To combat the epidemic of weight gain, improve cardiovascular health, increase longevity while enhancing our quality of life, it is important to develop strategies that facilitate habitual physical activity. Preventing obesity in collaboration with communities, schools, work sites, and health care professionals is the key. Through the process of coloring and reading, the understanding of food and how our bodies form fats is further illuminated. We emphasize the role of exercise as a fundamental part of staying fit and healthy. The current consensus is that three core exercises are essential: aerobic, strength building, and ¿exibility training. It is undisputed that diet and exercise promote good health, productivity, and longevity. Now is the time to start. Meta-analysis, based on various types of exercise, have identified exercises that appear necessary for optimal health, especially for the increasing number of employees in sedentary, computer-based jobs. For example, simply try using "light movement," about once per hour, to stimulate the lymphatic system and increase blood ¿ow to the legs. Simply flex the toes and move your calves up and down. Then stand up and sit down without arm support, five to ten times, repeatedly. Follow up with deep breathing. Just ensure that the lungs are filled up completely. Then expand the stomach also to capacity. Let the air out normally and without pressure. To good health! Picture here of good health

  • - The Struggle for Knoxville and East Tennessee
    av Gregory H Blake
    325,-

Two opposing generals and the people of East Tennessee met in the fall of 1863. For James Longstreet, the commander of the Confederate forces, the campaign for Knoxville and East Tennessee marked the nadir of his military career, which climaxed in December 1863, with him submitting a letter of resignation as commander of the First Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia. For Ambrose Burnside, commander of the Federal forces, the campaign demonstrated his leadership and tactical ability following his December 1862 debacle as commander of the Army of the Potomac at the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia. For the region of East Tennessee and Knoxville, the campaign enabled the people to reach the pinnacle they had aspired to since their settlement of the region. They had escaped economic and religious oppression in Europe, negotiated and fought with the Cherokee Indian Nation, created the State of Franklin (which was denied statehood), saw its political power vanish to Middle Tennessee, and was limited in its economic development by the region's landscape.

Throughout our country's existence there have been those who didn't approve of our form of government. Those with other ideologies have tried to influence our governance since the beginning of our nation. Only one has succeeded on a grand scale: Throughout the twentieth century, and continuing today, a long-term plan to replace our Capitalist society has been in place and is incrementally growing stronger. By infiltrating every aspect of American interaction, as documented in the book, our enemy continues to garner more and more support of the people. You won't want to believe what you read. Many in Washington are happy about that, and most, not all public figures are reluctant to call it what it is. You need this info to decide for yourself.By promoting discontent where there was none, they have divided our nation by socioeconomics, race, ethnicity, religion, and politics. There are exaggerated issues of racism, the rich and the poor, business vs. the working class, climate change, entitlements vs. hard work, Socialism vs. Capitalism, and Conservatism vs. Liberalism. All these deceitful distractions are productive tools of our enemy that divert our attention from the master plan to fully install a new form of government that gives full control of our lives to the government. Most Americans, as well as most politicians, are too distracted by the minutiae mentioned above to see the big picture that this book details. There are no longer enough people who understand or are willing to defend the Constitution that enabled US to become the greatest nation in history while it was strictly interpreted. I fear it is too late to reverse the process now.URGENT UPDATE- email christiansoldiersofamerica@gmail.com for a free Bonus Chapter.

  • - Jews Guarding Nazi POWS Held in the United States
    av Dr Michael Greenberg
    359,-

As the systematic murder of six million Jews by Nazi Germany and its collaborators was taking place, Jewish soldiers in the United States Army participated in guarding, healing, and reeducating of some of the four hundred thousand German prisoners of war (PW) held in camps scattered across the United States. History has paid little attention to the participation of Jewish GIs at these camps and the role they played in preparing PWs to return and participate in a postwar democratic Germany. Very little is known about the experiences of these Jewish soldiers that prepared them to go face-to-face with German PWs, some of which were hardened Nazi party members. In addition, little is known about how the tour of duty in these camps affected the GIs' postwar lives. It was fifty years after the German PWs returned home that I found an unexpected gift my late parents left me that became a portal to discover stories of individual Jewish men whose deeds should inspire future generations on confronting anti-Semitism and racism. These men did not feel sorry for themselves being assigned to PW camps, did not request transfers, and embraced the change and focused on the things they could control. They viewed their roles not as custodians or babysitters of prisoners but as role models of Jewish men who were fit, trim, educated, held rank, and wanted to do more than just "ride out the war" in the zone of the interior. Their stories are about affecting positive change in the PWs' thinking and behaviors. Their mission of tikkun olam-"repair of the world¬"-is the subject of this book. How, where, and when they started and completed this mission is unique to each Jewish GI despite them having common basic training in Jewish upbringing and values. It is hoped that this book will inspire other Jewish soldiers who served at PW camps or their family members knowledgeable about their service to step forward and share their experiences. This could lead to a future updated edition of this book.

