If you believe there are no coincidences in life and we are on a destined path, then this book will attest to that perception. The story of Luz is where this journey begins. It is a powerful example of strength, of will to push through one's fears, and of raw determination to survive. The lessons and examples of having the courage not only to survive but to ultimately thrive through some of life's hardships eventually became the threads of knowledge that were passed on to Marianna.Marianna enters her life's story only to be abandoned by her mother at the age of three months, her mother who was too young and unwilling to do "e;what it takes"e; to care for the children she brought into the world. Whether by "e;destiny"e; or by "e;coincidence,"e; this child is left with Luz, who had also survived her own tragedy of being left and abandoned after her parents had been killed. Luz would become a grounding force and guiding light in Marianna's life.Marianna spends a lifetime behind the facade of pretending, showing people she was happy and willing to do most anything to show the world how well-adjusted she was. Marianna's journey to discover she was accepted and good enough unfolds in a way that she is able to gain insight into life-her life-thus passing along her own threads of knowledge to her children and generations to come for more of the tapestry to be woven.

When the childhood friend and secret adviser to the president of the United States pilots his plane to Washington at the request of "e;the man"e; himself, he sets off a chain of events that will take him across the country and into the wilderness as he runs for his life. Despite promising his wife that he had quit the DC scene, Scott Piquard is once again answering the call because of looming war in Central America. Straying into the secret tunnels deep below the White House with the security card given to him by President Brady, he overhears high-ranking officers plotting against Brady's life. Spotting him, they fire on him and make a radio transmission identifying Scott as a would-be assassin. Escaping to his airplane, he must take off into storm clouds and elude the overwhelming resources of the US military, using his outdoor survival skills to outwit his pursuers and try to save his own life and that of the president. Just as it looks like he will succeed, a double twist threatens their lives again in a dramatic conclusion. Last Flight for Whiskey Mike is a fantastic read. I loved what you did with the military scenarios. I have read all of Ludlum and Clancy, and this ranks up there with their top ten percent. -FBI regional supervisor (name withheld due to regulations)

Over the last twenty years of the 20th Century, set in Georgia and primarily in southern California, Patrick Kirk writes a fictional account of the lives of Bryan and Carolyn Jenkins as they traverse the "e;yuppies gotta have it all"e; lifestyle. The story is in some ways a high-tech suspense thriller; part romance, part spy novel. It is about business, mentorship, career changes and their effects on a marriage and having a family in the 90's. It's also about corporate corruption and greed and how the PC software revolution assisted in the decline in American business values. It's a dissection of the Enron-driven rolling electrical blackouts and the company's ultimate demise. Some of the story lines are imagined after people, places, events and technology encountered by the author during his thirty years in the PC software business.

Little Storm came to Cora Phenix shortly after she gave birth to their first daughter, Rhea. She was lying in bed one night, sleep-deprived, trying to get some rest. Next thing she remembers was these verses ringing loud and clear in her head: "e;Little Cloud and Little Storm / Met one day when it was warm."e; She jumped up, picked up her phone from her dresser, and wrote them down. The next morning, she looked at them, and in less than an hour, she wrote the entire thing. Words were coming to her as if whispered by someone else who already knew them, like a dictation. She had no struggle putting them down. For the past five years, this book sat in her phone, waiting to be published. The new mother stage she has just entered then opened a door and allowed this to come out. That fragile little human in her arms who was crying when hungry, laughing when happy, and sleeping when tired inspired this story to come to life. So she dedicates this book to you, new mom from the past, present, and future, and to your little children to tell you that you are a miracle! You are divine perfection and everything you do is perfect!

I was born in Colorado but raised in Arkansas. I like visiting big cities and vacations to other places, but it's the country life I call home. If any of you get the chance to visit Aruba the happy little island, please do, it's amazing and beautiful with very friendly and helpful people. I have been so blessed with many family, friends, and relatives who have inspired me to write this book, and especially my youngest sister who was in a bad car accident in her twenties and suffered serious back injury but it has never stopped her from raising her family or spoiling her grandchildren a single day. God rescued me as a very young child and stuck with me through all my skids off the road. I have always said he doesn't leave us, we leave him; and when we go back, he's right there waiting. I have lived the best days of my life to the fullest and been blessed with so many memories to see me through the time I have left on this earth. Laugh, live, and love while you are young and healthy so you can live off the memories when your older and can't go the way you want to.

