This book focuses on the evaluation methodology for automotive human-machine interaction (HMI), which aim to reduce driving distractions, lower operational loads, optimize user experience design, and enhance user value. The book is divided into three parts. The first part, consisting of Chapters 1¿3, introduces the evolution of automotive HMI and proposes a three-dimensional orthogonal evaluation system for automotive HMI that is comprehensive, systematic, and quantifiable. This evaluation system incorporates all evaluation items into a spatial matrix consisting of three dimensions: interaction tasks, interaction modalities, and evaluation indexes. The second part provides a comprehensive presentation and in-depth discussion of the evaluation indexes. The three rational evaluation indexes are utility, safety, and efficiency, which can be tested by the real-car driving simulator. The four emotional evaluation indexes are cognition, intelligence, value, and aesthetics. In orderto standardize the latter two subjective indexes, this book summarizes common differences in value between Chinese and European users and organizes typical aesthetic orientations in automotive UI based on art history research. The third part introduces the application of this HMI evaluation system in the automotive R&D process, including how to integrate the evaluation into a real product development process to achieve efficient product iteration. This book is suitable for intelligent cockpit and HMI designers, engineers, and researchers. It is also used as a reference for product managers and students in the field of intelligent connected vehicles.

This book proposes alternative ways to engage with computer security, rooted in Science and Technology Studies (STS) and extensive ethnographic observations. Computer security, the author argues, is part of living in the Anthropocene ¿ an age of damaged more-than-human relations. As such, doing computer security means not striving for technical solutions, or individual awareness, but living with fragility. The book suggests conceptual approaches and methods of studying computer security which contribute to current debates on infrastructural breakdown and ecological ruins in STS and Anthropology, while offering new perspectives to Usable Security and Critical Security Studies.

Multimedia watermarking is a key ingredient for integrity verification, transaction tracking, copyright protection, authentication, copy control, and forgery detection. This book provides an extensive survey from the fundamentals to cutting-edge digital watermarking techniques. One of the crucial aspects of multimedia security is the ability to detect forged/tampered regions from the multimedia object. In this book, we emphasized how tampering detection, localization, and recovery of manipulated information not only limits but also eliminates the scope of unauthorized usage. Finally, this book provides the groundwork for understanding the role of intelligent machines and blockchain in achieving better security in multimedia watermarking.Readers will find it easy to comprehend the wide variety of applications, theoretical principles, and effective solutions for protecting intellectual rights soon after reading this book.

This book constitutes the second volume of 'Religion Matters: The Contemporary Relevance of Religion' (Springer, 2020). Offering a fresh and much-needed perspective, it explores the role of religion in the modern, neo-liberal world. The book acclaims that 'religion' is a contextual and contested term, which is extensively discussed in the Introduction.Designed to be read selectively, this book allows readers to delve into topics and traditions of specific interest without the necessity of reading the entire volume. In contrast to volume 1, where contributors critically engaged with religion and various disciplines, this book poses a fundamental question: Can religion contribute to the discipline under consideration?Authors were selected based on their ability to address this question. Some chapters concluded that religion may offer very little to the discipline under consideration, highlighting the value of volume 1's critical stance on the place of religion incontemporary society. However, the project's overall aim remained somewhat unfulfilled, leading to the creation of this second volume. The primary omission from the first book was a comprehensive exploration of the sciences and health sciences, which this second volume aims to rectify. Furthermore, additional authors were chosen to investigate the nature of connectedness facilitated by religion, horizontally through membership within wider communities, societies, cultures, or religious traditions, and vertically by examining historical relationships within a particular faith tradition, culture, community, or society. This volume also broadens its focus to include non-Christian perspectives, Indigenous perspectives, and an increased representation of female contributors.

Leather and its products are globally traded commodities known for durability, fashion, reuse, repurpose, and resistance to degradation. Despite its benefits, the leather industry faces criticism from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) due to its adverse environmental impact and often unfavourable labor conditions in non-certified tanneries. Efforts to enhance sustainability continue, yet challenges persist, prompting calls for revamping leather processing methods to ensure the industry's future compliance requirements. This monograph, through its 17 chapters, aims to address the multifaceted challenges and opportunities within the leather manufacturing industry, encompassing leather processing, product creation, and policy frameworks. The monograph includes contributions made by researchers, scientists, government officials, industry stakeholders, policymakers, and practitioners from more than 10 countries. It underscores the necessity for developing nations to grasp, address, and enhance their processing and manufacturing infrastructure including labor practices as well as meet export standards, to attain sustainability and compliance. Moreover, the book delves into formulating robust policies governing the leather processing and product sector, emphasizing the need for stringent regulations to mitigate adverse environmental impacts. By offering insights into smart and sustainable leather and leather product manufacturing practices, the book serves as a valuable resource for leather professionals and other stakeholders

This book first attempts to explore the nexus between urban innovation and sustainable development goals (SDGs). It puts together global examples of urban innovation initiatives, highlighting practical, policy-oriented, social, and technological interventions. The case studies are divided into four clusters of ¿green cities¿, ¿inclusive cities¿, ¿resilient cities¿, and ¿healthy cities¿. In doing so, the book maps various global examples of urban innovation for sustainable pathways and directions. It also highlights means of implementation of tool and technologies, data, financing, and governance. The overarching aim is to provide a holistic overview of urban innovation sustainable development nexus, which would help future policy development, paradigm shifts, and technological applications.By summarising a selection of successful initiatives, interventions, and projects, this book highlights how urban innovation could accelerate achieving SDGs. The lessons learned from each case studycluster are narrated as knowledge transfer platforms for future city development and achieving sustainable development. These lessons will be beneficial to practitioners and governments, as well as researchers and academics who are interested in urban innovation research. City case studies included in the book are based on their success stories as role models for other cities in developed and developing nations. This collection helps us portray a more holistic image of urban innovation aligned with the SDGs and pathways to achieving them.
