When you experience as much hurt and pain that I have throughout my life, it was very hard for me to expect anything different. When I went around family, they always found the wrong things to say to me, and it didn't bother them at all to say those horrible things out of their mouths. I swallowed it and laughed it off sometimes, and sometimes I didn't take it so well.Because I am working on my healing and forgiving process, I stay away from all negativity. I need to be in a peaceful environment in order to concentrate on my healing and forgiving process. With peace and tranquility comes happiness and a clear mind to think and use my wisdom to heal. I have been conducting a serious inventory on my life.After I clean out all the unwanted things out of my life, the healing and forgiving journey will begin. I feel great about this because it's what I need before I can move forward with life. Now I am happy. I still cry, but these are happy tears, and that's a fantastic feeling. I thank God for allowing my healing and forgiving process to go well. I know with all this joy comes belief, hope, and a great deal of faith.One thing I realized through this healing and forgiving process, it made my spirit very happy, and I was very proud of myself. Everyone should learn how to forgive because it will have a great impact on your life.

Copper Capers is a humorous account of the experiences, arrests, and the workings of a police department. You can't make this stuff up! Each short story chapter is an incident that becomes an antidote to what would have been a very dull and sometimes dangerous shift. Funny things are said and done by people being chased and caught by the police. For example, the man who adamantly declared, "I'm not taking the Polygram test!" or the woman who stated that she was a hologram are real experiences. This book was meant to invoke a chuckle from those who can relate to some of the stories. But it also provides a look behind the curtain of how police sustain their sanity under immense pressure.

Many of us that like to read are not necessarily interested in books that take up a lot of time getting to the point of what the writer would have the reader experience as one page follows another. For this reason, books that contain short stories fill a category allowing the reader to put as little or as much time in reading that time allows. This best describes the articles found in this work, The Fall of a Lying Nation.This nation was established by God in the same sense the children of Israel were established, placing them in the promised land flowing with milk and honey. There is no denying the fact that the parallels of these two nations are similar. In the case with Israel, the Bible gives a recorded history of its long existence even to its first inception. The Bible also prophesied its destruction, saying, "Therefore shall Zion for your sakes be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps" (Micah 3:12). God suffered long with His people and was very patient with the seed of Abraham. In the same way, our Father in heaven has been slow to wrath in dealing with the moral decline of this nation as truth is rejected, not just spiritually but now secularly, as a lying nation fills up their cup, awaiting God's indignation. This same God allowed Israel to cease as a nation in AD 70 because righteousness wasn't important to its people or its leaders. This is where we are as a nation. "And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter" (Isaiah 59:14). Truth has had a hard struggle in the church for many years. Now that struggle has taken to the streets. Equity is righteousness.

Grandfathers can have a positive influence on their grandkids. The author writes how a grandson develops an interest and a love for the sport of trapping muskrat and mink. The descriptions and habits for muskrats and mink are included as well as a list of recommended trapping equipment. Having read this book, the reader will have enough beginning knowledge to start his own trapline. A must-read for the beginning trappers!

There are many avenues that we all follow during our lives. Like avenues, some adventures are straight from the beginning of the road to the end with no turns, curves, hills, or bumps. The many avenues that our friend, Slim, takes will open roads to different adventures, challenge our thoughts of which lane we should take, have us believe that we are not alone on this busy highway. There are many similarities among us all in a traffic jam. We avoid the many holes in the road by occasionally veering off course and developing a new route and creating a feeling of gladness following along on this wonderful trip. No matter how many avenues you have on your journey, understand that it is your adventure, and there's a "Slim" chance that someone has traveled the same path!

I chose the title It Only Hurts When I Cry because when I was a child, and I was being physically beaten, or back then they would call it discipline, I refuse to cry. Because in my mind, if I cried, the pain would come, so I build an exterior wall around myself and refused to submit to the pain. Therein was where the title It Only Hurts When I Cry came from. I know truly now that that was just a coping mechanism. That enabled me to survive emotionally, mentally, and physically. But for me, the words were just so powerful that I chose to title my first memoir about my tumultuous upbringing It Only Hurts When I Cry by Lisa Bethel-Young.

The Journal of a Poet: Roses and Ribbons is an account and reflection of high school days, thoughts, journal entries, poetry, essays, and short stories that I originally wrote to document my feelings and perspective on life at that moment in time. I have always enjoyed writing since an early age and have had diaries; however, they did not include much poetry. So I decided to write predominantly poetry in this journal that would repercuss my love for writing rhyme, free verse, sonnets, and even other avenues to express my zealous, hot-blooded, excited, or whimsical state!Though most of the entries are true, there are some fictional depictions in the book like about dating or going to the club. I was seventeen, but I was not allowed to date, furthermore, unable to go to a club of any sort. When I added these fabrications, it was just my imagination roaming free, wondering how these things would actually be like; would I enjoy them...I just calligraphically put myself there as if I was experiencing those things at that particular time.I titled the book The Journal of a Poet: Roses and Ribbons because my cousin Elizabeth Duncan gave me a journal for my birthday. This was in which I wrote in and held very dear to me because she knew I loved to write (and the cover of the journal happened to have rose petals and ribbons everywhere).I wanted to share this with the world. Though it is very personal, I think there is a lot to gain from the book. I hope you enjoy!

But in the end, it will all turn out to be sweet. But you'll just have to see to find out! Drama, lies, drugs, a violent history, lust, discovery, faith, true love, trust, murder, and digging out the truth despite of the nature of the circumstance!