A coming-of-age and picaresque story, with a continuum of knee-jerk humor and descriptive details, sees its way through the unpleasantness of abuse and not having any permanent roots or family. Readers follow the main character from childhood to adulthood as he is shifted from multiple homes and states. Throughout the character's journey, the persona he develops is born from innocence, natural-given talents, and his desires to make happiness exist. Although the story begins with horrific abuse, the reader soon realizes that this is not the focus of the book but rather the beginning of a quest. The author's intent is for readers to question "e;What happened?"e; Some questions cannot be answered and remain a mystery. The coming-of-age and rite-of-passage events remind readers of their own stories to tell and compare. A collage of images and feelings will take readers back to their childhood memories as they shadow the main character. The happiness, bitterness, and humor are fueled by extreme turning points and multiple changes of ideologies, cultures, and idiosyncrasies that molded the main character into a psychedelic hodgepodge of personality. Readers will take on all the emotional elements, experiences, and constant changes as they were happening. They uncover the answers and realizations of feeling alone and unwanted until they are warmed and tickled by the character's way of viewing the world. The title of the book and each chapter reflects the constant changes during the main character's life. The theme, style, and language are comparable to Angela's Ashes, A Child Called "e;It,"e;, and I'm Nobody's Child. It is not a woe-is-me book. The detailed descriptions allow readers to feel the despair of what it is like being an anomaly but, more importantly, to enjoy and have fun learning about typical boy fantasies, thoughts, rationales, and the angst and anxieties of growing up.

SOPHIESince the moment I saw his face, my life has been in chaos. I don't know his name, but still I see him night after night-his striking face appearing in my dream. Is it a portent of things to come, warning me to run from him? Or could it mean something else? I can't seem to make any sense of it, and lately, my idyllic life hasn't been so idyllic. I can't tell my parents about these impossible things I can do because I don't want to see that fear in their eyes-the same fear I feel growing stronger in me every day. So instead of running, I make the decision to trust him. I let him calm my fear while I confront truths I'd rather keep hidden. Still, I can't tell him that my greatest fear is the little time we have left. Soon, I'll have to watch him walk away. ZACHI've done some things I'm not proud of, but who hasn't? Okay, maybe I've done a few more than most, but these days I don't give into those distractions. Especially when I feel the consequences in ways nobody could ever understand. Now, I occupy my time by going where I'm needed. I keep things calm and controlled while helping them see the hard choices they'll have to make. I've done it countless times. Except nothing about this girl is like those other times. There's more for her to fear than just these strange, but extraordinary things she can do-she also has a past she doesn't even know about yet. So even if she would prefer to keep me at a distance, I simply can't let that happen. I need to know her secrets and keep her safe. It's what I do. I'm the empath.

On Riding a Bike Blindfolded is based on the thoughts and experiences written by a heroin addict named Scott. His words and illustrations were found and read by his mother, Lori, after he died from an overdose. Due to his addiction, Scott left home and was not welcomed back until he stopped using drugs, something he could not manage to do. He lived from place to place, including abandoned warehouses, condemned shacks, and boxes in alleys, among other uncomfortable places. Undoubtedly, he shared all these places with rats and other hungry creatures. Sometimes, he was lucky and shared a friend's apartment. Other times, he spent weeks, months, or years in jail cells or prison. From all these places, he wrote what has come to be the journal you will read in this book. In every page of Scott's journal, he tells you every part of his life-from what it's like to share a crowded jail holding cell with sick and scary prisoners or being arrested and handcuffed in front of his girlfriend and every detail he suffered during his horrendous journey with heroin. The journal is not just about his experience with addiction. Scott was not just about addiction. He was an athlete, an artist, a pole dancer, the gymnast kind, and a poet. He loved his family, his friends, and especially the girl he hoped to marry. You will find yourself wanting to be his friend one minute, and the next minute, you will want to scream how mad you are because of his choices. This story is like no other one. It is told in a very personal way that makes you feel a part of his life. The last words Scott writes are written on the very day he died. His death will make you sad and maybe a little angry that some very bad people killed himand walked away.

