The Church's History of Injustices and Why This Priest Left grew out of the Church's role in the civil rights movement of the 1960's and outlines the Church's role in civil rights from the New Testament through the present time. John Sheehy focuses on the Catholic Church, but includes all Christian denominations, exposing not only the Church's lack of interest in the basic rights of people, but it's role as perpetuator of social injustice. Sheehy, a former priest, examines the Church's actions, finding prejudice against Jews, marriage, women, homosexuals, and others. Sheehy also examines such prominent events as the Inquisition, the Crusades, and heresy, gradually becoming distraught at the actions of the Church he served. His study brings forth a conclusion that the church is outmoded and no longer functional in any area of social justice and this caused him to decide that he could no longer serve under its auspices.

Instead, he waits for people to seek it as the Church does by looking for a likelihood of Christian education before allowing Baptism. This allowance of freedom by God prevents him from bestowing grace on all who enter the world because of the massive sin it leads to. Yet Christ restores the original condition of humans before Adam's sin through grace and baptism as told by St. Irenaeus, who was closer to Apostolic Tradition than the more pessimistic St. Augustine.

This book is a exploration of the notion of personal identity. Here it is shown how the various attempts to give an account of personal identity are all based on false assumptions and so inevitably run aground. One of the first Western thinkers to realize this was David Hume, the 18th century empiricist philosopher who argued that self was a fiction. A new interpretation of Hume's no-self theory is put forward by arguing for an eliminative rather than a reductive point of view of personal identity, and by approaching the problem in terms of phenomenology, Buddhist critiques of the notion of the self, and the idea of a constructed self-image. No Self to Be Found explores the problem of personal identity from the most basic level by raising the question of the existence of personal identity itself.
