  • - The Truth Behind the Moon Landings, Censored Photos, and the Face on Mars
    av Nick (Nick Redfern) Redfern
    195

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration - NASA - was established on July 29, 1958. Ever since that day, NASA has been at the forefront of efforts to explore outerspace, resulting in the Apollo missions to the moon, the Skylab space-station and today''s space shuttle. But behind the open face of NASA, there is a much more mysterious world. NASA has been linked to a wealth of high-level cover-ups, including:┬╖Claims that the Apollo moon landings of 1969 to 1972 were faked as part of an effort to demonstrate military and technological superiority over the former Soviet Union┬╖NASA''s role in hiding the truth about the controversial face on Mars - which many believe to be a carved structure, created in the remote past by long-extinct, indigenous Martians┬╖NASA''s deep and longstanding involvement in the famous UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico, in the summer of 1947┬╖Deep Throat-like NASA sources that have attempted to blow the lid on NASA''s most guarded secrets concerning the U.S. Government''s interactions with aliens."Nick Redfern [is] the Brit with a knack for ferreting out all the dope on outrageous subjects."- Jim Marrs, best-selling author of Psi Spies and Alien Agenda

  • av Eliphas Levi
    369

This is Eliphas Levi's (18101875) bestknown book. This work arguably made Levi THE most influential writer on magic since the Renaissance. Originally issued in French, the English translator is A.E. Waite and it is doubtful that anyone else could have better captured the essence of Levi's work. The book is divided in two parts/ the first is theoretical, the second practical. This is a fascinating and often debated work involving a discussion that covers almost the entire realm of Ritual and High Magic.

The Weiser Field Guide to Cryptozoology includes information, interviews, and stories about forty different cryptids seen in various places all over the world by credible eyewitnesses like policemen, rangers, and doctors. Readers will learn where and how to find flying humanoids, hairy humanoids, giants of all kinds including rabbits, bats and spiders, goblins, vampires, werewolves, demons, aliens and ghosts. In the third book of our Weiser Field Guides, BellaOnline paranormal editor, Deena West Budd, surveys the still-emerging field of cryptozoology--a term coined in the 1950s by a French zoologist named Bernard Heuvelmans--the study of "hidden" or "unknown" animals not recognized in standard zoology. From traditional cryptids like Big Foot, the Abominable Snowman and Nessie, to mythical cryptids like unicorns, vampires, dragons, and werewolves, to lesser-known cryptids like bunyips (waterhorses), Encantado (Dolphin Men of Brazil), thunderbirds, mothmen, and chupacabra, these creatures are very much alive, says Budd, even if beyond the realm of normal perception. The Weiser Field Guide to Cryptozoology includes a brief history of the field of cryptozoology and surveys all the creatures for which any credible amount of research exists. Budd gives readers tips on how to spot these creatures, as well as cautionary advice on how to interact with them. Two dozen line drawings rendered from eye witness descriptions accompany the text.

  • - Of the Virtues of Herbs, Stones, and Certain Beasts, Also a Book of the Marvels of the World

    255

In order to attract readers, it was not uncommon for magical texts of the 16th century to take on the name of a notable historical figure. Such is the case with The Book of Secrets of Albertus Magnus, whose secrets are, in fact, a compilation from a number of sources by an anonymous author who was, according to editors Best and Brightman, probably one of Albertus Magnus' followers. Though it "...pretends to be a product of his experimental school among the Dominicans at Cologne", it has a more colloquial voice than that of Albertus Magnus. It more accurately portrays the popular magical literature available in the 16th century than the erudite works directly attributable to Albertus Magnus. The secrets revealed are divided into five distinct parts: -- Of the Virtues of Herbs -- Describes 23 herbs, their magical, astrological, and medicinal properties, as well as preparations and recipes.-- Of the Virtues of Stones -- Presents 45 entries from the lapidary of Albertus Magnus, Mineralia, listed by their particular effect or specific magical property.-- Of the Virtues of Beasts -- Lists 18 animals, their natural powers, and their use in performing magical feats.-- Of the Planets -- A treatise on the hours of the day governed by the various planets, and a discussion of their astrological qualities.-- The Marvels of the World -- A theoretical discussion of magic emphasizing the necessity of experiment, followed by a large number of recipes from various sources. This edition features an in-depth introduction by scholars Michael R. Best and Frank H. Brightman outlining the history of the text, its historical/cultural context, and the variant manuscripts sourced. It is aninvaluable study for students of the history of Western magic, and those interested in the evolution of printed works through the ages. Includes a list of works cited, a collation of the different editions and manuscripts, and an index.

av Stanton T. (Stanton T. Friedman) Friedman
    299

FLYING SAUCERS AND SCIENCE is a comprehensive look at the scientific data on the flying saucer phenomenon. Nuclear physicist and lecturer Stanton T. Friedman has distilled more than 40 years of research on UFOs and shares his work on a wide variety of classified advanced nuclear and space systems. He answers a number of physics questions in layman''s terms, and establishes that travel to nearby stars is within reach without violating the laws of physics.Photographs of little known, far-out advanced propulsion systems, some of which he worked on, are included. Friedman also presents data demonstrating the ability to withstand high accelerations with some surprising results. He clearly shows that government policy on this subject has been to provide false, misleading claims and disinformation and establishes that the subject truly represents a Cosmic Watergate.FLYING SAUCERS AND SCIENCE presents intriguing data from a number of large-scale scientific UFO studies that almost no one, especially the noisy negativists, has discussed in detail. It deals with a host of "why" questions, such as reasons for the cover-up, reasons for aliens to come to Earth and reasons for not landing on the White House lawn. Friedman unveils the SETI (Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence) programme and details the antipathy of science-fiction writers to UFOs and other mysteries of the saucer conundrum. False notions about those who believe in the reality of alien visitors and the adequacy of coverage by the journalistic and scientific communities are also reviewed. In this book you''ll discover:┬╖What type of energy and technologies could provide travel between the stars.┬╖The most likely locations in the universe where aliens come from.┬╖Why the aliens are here.┬╖Who believes in the flying saucer phenomenon.┬╖The government''s motives to cover-up.

  • - The Assassins, the Templars, and the Secret Tribunals of Westphalia
    av Thomas Keightley
    309,-

Secret Societies of the Middle Ages explores the foundations of modern secret societies, examining the history and known facts of three very different organizations.1. The Assassins of the Middle East-how they evolved from an Islamic religious sect into one of the most feared groups in all the world and how the very name of this ancient order became the word used for political killings of this nature.2. The Templars of Europe-from a pious group of protectors and dedicated crusaders to their bitter end persecuted as heretics, they introduced the concept of banking to the world while amassing a fortune of incalculable wealth.3. The Secret Tribunals of Westphalia-the feared and self-appointed judicial group who passed judgment and performed executions in a time of lawlessness in Germany. They enjoyed popular support, providing a rudimentary and vigilante law at a time when warlords ruled and the emperor was ineffective. The echoes of these particular societies are still heard today-from presidential offices to battlegrounds in the Middle East. Secret Societies of the Middle Ages, originally published in 1846, was the first book to gather information on these secret orders. This foundational reference work, upon which many contemporary histories have relied, is now back in print with an introduction by James Wasserman, author of The Templars and the Assassins: The Militia of Heaven.
