Biblical Events Told Truthfully and with Compelling Critical Commentary - Not the Shammed Trash of the Testaments discusses the difference between fact and fiction in the Bible, between truth and fabrication. The heart of this controversial yet incisive book explores the absurd discrepancies between reality and the Testaments of the Bible. The author was inspired to write this book by "the plethora of willfully ignorant Christians who merely read the Bible but do no thinking about it. They go from word to word without questioning anything. Their reasoning, or lack of it, is that whatever is in the Bible is true because whatever in the Bible is true: the logic of an imbecile. For example, they never ask who is narrating Genesis or what 'beginning' is referenced." Born in a coal mining town in West Virginia, H. G. Hastings-Duffield is a retired professor emeritus at Central Michigan University. He spent thirty of his thirty-five-year teaching career at three universities in Michigan. The author retired in 1997 and now lives in Atlanta. This is his twenty-second book. Publisher's website: http://sbprabooks.com/HGHastingsDuffield

    av Garibaldi Sabio

Finding someone in the Witness Protection Program is excruciatingly difficult, precisely because the Marshals Service goes to great lengths to change a witness''s identity and to move the witness, plus spouse and children, far away. Yet Private Detective Rocky Stonebrook accepts an assignment to do precisely that. Astonishingly, Stonebrook and his two sidekicks manage, with a great deal of luck, to locate the hidden woman. But in doing so, they encounter hostile federal marshals and unknowingly elicit the attention of three separate hitmen dispatched by the National Hitpersons Society. One hitman wants to murder the witness, one seeks to kill the witness'' daughter, and the third killer tries to terminate Stonebrook with extreme prejudice.Behind the Curtain: Piercing the Witness Protection Veil is a taut mystery/thriller chock full of adventure, sharp turns, assassins, surprises, and several near-misses. In other words, it''s a must-read.Garibaldi Sabio has published two other novels, 2358 (a mixed genre of sci-fi and courtroom scenes), and Action (a murder mystery for which Behind the Curtain is a sequel, and features the same central character). The author lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he is a member of the Jackson Hole Writers Group, Teton Back Country Horsemen, Citizens Mounted Patrol, and the Jackson Hole Historical Society, for which he is walking tour guide. In previous vocational incarnations, he was an attorney, mediator, trainer, planner, magazine columnist, and the editor-in-chief of a neighborhood newspaper.Publisher''s website: http://sbprabooks.com/GaribaldiSabio

My book begins with my early years growing up, describing a childhood filled with memories of excitement, happiness, warmth, and security. It continues with experiences of growing up with relatives, friends, and neighbors, and how this period of my life molded me into a person with standards, values, and work ethics.I move forward explaining how life is not always fair; bad things happen to good people. My story comes to life as I travel through time, sharing the good and bad relationships along the way, dealing with the consequences of my actions. My ride on this roller coaster explains all the emotions I feel as I leave one phase of life and enter into another. I explain how I dealt with my emotions on puppy love, true love, and the greatest of all: unconditional love.Decisions are made, new paths chosen. I experience marriage, childbirth, rearing children, divorce, and loneliness. My book ends summing up everything that I wish to accomplish, which would be to inspire my readers to take a journey into their own mind, compare their own life, and realize that tough times never last, but Tough Cookies do.About the Author: A semi-retired nurse, Diane Rissner lives in Indiana. This is her first book. "My family is deceased. I am the only one in my immediate family living. I wanted to make sure my children and nieces would come to know our family history. If I did not tell them myself what is in my mind and heart, they would never know."Publisher''s website: http://sbprabooks.com/DianeRissner

  • av Khalid a Wasi
    165,-

It''s Between What they Say is very timely, because increasingly the gulf between secularism and religion gets wider. Unlike the days of old, when there were tremendous conflicts between different religions, today atheism is perhaps a larger threat to the notion of religion or God than another belief. Therefore, the author includes atheism in his specter of beliefs, rather than belief versus non-belief. Khalid A. Wasi promotes the idea that the survival and future of mankind is dependent on global re-education, the type that promotes humans being endowed with the ability to think, as opposed to being subjects of society. He makes the point that character is more than simple manners, but rather is a trigger with universal potency. The author believes compassion is the password, which like a key, unlocks the ability for the world to evolve to its next phase. In spite of numerous wars, global conflicts, and atrocities that we see daily, we still live in the age of Aquarius, and enlightenment will prevail.Discover the key to the genius inherent in many of the great souls and luminaries who have lit the path in religion, science, or art. Humanity is an evolving consciousness and the human family is in conflict because of the lack of true dialogue between societies. Behavior embedded in love and compassion is the key to social salvation.Publisher''s website: http://sbprabooks.com/khalidawasi

