This book presents the understanding of how the different forms of regulatory mechanisms, like birth and death, competition, consumption and the like, result in changes in the stability and dynamics of ecological systems. It deals with a profound and unique insight into the mathematical richness of basic ecological models. Organised into eight chapters, the book discusses the models of mathematical ecology, the dynamical models of single-species system in a polluted environment, the dynamical behaviour of different nonautonomous two species systems in a polluted environment, the influence of environmental noise in Gompertzian and logistic growth models, stability behaviour in randomly fluctuating versus deterministic environments of two interacting species, stochastic analysis of a demographic model of urbanization and stability behaviour of a social group by means of loop analysis, thermodynamic criteria of stability and stochastic criteria of stability. The book will be useful tothe researchers and graduate students who wish to pursue research in mathematical ecology.

  • - Characterization and Modeling of Device Architecture, Material and Process Impact

    1 869

This book covers advances in Negative Bias Temperature Instability (NBTI) and will prove useful to researchers and professionals in the semiconductor devices areas. NBTI continues to remain as an important reliability issue for CMOS transistors and circuits. Development of NBTI resilient technology relies on utilizing suitable stress conditions, artifact free measurements and accurate physics-based models for the reliable determination of degradation at end-of-life, as well as understanding the process, material and device architectural impacts. This book discusses: Ultra-fast measurements and modelling of parametric drift due to NBTI in different transistor architectures: planar bulk and FDSOI p-MOSFETs, p-FinFETs and GAA-SNS p-FETs, with Silicon and Silicon Germanium channels. BTI Analysis Tool (BAT), a comprehensive physics-based framework, to model the measured time kinetics of parametric drift during and after DC and AC stress, at different stress and recovery biases and temperature, as well as pulse duty cycle and frequency. The Reaction Diffusion (RD) model is used for generated interface traps, Transient Trap Occupancy Model (TTOM) for charge occupancy of the generated interface traps and their contribution, Activated Barrier Double Well Thermionic (ABDWT) model for hole trapping in pre-existing bulk gate insulator traps, and Reaction Diffusion Drift (RDD) model for bulk trap generation in the BAT framework; NBTI parametric drift is due to uncorrelated contributions from the trap generation (interface, bulk) and trapping processes. Analysis and modelling of Nitrogen incorporation into the gate insulator, Germanium incorporation into the channel, and mechanical stress effects due to changes in the transistor layout or device dimensions; similarities and differences of (100) surface dominated planar and GAA MOSFETs and (110) sidewall dominated FinFETs are analysed.

The problem of enforcing a money judgment exists in every legal system in the world, but the methods and orientation vary significantly. Effective enforcement proceedings are crucial to ensure full access to justice for creditors. Complete and full knowledge of the debtors¿ assets is crucial to choose the appropriate enforcement measure. But each legal system must balance the creditors¿ rights to an efficient enforcement with the debtors¿ rights. The wide differences between enforcement proceedings mirror the way each society tries to find a balance between confronting rights and interests. This book explores and compares how different legal systems approach these issues with a focus on the discovery of debtors¿ assets, which is a common problem for enforcement and execution proceedings in almost every jurisdiction. This is the first book to compare enforcement proceedings around the world and presents a variety of information and country reports from leading experts from four continents. It represents the joint work of academic and legal authorities from Germany, Japan, Korea, France, the UK, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Poland, Russia, Greece, North America, Taiwan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and the EU.

This book provides extensive information on craftsmen-built houses in China. Though some inroads have been made in studying this folk custom, this work represents the first comprehensive and systematic monograph. The book examines the topic at the two main levels of ¿history¿ and ¿theory¿. Combining historical textual research, contemporary textual research, and field study, the book presents systematic information on the folk custom of craftsmen-built houses in China. At the level of theoretical research, it puts forward some original opinions on the major theoretical issues, such as the folk custom of religious belief, the boundary between superstition and religion, and the relationship between oral literature and ritual. The book provides a guide to help readers systematically understand the folk custom of craftsmen-built houses in China. Sharing valuable insights into Chinese architectural history, as well as religious studies, cultural anthropology, and folklore, it will appeal to researchers in the fields of folklore, cultural anthropology, and architecture and can also serve as a popular science book for understanding Chinese architectural culture.

China has made remarkable and rapid progress in the area of science communication, both in theory and practice. This book critically examines all aspects of science communication practices in China. Dealing with major turning points since the introduction of the ¿Science and Technology Popularization Law¿ and the ¿Outline of the National Scheme for Scientific Literacy¿, the book tells a success story by scrutinizing structural changes in science communication policies, education system, construction and efficacious utilisation of science popularisation facilities, and creative use of a mix of traditional and modern channels of communication. The book also gives an in-depth analysis of the monitoring and evaluation mechanism, which constitutes the backbone of the national science communication project. The historical roots of science communication in China include shifts in methodologies, policy instruments, effectual approaches and resultant practices since the days of initial efforts to popularise modern scientific ideas. However, the primary focus of the book remains on the initiatives launched at the turn of the present century. Without losing sight of the national dimensions, each chapter of the book draws from provincial as well as grassroots level experiences. Quantitative and qualitative methods have been used to analyse strengths, weaknesses, hurdles and the efficacy of corrective measures. This book offers a remarkable insight to anyone who is interested in probing the causal relationship between science communication and Chinäs transformation into a modern society. The primary objective of the book is to analyse the nature of ¿science communication with Chinese characteristics¿ and the specificity of the socio-cultural environment in which Science and Technology is located. Though the book is of particular interest to scholars, researchers, students and practitioners of science communication, the narrative style makes it accessible to the general reader who is interested in science-society relationship.