This is a short love story that takes place over a forty-five-year period in our lives. The actual love story only takes place for about a year and a half. In that time, a very strong friendship and love affair would endure forty years, two marriages each, and eight children between us (now grown). I believe in love, miracles, second chances, God, and most of all, our friendship which has never left us. The love affair is a small part of this story. We became friends who trusted, loved, and searched for each other through others but failed until January 12, 2019, when Edie finally found me on Facebook. The story doesn't end here; it begins here.

This is a coming-of-age book. Most young men are thrust into the world at the age of eighteen and told to get a job or go to college. People of a certain age know it's not quite that simple. This book includes advice to young men (and young women, in some cases) about what direction they should be thinking of going into. Being honest, most parents are too busy to focus on the little things that my book will provide, especially to single moms.

When Growing Up Is Magic was inspired by my own childhood, which like many, was incomplete. I discovered that poems could help me express what was great about growing up and, even more, what could have been great if only... When Growing Up Is Magic is a window into a young person's imagination. These poems treat a young person's world and ideas with great respect. For youth, these poems are confirmation. For adults, they take you into a kid's imagination. The result, I believe, is relational connection. When Growing Up Is Magic is a compilation of poems about growing up, being home, family quirks, and things kids love to dream about like dinosaurs and the underwater world. There are poems of inspiration and poems expressing what we love about the seasons. Growing up is a time to cherish, respect, and love. It is a time that passes too quickly. But if we are willing to get a little lost in it, it is magic!

Imagine that your worst nightmare has come true, when fantasy and reality collide. The moment you finally realize that you have a chronic and, more often, fatal disease that attacks your mind, and no one truly cares. Words without actions are simply just words. All because a diagnosis of any metal illness, either mild or severe, is still considered in today's society to be a "e;dirty secret best kept locked in a box buried in a dark place,"e; you find yourself wondering what crime against humanity had you committed that you contracted a disease that will ultimately cost you everything and everyone? The truth you find is that you did not make a choice to get it, that you are not a bad person, and that it simply chose you! Quickly you come to the devastating realization that the ones you loved and trusted the most and that you thought would stand by you, comfort you, and see you through your battles with any illness start dropping like flies one by one until they are all gone. The best part is that on their way out of your life, most of them stab you in the back or directly in your face, betray you, and slander your name and credibility, leaving you with the feeling of worthlessness that morphs into self-medicating that then turns into full-blown addiction, which gives those same people even more ammunition to be used against you and to justify why you are no longer worthy or allowed to be a part of basic family living. No more happy holidays, no more phone calls, no more visits, you have now just become invisible, like your life never even existed. Only you have photographs to prove different. It is now only you, your disease ("e;The Monster"e; inside your mind), and the dark place you hide; so that you no longer have to see or hear your own internal death and crucifixion from the ones that said they loved you the most. Does justice ever prevail? Is there a happily ever after at the end of the rainbow? Or is suicide really the only answer to end our pain and suffering from not being allowed to be a part of the elite, "e;normal society"e;?

Treasures of Darkness is the book of poems about reality of living and life and God's promise as real as it gets. Not realities God says maybe to Muslims, not now to Buddhists, or no to atheists. Not realities he says yes to sometimes, most times, or once in a while. This book of poems is about human experience, in living all the times. Are there such realities? You bet there are. Storm of life is no respecter of person. Man, woman, transgender, gay, lesbian, rich, poor, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, felons, saints, or heroes, every person faces some unexpected changes, heartbreak, or affliction at some point in their lives. I know how hard it is for so many to face change in life, especially sudden or unexpected storm. But I assure you, this book of poems is not just a spiritual or inspirational book. This is about the human experience where "e;treasure in the darkness"e; is available and as real as it gets to everyone-riches in secret place. In the dark, the only thing you can see is light. This is reality, not perception. This book of poems is written to help put things, many times, things you already know in perspective, and show us ways how to cope with self, others, and adversities better by embracing the human experience in every situation. My sincere hope to every reader of Treasure of Darkness is that you will discover, as a mature person, you are not the ones to have answer to everything, but the ones who enter into every situation with purpose. And if you choose to embrace the human experience, discover the purpose and follow the light (the Word), you surely will find your riches hidden in secret place, even in the most despised place, indeed.
