Asia is not only the largest producer of important food items like rice and vegetable oil, but also the largest importer of commodities like soybeans and corn. Additionally, more than half the world's population lives in Asia and thus the largest number of food insecure people are also in Asia. Food security is therefore a matter of paramount importance in Asia.This is the only book of its kind that will explore the range of important issues affecting food security in Asia since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Highlights include discussions on the current state of production on food of vital importance to Asia such as rice, vegetable and fish, as well as information on their future trends in production and consumption. Two case studies are presented on how the two most populous countries in Asia - China and India - have tackled their food security. This book provides an updated discussion of fixed point theory using the framework of p-vector spaces, a core component of nonlinear analysis in mathematics. The book covers three main topics: 1) the 'best approximation approach' for classes of semiclosed 1-set contractive set-valued mappings in both p-vector spaces (including locally p-convex spaces); 2) the general principle of Leray-Schauder alternatives; and 3) various forms of fixed point theorems for non-self mappings.Specifically, the book focuses on the development of general fixed point theory for both single and set-valued mappings. It provides affirmative answers to the Schauder conjecture under the general setting of p-vector spaces (including topological vector spaces as a special class), and locally p-convex spaces. The book establishes best approximation results for upper semi-continuous and 1-set contractive set-valued mappings, which are used as tools to establish new fixed point theorems for non-self set-valued mappings with either inward or outward set conditions under various situations. These results improve or unify corresponding results in the existing literature for nonlinear analysis, and allow for the establishment of the fundamental general theory for the development of fixed point theorems in topological vector spaces since Schauder's conjecture was raised in 1930.This new book is a staple textbook for undergraduate and postgraduate students, a reference book for researchers in the field of fixed point theory in nonlinear functional analysis, and is easily accessible to general readers in mathematics and related disciplines.

This book examines the history of the military comfort women system in China. It aims to give readers a deeper insight into the origin, establishment, and operations of comfort stations, as well as tell the sufferings of comfort women, many of whom were coerced into service. Singapore's success as a global city is in no small part attributable to its stance on foreign labour and immigrants, illustrated by a largely welcoming but discerning immigration regime to fulfil vital socio-economic needs. However, this fairly liberal policy on immigration has been met with substantial disquiet over the last decade. Xenophobic tendencies have surfaced periodically and have been compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic.This edited volume spotlights these contemporary issues on immigrant integration in Singapore, and adopts a functional approach by explicitly bridging academic and practitioner perspectives. The chapters are organised into three sections. The first section on Challenges discusses various dominant trends - obstacles to immigrant integration based on ethnicity, culture and religion, and the fear and associated emotions that characterise reactions to immigration.
