In The Can't Ant, author William Lawrence Drake presents a thoughtful analysis of America's complicated history with slavery while evaluating its impact on education and religious and political discourse for African Americans in the South, and in particular, Dallas, Texas. Exposing educational shortcomings and calling for an end to revisionist history lessons, Drake lays bare his concern for the future of America and advocates for stronger community commitment and a return to God and family values in order to save the country from destruction. Drake's commentary is a rallying cry to younger generations and promotes the inexorable truth that love can conquer hate. But Drake reminds us that in order for love to shine freely, the filters of ignorance, intolerance, bigotry, and divisiveness must be removed, and he challenges us to examine and discuss our own values and desires for the future of our great nation.

This heartfelt Southern memoir is a collection of short stories that Edward L. Pope Jr. lived through, saw, experienced, or was a part of in some way. His stories tell of events, family, friends, and people he's been associated with since birth. There's a lot of laughter and drama, excitement, adventure, and suspense, real life tragedy and sorrow. Some of it will make you mad, and some will leave you wondering, but all of it is true. Everyone has stories that should be shared. A lot happens in our lives that we never reveal to anyone, keeping things locked behind the doors of our own personal privacy. If we unlock those doors and give others a glimpse inside, maybe they can learn from our lives, share adventures, while enjoying a little laughter along the way. Being ordinary is not so ordinary, after all.

The Dividing of America is a true story taken from volumes of court transcripts, depositions, news articles, video news presentations, felony booking warrants, and voluminous personal notes that all became public documents with the fraudulent arrest of an Oklahoma contractor and businessman. What began as nothing more than the bidding of a construction project led down a path of corruption, shady lawyers, corrupt public servants, and judges who hide the truth from the juries and hire criminal hitmen as special process servers!

What Difference Does It Make? is a true story of one individual who still believes in the democratic system that is now being stripped away from the honest American, and the struggle this one person went through to attempt to preserve it. With over seventeen years with the FAA and numerous excellence awards with cash bonuses, my career ended up being fired for "e;lack of candor"e; in my refusal to reveal what I had provided to the FBI after the retaliation began from my testimony in Washington DC, and the continued attacks. A complete lack of true management ability and training, including to the accidents of two FAA aircraft involving pilots who saw the corruption and the near fatal accident that were all set up by unscrupulous maintenance personnel at the direction of FAA management. A continual string of fraudulent contracts, all for just under $10,000,000 that happened to coincide with the limit of which the DOT/OIG would be required to audit. The majority of the story takes place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. Here, a group of "e;managers"e; who care for nothing other than their own gratifi cation and stolen wealth manipulates the budget, contracts, and contractors to their own best interest, leaving the American taxpayer to foot the bill! The fraudulent activities of FAA management completely turned my life upside down immediately after I testified. The few true friends who in two cases emerged from the woodwork to assist me during the worst time of my life came shining through. From professed good friends to a wife and on to a business partner who turned on me when they felt they could gain from my loss. At the time of testifying against the FAA, I had no criminal history, no bankruptcies, and a perfect credit history. My purpose is now to educate the American taxpayer as to what was and is occurring within the FAA after the FAA Re-Authorization Act of 1994 was signed into law by President William Jefferson Clinton. The Federal Aviation Administration has a budget that grows faster than the national debt, and we the people will receive nothing for it. Managers, if you wish to call them such, manipulate funds and budgets for their own personal gain and sell the American taxpayer a bill of goods. From our Mexican nationals who are in top management positions to the inspector who is told what to find on accident investigations, the system is broken all due to in part to the Congressional Act in 1994 that allowed the FAA to operate without outside supervision. How many times have you heard on the news after an aircraft accident or incident, "e;The FAA is investigating?"e; Did TWA Flight 800 really have a leaking fuel cell? The factual data shows a completely different story. This story goes from the investigations to the death threats of this one individual and the near accidents that beset him to his rapid termination! "e;He will be long in a pine box before he ever recovers anything from us!"e; I would like to state a great debt of thanks to Larry Benson, Mark Hendrix, Lois Ballard, Jack Vance, and especially to Clifford MaGee. Had it not have been for these five people; the outcome may have been dramatically worse.

UNFIT is a true story of corruption within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that depicts the various struggles within the organization, complete with a well-developed assassination plot, disregard for the lives of any citizen in the traveling public and apparent payoffs from those who seek approval. The FAA uses a standard game plan. First it attempts to buy-off anyone who might become a whistleblower. If this doesn't work, it will stoop to murder - that's what I said - murder. If its intended target survives and actively pursues an effort to expose the agency for what it is, the FAA will publicly discredit and financially break that person.Unfit will blow your mind. Clearly, the FAA is not just another Federal Agency run amuck, because it has responsibility for air travel safety. Believe me, I was as surprised and dismayed as you will be by the amount of criminality and mismanagement within the FAA. Fasten your seat belt! It's going to be a bumpy ride.

365 days to record your most significant personal birthdays: The happy ones, the sad ones, and the forgotten ones, all to be celebrated. Each day, read a thought to consider on that special day of birth. Here is a small book to keep nearby to remind you that there is always something to feel, think about, and do for that special someone you love. It is their Birthday! The other thoughts and messages in this book are brief recaps of what we all went through during the 2020 pandemic, physically, mentally, and spiritually, such as the frightful, enduring thought of possibly losing a loved one...a dreadful thought that lingers to plague us still today. Also during the past year, we have endured inhumane suffering, social unrest, and witnessed our precious democracy blatantly being swept under the rug by a large, egotistical broom of divisiveness, leaving us in its dust with sudden "reformation," new plans, new challenges, and the political disease our country is now infected with.365 daily birthday messages, along with environmental awareness as well as the effects that COVID19 has had upon us throughout the year. Each page contains a thought and four or five blank lines to write names of persons you would like to celebrate.

Most of us would agree that New York and the South are very different places today, both culturally and politically. Yet, surprisingly, during the 19th century they shared a common outlook. As a native New Yorker, Donald J. Green was astonished to learn that Varina Davis, the First Lady of the Confederacy, and her daughter Winnie, "e;The Daughter of the Confederacy,"e; moved to New York City after Jefferson Davis died in 1889. While researching Varina's life in New York, he discovered that thousands of Confederates moved to the big city after the Civil War. Green's investigation uncovered close ties between New York and the South dating back to pre-Civil War, and his research proved what began as a business association between the regions over cotton evolved into personal affinities. A fascinating deep dive into the Confederates' remarkable connection with New York City, Jefferson Davis's New York City also demonstrates the power of change.
