, while others paint a picture based on personal wisdom. I've also included poems about my family and heroes in my life. Included are Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Samuel L. Jackson. There are a few more that I share my thoughts on. But I won't spoil it for you. Other ideas are ones we can all relate to including invitations. We all like to get invited to an outing or party or such. These poems give you a spin on things you already know and allow you to think outside the box. These poems are good conversation starters and will captivate the mind.

I ran away the day i turned 16 to escape the abuse and a friend of mine and myself hitchhiked to texas. After i came back from there i was on my own. I got into trouble alot and my alcohol and drug addiction was already a problem. Because of the border situation on the reserve there was always smuggling goin on. I ended up supporting myself nicely and got dragged into the fast easy money of that life.Living that lifestyle was as addicting as the drugs..The rush of getting away with it and the money was intoxicating. It never really filled the emptiness i always felt. The feeling of not being loved or being damaged never went away no matter how much drugs i did..As the years went on and i went through relationship after relationship my addiction turned to crack and there was no stopping me . I lost my children and my soul to that drug and lifestyle.. This i my story of how i finally found the strength in my weakest moment and began on this new journey .Ive survived my whole life and its only now that i have begun to live. I am learning from my past, doing the best i can today and i have hope today. I love myself and am truely grateful to be alive today.
