Because of the bad economy and personal circumstances, I found it necessary to combine my middle book, Shadows of the Past, with this book, The Road to Visibility. My first book, Invisible Me, tells of my four-year hospitalization because of a life of abuse and betrayal. With no real support system, I simply lost my will to live. I hope you find this book informative and helpful as I reveal the reasons I lost my will to live and was hospitalized. I also share my healing stages and setbacks as time has passed.

The Mojave Desert is a complex place. Seemingly empty with sand, rocks, and creosote bushes, there is so much hidden life. Jackrabbits, coyotes, roadrunners, snakes, tarantulas, lizards, and...the elusive bighorn sheep.Shawn finds himself there doing research for his university project about the bighorn in the Avawatz Mountains southwest of Death Valley. He has time to sit and observe or hike and explore. As Shawn realizes that the Big Horn sheep aren't coming to him, he decides to hike around the Avawatz Mountains to try to find them.As he climbs the face of the mountains, he sees the opening of a long-abandoned mine. There is both adventure and danger as he enters the mine with a dim flashlight and a sense of curiosity.It wasn't long before he is onto a trail to the mysteries of the mine and "Anderson's grave" not far away. It's complicated by another visitor.He's isolated...but not alone.
I can't say what inspired me to create "Weird" because I really don't know. The short, stupid poems simply started appearing on my computer screen, as I sat there musing one day, in my daily daze. More showed up the next day, and still more the day after that... and so forth. Soon after the last poem came to me, the illustrations for them began to emerge on my drawing pad, as I sat doodling at my drafting table. That, in itself, was weird!
