The story of a literate community need not be erased by some single act of negligence or vandalism. So when the names of Miller's graduates were stripped from the walls, the Miller Alumni Association decided to restore them and in theprocess give life to the names of the people who attended Miller High School. We wanted to share some of the experiences of growing up in Black Bottom and the surrounding neighborhoods that make up what we have called the MillerVillage. We have not covered the entire mix that made up the neighborhoods of the thirties, forties, and fi fties. The Polish kids, the Italian kids, the Greeks, and the Germans were also a part of that experience. How did we get along? Pretty well, I think. People generally observed the rules of pejorative language. Groups defi ned themselves, in part, in the use of pejorative language that those outside the group knew was something that they could not use. It was a way of showing respect. Every group had a way of calling one another out. If you were not in that group, then there were certain insults that you didn't use no matter how heatedan exchange might become.

This story is about giving a gift of yourself not a material gift a gift of love, a gift of a smile, a helping gift. A gift of devotion and the rewarding feeling you receive by giving the gift of just helping or being there for some one in need. Giving straight from your heart. We seem to forget that everyone has the gift of unselfishness. But we don't choose to use it. Let us all try it sometime. Have our children and adults learn the power, and help others. Don't be lazy it feels good to help. In a world of so many advantages we forget that it is sometimes better to give than receive. Not just at Christmas but always, make a little sunshine for someone in need.
Scrappy the Hobo is a story about a colorless hobo because anyone of any race could be Scrappy. To most people 9/11 is a terrible event that took place in the past which they have little or no interest in discussing today. But to an ever-growing multitude of earth's vigilant citizens it's much more than that. Following her gradual, excruciating awakening from denial of how her husband Arturo was murdered is a way for readers to overcome and cope with their own denial.I think people need someone like Anna to take them by the hand and lead them on the same painful journey that she takes in my story, from her assumption that the 9/11 Commission settled the question of who was involved in the atrocity, to finally learning, and accepting, who the real perpetrators were.
This book is highly sexual but in it's fantasy exhibits the ongoing kidnapping of women and human trafficking and how they suffer. Each woman ends up being sold or rescued but still kept by one man chosen for them. Their lives change drastically. Read on but beware explicit sex is part of this story but so is love. Girls and women who are kidnapped and trafficked are usually drugged, raped, threatened and brutalized. Few will have the outcome these characters end up with. Enjoy your read.The adventures these women go through from being kidnapped, brutalized, sold, loved, shot, etc. etc. it's a wonder they survive at all.Now in Part 2 Jim finds four more women when he is in pursuit of the gang that has been terrorizing Robin and Donna. Read the adventures and terror they go through to survive. If they all survive.

The good life for Joe ends suddenly when his wife and daughter die during a shootout between a small-time crook and the police. While the murderer (who also died in the shootout) should be suffering in hell, Joseph fully appreciates that there is no such place as hell - no cosmic maximum-security prison - as he puts it. As close as Joe can get to hell is a recurrent dream in which he is making his way through the netherworld looking for the culprit and his revenge. Joe's path deviates when he meets a band of would-be revolutionaries who are convinced they have found the Messiah, the one who will lead the uprising against the hated Romans. Eventually, Joe encounters the Messiah and quickly determines that this is the one he will follow - Messiah or no. Joe boldly asserts (without understanding the implications) that he will walk through hell if that's what is required. In fact, it is.