He played imaginary name games while on the road and sometimes with other people if their name fit the schtick. Peculiar in other ways (never used ice, only drank Dr. Pepper), he was as quiet and ordinary as the neighbor next door. Yet he was a serial killer. Father, Forgive Me, for I Have Sinned has a few subthemes: addiction, confession and absolution, and sexual abuse in the church. Any of the five main male characters could be the killer, one who strangles young ladies, mostly in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Bible verses from the Psalms left at or near the scene of each murder offered few leads as to the perp or his motive. Theologians in New Orleans gave their opinions but were as stumped as law enforcement, unable to clearly profile the man. When local and regional police got close to identifying and apprehending him, the Gulf South Strangler moved to Carolina and Tennessee with the string of deaths following. Some serial killers are never found. Unlike the infamous serial killers of history, these deaths included no sexual or other physical abuse of the body. Funny how the simplest of rude childhood behaviors could change a man into a monster.

    av J L Verita
    235,-

Worn Like a Badge is the best way to describe my ownership of my daughters'' diagnosis with autism. It illustrates my desperate need to embrace and accept this truth, which hopefully would prepare me for the battle ahead. Keeping this a secret, pretending this was not as bad as it was, was not an option for the girls or for me. There was no time for fear or shame. I needed to be free from the weight of this disease in order to attack it with all my will.I wish I had this book when the girls were diagnosed. It may have hastened my transformation from victim to victor. It is a must read for anyone who has or is caring for a child with a disability. I hope that it proves as helpful to the reader as it has been to the writer.

  • - Science Finds Jesus

When science set forth to explain the historical evidence and miraculous events attributed to the existence of Jesus, it expected to find hoaxes, a lack of evidence, and nothing substantial to support a supernatural belief in God. What skeptical scientists did discover actually validates the beliefs of Christians. And what they could not explain also added even more support for Christian faith. The historical accounts, eyewitness testimonies, and miraculous artifacts provide overwhelming proof that something supernatural and heavenly is in contact with mankind.Join John Carpenter, a psychiatric therapist, on his logical investigation into the divine realm of miraculous evidence through the startled eyes of disbelieving medical and scientific researchers. The amazing conclusions from their professional examinations suggest that Jesus Christ must truly be alive and impacting our lives today. As with Carpenter's first book, Be Not Afraid to Follow the Footprints from Heaven, be not afraid of having your current assumptions about God challenged by this historical evidence, now under the scrutiny of today's science. Open your mind for this fascinating and inspirational journey.

This is a story about trust. The importance of it, how quickly it can be destroyed, and how difficult it can sometimes be to rebuild. Edward thought his twenty-five-year marriage to Carolyn was solid, as did Helen after her thirty years with George. It took but an instant for each to discover just how mistaken they were. Edward met Helen when she asked for his help to stop George's attempt to force his way back into her house and her life. Although neither of them was looking for romance, they developed a strong friendship and slowly regained the ability to trust again. As close as they were, each was afraid to admit to their innermost dreams of love, lest the other didn't share their feelings. Were it not for a couple of very determined friends, they could very well have spent the remainder of their lives as the friends they professed to be, each living out their life in fear of saying the wrong thing and possibly ruining the relationship they had.

  • - Why We're Protestant
    av Tom Ogren
    249

In John 15:9, 10, Jesus is laying the foundation for His followers to bring into their experience. Jesus is making it easy for us to know how this relationship is to be maintained. These verses read, "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father''s commandments, and abide in His love." His commandments to us is the law or character that makes up His kingdom that Jesus was making available to us, as He paid the ultimate price for our redemption. Jesus is making the statement, "Continue in my love," and He is showing us how this will be accomplished. "If ye keep my commandment, ye shall abide in my love." These verses are telling us that Jesus did not have any intentions of setting aside the Ten Commandments that''s been so readily done away with in the churches of our upbringing. Because we have experienced so many years in this nation separated from His law of love, we are living in a nation having the government promoting moral law. This all seems harmless until government law goes contrary to God''s law, as this nation becomes more spiritual but not religious. For a better understanding in all this, continue reading Spiritualism . . . God''s Great Controversy.

Fighting the demons inside, wearing many faces, hiding true self, afraid of what you may find. Writing poems in a blackout, which personality wrote the poem? What did that personality want to communicate? The author shows how to entertain yourself with the poetry that you do not remember writing, becoming a detective seeking clues of what you did in a blackout the night before, and being amazed with yourself that you survived a night of drunkenness-trying over and over to stay sober, wanting so much to become a whole person without experiencing the ups and downs, struggling with an addiction, hurting friends and family, burning bridges. In the end, the victor is you, not the demons that fought so hard to keep you their prisoner. Recovery is possible.