    av Joseph S Dale
    175,-

Abdul Al-Hazred had almost finished. Just the final sentence, and his lineage. "Amen!," his pen swept out the wide, detailed Arabic characters, "I have completed it! Naught more can I do! The future is in thy hands, thou who shall read this writing!"And that was as far as he got!Thunder crashed across the sky!But it was as nothing to the roar of triumph that resounded and echoed inside his head! Sheer terror struck his heart. "Oh, my god and goddess!" he screamed, "Save me from the powers of the Old Ones, and the horrors of beyond!"But the voice roared with laughter, "THY GOD AND GODDESS WILL NOT HELP THEE NOW!" it bellowed, "I, AZATHOTH, THE CRAWLING CHAOS, HAVE WON! BE AWARE, MORTAL, AND DESPAIR! THE SPELLS AND CHANTS THAT THOU HAST SO CAREFULLY WRIT, FAR FROM BINDING, WILL RELEASE! THE OLD GODS WILL BE FREED! THOU HAST DOOMED THE WHOLE OF THY PITIFUL HUMAN RACE TO DESTRUCTION!" With a scream of despair, the Arab reached out to the pile of manuscript in a desperate attempt to destroy that which he had written. But it was far too late. Al-Hazred''s heart failed him, and he collapsed to the earth floor. Thus was The Necronomicon, the most evil book in creation, completed, with the death of its author. It was due to destroy other lives in its existence ...Joseph S. Dale lives in Auckland, New Zealand. "I have always been interested in H.P. Lovecraft, whose Cthulhu Mythos I freely adapted for this story."Publisher''s website: http://sbpra.com/JosephSDale

    av Donald C Chivers

The reason religion plays such an influential part in our lives is because extinction would have ended our species if it were not for religion. It also gives us hope that our children donΓÇÖt actually die, but have gone to a far better place called heaven. Such a place had to have a God, and at the time, we had plenty. We are all, without exception, behaviorally programmed. We are all, to a greater or lesser degree, behaviorally manipulated. And we are all, to some extent, mind-poisoned and controlled by early suggestion and example. Extreme manipulation is called radicalization, which is an ancient, obsessive, and viral idea that has been given a name at last. For centuries it has taken possession of the mind of insecure youths who long for total acceptance. These misguided youths reject previous unsatisfactory programming because it hasnΓÇÖt fulfilled to their expectation of self-importance. There is a conscious dismissal of previous associations and a willingness to give of them to gain recognition and appreciation. This book attempts to understand the psychological motivations of ISIS and other movements in an evolutionary framework.

This motivational/inspirational book of poems was written from the heart to the heart. The poetry was born from emotive feelings transferred from actual events, real-life challenges, and distresses that touched the writer''s aching soul.Carron Rivers believes that her voice in writing is for those who are not heard but are hurting, and should be heard one way or the other. It is her hope that the words will help reduce life''s aches.Changing the way others feel by letting them feel the way you feel, is the beginning of changing thoughts, attitudes, and lives. Here then is a collection of motivational and inspirational poems to encourage and inspire lives, and to positively and touchingly make us feel the need to change attitudes, behaviors, and thoughts toward each other.Carron Rivers lives in Scarborough, Tobago. She began writing poetry while in nursing school and continued her writing throughout university while working toward her nursing career. As the author says (from the song "For the Cause of Christ"), "Treasures and trophies quickly pass. But only what''s done for Christ will last. So I will be living my life, only for the cause of Christ."Publisher''s website: http://sbprabooks.com/CarronRivers

Raped Black Male tells my story of being homeless and struggling to overcome depression while coming to terms with being sexually assaulted by my sister at age eight. Beginning in my middle school years, the novel weaves its way through the ''90s to present day, as the stress of exceeding expectations of what it means to be a black male and the crippling unspoken belief that says (without saying) - it''s impossible for a man to be raped - has forced one mental breakdown after another, resulting in thoughts of suicide. This memoir is filled with depth, humor, and honesty about the reality and myth of what it means to be a black male (not all of us can handle a basketball or football), while explaining the burden and responsibility each assigned title has had on my life, the way I prepare my seventh grade students to enter the world, and the way my shattered thoughts have forced me to interact. Using original journal entries written during my early life, each page is inspirational and told from the heart.

