The Book of Bamidbar is the fourth book of the Five Books of Moses. Volume 8 of Path to the Light includes Rav Berg's commentary on the portions of: Bamidbar, Naso, Beha'alotcha, Shlach Lecha, and Korach. These portions are not the intrigues of a nation, but instead describe the energetic machinations of the physical world: how, where, and when to capture energy; how to navigate and transform darkness into Light; how to protect ourselves from danger as well as know where it lurks; and ultimately how to garner the force to win the ultimate war against our own limitations and self-destructive temptations. Rav Berg tells us again and again that the Bible is not a history book nor is it an allegory of our lives; the Torah is an arsenal of spiritual tools: specific letters and sequences that provide us with the spiritual energy to fortify and strengthen our spiritual work in this dimension of life. This understanding and wisdom about the metaphysical nature of the universe was once only known by a few kabbalist throughout history. Now, because of the efforts and teachings of Rav Berg--as he removes the covering that kept the Bible and its tools concealed for centuries--each and every person can fulfill their destiny and achieve a life of happiness and mastery over the physical terrain.

On a literal story level, the Book of Vayikra reveals the laws of living a pure and holy life. We read about the building of a Tabernacle in the wilderness, the different sacrificial offerings; the Priestly garments and roles, knowing what to eat and what is unfit; and what relationships are forbidden. The holidays of Passover, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot are also mentioned, as is the Jubilee Year, the Shabbat, and the Sabbatical Year. However, Rav Berg reminds us that the purpose of the Bible is not religion, instead the Bible is a code that describes the spiritual machinations of this physical world. He says: "The essential reason of sacrifice is not to appease God but to cleanse ourselves; to clean ourselves of corrupted DNA that we brought upon ourselves."

The Zohar explains that learning about the codes of the Bible helps us to awaken our consciousness. Throughout this anthology series, Rav Berg deciphers the Bible allowing us to understand its hidden wisdom and draw spiritual energy when we hear it read. In Volume 2 we find discussions on the portions of Vayera, Chayei Sarah and Toldot. The particular portion of Vayera is regarded as one of the most important and difficult of all Torah portions, yet here the Rav devises straightforward ways of explaining them in easily understandable terms. In these pages we discover what a few lines about Abraham reveal about the mysterious stages of cosmic Creation. In Chayei Sarah, the Rav plunges into his commentary by addressing how a simple statement of Sarah's age discloses one of Kabbalah's deepest mysteries. In Toldot, he offers a profound explanation of teshuvah--the technology that can bring us back to a new future--and instructions for utilizing it to create another consciousness.

The Book of Shemot is traditionally known as the adventures and history of the Israelites as they are led by Moses in the wilderness after the exodus from Egypt. Volume 6 contains the accounts of the giving of the biblical laws on Mount Sinai and the dramatic moment as the Israelites fell in the creation of the golden calf, as well as raising of funds and the construction of the Tabernacle and the design of the clothing donned by the High Priest is also mentioned. Although this storyline may seem irrelevant today, Rav Berg spares no detail as he enlightens us about our soul's journey through physical existence and the concealed treasures available to all of humanity in the Book of Shemot. He explains that the Hebrew word Shemot means "names" not "exodus," as is commonly understood, and that many Names of the Creator, including the 72 Names of God are found throughout the Book of Shemot. These Names are aspects of energy emanating from the Lightforce of God, which are meant to support us when we face challenges in our own lives.

Path to the Light, Shemot, Volume 5, contains Rav Berg's commentary gathered from 30 years of discourses on the portions Shemot, Va'era, Bo, and Beshalach. Within these pages the reader will be guided not only on the journey of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt, through the wilderness but more importantly on the passage of the human soul. Though we may be familiar with the highlights of this story, the kabbalistic explanation of what is available for us from these sections of the Bible are far from a history lesson. The Rav answers questions such as: What is the process a soul goes through as it traverses this physical plane? Why is there chaos and wickedness around us and how can we protect ourselves from it? The Creator pledged to the Israelites and to all of humanity for all time, "You are not here alone." The purpose of the desert is to give us the space to develop a true love between us and the Creator, through the lessons we learn on our way.

With characteristic wisdom and humor, the Rav decodes the Bible's grand saga to uncover a truly holy, timeless, unchanging communication from one generation to the next. In this volume we find discussions on the portions of Vayetze, Vayishlach, and Vayeshev. These readings are perhaps some of the most enigmatic and unsavory of all Torah portions, yet with the Rav's insight, Jacob's ladder becomes an explanation for the very structure of reality itself, as well as the means by which the miracle on Mount Sinai came into being, when the blessing of the Torah was given to humankind. We see that the word Sulam, Hebrew for "ladder," has the numerical value of 130, the same value of the word Sinai, making both the metaphor and the practical connection crystal clear. Here the Rav reveals the real structure and purpose of the universe, along with a methodology for embarking on a quest for truth, peace, wisdom, and the secret of spiritual correction.

Path to the Light Beresheet, Volume 4 is filled with the light and love that lies at the heart of the Rav's relationship with the wisdom of Kabbalah. In his commentaries on the Torah, dealing with the portions of Miketz, Vayishlach, and Vayechi, the Rav expounds on the idea that shichecha is an energy-intelligence that creates a condition of forgetfulness; not as a result of the absence of memory but rather because a force of darkness called ketz, which means "end," causes the memory bank to become covered, creating the illusion that it is seemingly blank. Using everyday examples, from the media or common experiences, Rav Berg unravels the Bible's coded messages with simplicity and humor, revealing to the reader practical ways in which kabbalistic principles can be applied to increase the measure of happiness, joy, and peace in life and throughout the world It is not necessary for the reader to review the Path to the Light volumes in any specific order, for they serve solely to radically improve our lives, and this objective is achieved and found in abundance wherever we dip into the text.