If you are reading this book without first reading The Medicine Wheel Trilogy: A Beginner's Guide or Intermediate guide, then the Advance Guide will not make much sense to you. The third book in the trilogy gives you ceremonies to work with to aid in your knowledge of the wheel. There are no shortcuts in learning the medicine wheel. You must learn the medicine wheel one step at a time as in life. First you crawl, then walk, and finally run. In writing the Advance Guide, I encourage you to explore your mind, body, and spirit and appreciate how the Medicine wheel can work for you. Mister Sir Anthony "Broken Eagle Claw" said it best, and I quote: "When you get a new tire for your vehicle, they balance and align it. You have a tire by itself, it's perfect, but when you put it on a rim, it becomes part of an assembly, and now the parts must be balanced together." Same can be said for the medicine wheel. Now let's begin. Aquene peace.

They are the Forgotten Figures! They came from Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas, and the United Kingdom and showed America how to play soccer. They exhibited highly technical skills of the game, taught the youths in communities across the USA and Canada, and were their role models. They crusaded the game''s uniqueness and its beauty. They were the black pioneers of the (original) North American Soccer League (1968-''84). Among them were the first MVPs of the league and the very first NASL Rookie of the Year; they were among the leading scorers and led their teams to NASL titles. In the process, they played a significant role in making the NASL a world-respected league, which led to the 1994 World Cup in the USA and now the successful MLS. Their efforts made soccer an American sport, and among them were Alberto, Archibald, Auguste, Best, Cannon, Charles, Coker, Cole, Cubillas, Cummings, David, De Leon, Eusebio, Evans, Fowles, Gamaldo, Grell, Horne, Horton, Ingram, Kapengwe, Knight, Lamptey, Largie, Lewis, Lichaba, Lindsay, Mathieu, Mfum, Mokgojoa, Motaung, Mwila, Ntsoelengoe, Odoi, Pearce, Phillips, Sanon, Scott, Sono, St. Lot, St. Vil, St. Vil, Steadman, Valentine, Welch, Welch, Whalen, and Pele. The story of Benjamin Bird is set in Western Oklahoma in the Dust Bowl years of the Great Depression. Benjamin was born in 1934, the third child of a sharecropper. Ben''s heritage encompasses the history of late nineteenth-century frontier America, for his grandfathers were born in the aftermath of the Civil War. His paternal grandfather was the son of a former slave owner, and his maternal grandfather, the youngest son of a Confederate veteran, was from an extended family who, for generations, had subsisted squatting on public land beyond the edge of the farming frontier. Like nomads, when the frontier was closed, they owned no land.Benjamin''s first memory was when, in late 1935, his farm family moved into a two-room frame shack whose plastered walls were pasted over with 1932 newspaper front pages, to seal the cracks. Benjamin was a happy boy who found joyous harmony in the natural world on the hardscrabble farm on which they subsisted, while the 1932 newspaper headlines kept him inquisitive about the world beyond his boundaries. He was secure in the love and support of his parents, his brother, and his sister.Nearby, Ben''s grandparents, uncles and aunts, and sturdy, competitive cousins provided a support system, sharing what they had, a blood-related social security system, a workforce during harvest, a force to turn to for help in crisis. He loved them all and remained loyal to them throughout his formative years, even after he detected among them certain blemishes of character, even after their occasional hurtful words made him seem inferior, even after he began to doubt the infallibility of their fundamentalist religious convictions, even after he developed a secret, forbidden, gripping crush on a handsome, roguish older neighbor boy.In conflict of conscience, will Ben defy his heritage and lose his beloved family''s love and support by rejecting their religious fundamentalism? Will they condemn him and shun him as a heretic? How will Ben cope with confusion about his sexuality without being guilt-ridden, inhibited, closeted, or shunned, filled with self-loathing?* * * * *Watch for the forthcoming sequel, The Adolescent Years of Benjamin Bird.

What drew men to the West? Redemption for past lives and hope to find self-satisfaction in a new land with a new beginning. Men drifted West after being mustered out of the service after the Civil War. Some were from a winning Army. Others were dressed in gray, also looking for a new way of life. Miners seeking fortune extracted from the Western earth. Homesteaders putting their hopes and dreams into the cultivation of a new land, one they could call their own. Men descending from the mountains when the time of the mountain man was over. Mere kids from the East believing the West was a land of adventure. Large sections of lands were staked out by ranchers willing to hold onto each blade of grass with every fiber of their being. The West was conquered by those with vision, sweat, and tenacity, those courageous enough to dare to dream. This is the story of such men. How they came to the rocking star ranch and why they stayed. Men with sand, man with honor, men to ride the high range with. This is their story.