  • - The Shaman's Call-Expanded Edition
    av Steven Herrmann
    459

In 1991, author and Jungian psychotherapist Steven Herrmann was "called" by the poet-shaman William Everson to collaborate on writing a book. It is from that event that the subtitle of this book emerged, The Shaman''s Call. Its aim is to instill in readers that if one follows one''s calling from the shamanic archetype with the right attitude, it could culminate in true cosmic awareness. And, it would interconnect the psyche with nature, or what C.G. Jung called the "Self."Such awareness is made clear through the transfiguring power of American poet-shamans, who transmit what they are called by nature to convey: that an experience of the Self is a life-altering experience. The calling can be transmitted by way of an animal power to a person through dreams, transformative relationships, in-depth psychotherapy, religious experiences, art, scientific endeavor, or through the hearing, reading or writing of shamanic poetry.During the conversations with Everson, emerged a vision of the way shamanism has been portrayed in American poetry, from Herman Melville''s Moby Dick, to Walt Whitman''s Leaves of Grass, to Emily Dickinson''s The Complete Poetry, to what Everson achieved in his seminal poems, October Tragedy, The Encounter and Black Hills, and in his literature course at the University of California, Santa Cruz. The conversations form a link between the 80-year-old poet-shaman and the 35-year-old Jungian author Steven Herrmann, who was just beginning to find his own wings as a poet. The Expanded edition commemorates William Everson''s birth on September 10, 1912. Herrmann co-organized three Centennial events to celebrate Everson''s work in the fall of 2012. Part II contains Seven Meditations: William Everson''s Basic Teachings on Vocation, a final conversation with Everson on vocatypes, and Herrmann''s Centennial essays and poems.Herrmann lives with his wife in the wooded hills of Oakland, California. My life in journalism, which began covering a notorious, and until now unsolved murder in Connecticut, led to attempts on my life by cops in two states. You donΓÇÖt have to be black to have cops wanting you dead! I uncovered newspaper corruption wherever I went during my thirty-year career, and also found corruption and dysfunction in government at all levels. I ended up homeless, first on East Coast streets and later in New Mexico, due to the duplicitous nature of some of the papers I wrote for, which promise truth but give anything but. Part I details my poisoning at the hands of constabularies and others in Louisiana, after I exposed an until now unpublished account of a massacre of black soldiers in 1942, which was covered up by the Army and my newspaper. Part II describes homelessness in detail from a first-hand perspective, both on the East Coast and in New Mexico, and it features columns I published while on the streets. Part III describes the effort of Santa Fe cops to eliminate me permanently after IΓÇÖd become a thorn in the sides of corrupt officials and newspapers by filing forty-odd lawsuits. I must be a cat in disguise, since I wrote for newspapers in at least nine states and am still alive to tell the tale. I hope this book will precipitate change in journalism, the love of my life.

Do you know what makes the thunder? As a little boy plays in his room, a storm rages outside. When a loud crack of thunder sends him running to his mum in the kitchen, it begins his journey through the house to various family members for the answer to the question, "What makes the thunder?" See what happens when they all have their own imaginative story to tell. Karen McNaughton has been writing short stories and poems since she was a little girl. The idea for What Makes the Thunder? was born out of the two years she spent living in Vietnam, which has its share of tropical storms. During those times, she would make up fun stories to calm her children. In Queensland, Australia, where they now live, storms are of a similar nature. Her children, she says, have always been her inspiration, and it was a combination of their influence and her passion for the story that led to its creation. McNaughton is now in the process of writing a series of stories in the same genre to provide children with imaginative tales that also impart knowledge. No-Frills Islam is a cut-to-the-bone essay on Islam. It pulls out the core principles of the religion, which was the thrust of what Muhammad brought to humanity. Readers will find the principles within are more likely to resonate with the average reader, whether Muslim, Christian, or even the non-religious.Often it is language that causes divisions in understanding between people. That aside, the idea of purity of faith around or in a benevolent source of life needs to transcend ideological dogma and become the instrument through which humanity evolves to become more complete human beings. This compelling book presents a pure description of Islam, without all the added traditions that come to be attached as an identity via its development and history. It begins by giving the five basic principles and their implications as they affect life and belief.Khalid A. Wasi wrote this book to clear up misunderstandings and distortions of Islam as it is has been presented. He is the founder of the first orthodox Muslim community in Bermuda and is a semi-retired businessman, currently working as a private business consultant. The author grew up in Bermuda and has been a socio/politico activist for the better part of his life. He also served in Bermuda as a human rights commissioner for 13 years (one of those years as chairman of the education committee). He has met five world leaders, including having an audience with King Khalid bin Saud, now deceased. Return to Red Winds contains adult situations and language. The characters from the authorΓÇÖs first novel The Capture of Art are the main topics of interest in this sequel. As they share tea parties, the child Christina, nicknamed Christy, is fascinated with GrammyΓÇÖs storytelling, or as they call it "gossip." They enjoy many years together; they laugh, cry, and bring to mind the life of Olivia Webster Brown and those close to her. Knowing her days are numbered, Grammy has arranged to continue the gossip, and on special occasions has correspondence sent to Christy. Christy, now using her given name Christina, through her love of writing fictitious novels continues the gossip with new characters and new beginnings. With GrammyΓÇÖs spirited love in her heart, the beautiful image of the trees seem to have a way of calling her, and Christina always finds a way to Return to Red Winds.
