The Spitfire XVI is one of the Spitfire mark to have been so far little covered in depth. It was actually a Mk. IX engined with an American built Packard engine but otherwise it was very familar to a IX. Used in the fighter-bomber role, from the UK with the Fighter Command or from the Continent with the 2 TAF, one of the main task given to the XVI would be the destruction of the V-2 sites located in Holland. This book gives the details of the operations carried out by the British squadrons, Nos. 66, 74, 127, 229, 602 and 603. This study doesn't continue beyond the summer 1945. A pictorial study of the USN aircraft between 1922 and 1962. Over forty years, between 1922 and 1962, the USN and USMC used a designation system which began with biplanes and ended with jets, having been used through two major wars, WW2 and the Korean War. This system remained largely the same during that time, though it evolved with the introduction of new types and technology, and new exceptions developed as well. The purpose of this series is to explain this system using photographs. This fourth volume contains over 100 photographs and covers the Class BF (Bomber-Fighter) and BT (Bomber-Torpedo) in full and the first part of Class F (Fighter). The aircraft described are BFB, BFC, BF2C, BTC, BT2C, BTD Destroyer, BT2D Skyraider, BTK, BTM Mauler, FA, F2A Buffalo, F3A Corsair, FB and F2B.

The North American P-51 is among the most famous fighters of WW2, and the P-51D probably the model the most known. It belongs to what we usually call the third generation of Spitfires, and the F.21 was the first of it, preceding the F.22 and F.24. The full history of the Fortress Mk.I (B-17C) is described. This was somewhere an experiment led by the British under the secret supervision of the Americans. Many lessons were learned by the RAF but the British eventually discarded the Flying Fortress as a day bomber, what the Americans decided to ignore. Over 30 photos, 2 colour profiles.
