  • - A Jon Levine Novel
    av Thomas Austin Brill
    285,-

Organ procurement is a world-wide concern. There exist insufficient donors, and thousands who could be saved are dying daily. One potential solution is "presumed consent," which stipulates that upon death, the deceased is presumed to have given consent to have his viable organs donated to a person in need. A provocative and relevant topic cloaked within an adventure, Presumed Consent leads investment advisor Jon Levine, physician Alyssa Martin, and FBI agent Matthew Johnson to become ensnared in a series of adventures which embroil them in the issue. The three travel first to a Chilean offshore island where a reclusive American-trained transplantologist operates, then to several dialysis centers in Florida, and finally to an obscure transplant hospital in Bolivia. Unexpectedly, Levine and Johnson are offered the opportunity to play golf with the President, as a result of which both are appointed Presidential Advisors. Ultimately, this allows Alyssa the opportunity to make a presentation directly to the President himself, espousing the concept of presumed consent. • - The Purpose of Christian Theology
    av Henry F Lazenby
    309,-

Did God have a beard when He appeared to Abraham (Gen.18:2)? Was God dressed in a satin robe when he confronted Moses and the elders of Israel (Ex. 24:9-11)? Did Isaiah see a crown on top of the head of God when he saw "the Lord, high and lifted up" (Isaiah 6:1)? Why did God not appear as a woman to these men, or as a little child? Why did Paul or Peter not experience God in the same way as Moses?Finding the answers to these questions is part of the complex problem associated with explaining an experience of God. Whether God is experienced as a man with a beard, dressed in a robe and crown, and not as a little child or a woman is governed by the rationality within which this experience occurs. This explains why God is not presented in the New Testament as appearing to Paul or Peter like he appeared to Abraham, Moses, or Isaiah. Different rationalities are at work which represent different ways of thinking about God. This rationality also determines whether a specific experience is considered a genuine experience of God, an illusion about God, or a delusion. How to discern one from another embodies the essential character of theological activity. This book provides a way to discern this distinction in explaining the experience of God.

We are living in a day where people are faced with formidable challenges, with many not knowing where to turn, or who to turn to. It is the intent that this book will help you to see the power in the precious blood of Jesus Christ for salvation, can also be applied to our daily walk to live a victorious life for his glory! A DIFFERENT KIND OF DAY; POETRY AND ILLUSTRATIONS OF Jack RICKARDTravel with Jack to a magical world where you meet a boy who flies in a spoon over the moon, a cat and mouse baseball team, kids who live in a shoe, a kangaroo with his face painted blue, a boy who rides a spotted cow to school, an alligator that plays saxophone, a bear that rides around on a ball, spooks and goblins in a witches brew with illustrations that are powerful, poignant, sensual and brooding.Laying down sentences like a trail of cookie crumbs, Rickard writes with the insight and compassion of a teacher who spent most of his life in classrooms full of inquisitive youth. The poems express an awareness of young people''s lives, feelings, and problems. On the surface they are simple poems about love, friendship, being afraid of the dark, having to make choices, being a cat, the world of a fish, and making yourself well. The poems present everyday life made comical for readers of all ages: traffic jams, being a new kid on the block, standing in line, being a wallflower, having an invisible friend, struggling with the wind, and preserving the earth. Each has a deeper meaning that masks a morality play of many levels and brings the reader back again and again.Jack Rickard is a singer, a philosopher, a master of make believe, a guide to a spiritual connection that reveals a humorous world beyond the rabbit hole. It is a place where readers encounter joy and happiness that threatens to be lost among the sordid events of our time.A DIFFERENT KIND OF DAY is a eulogy to laughter, an acclamation of joy, a celebration of the sublime, a profound ode to the earth and those things that make a difference in life.

    av James H Grubbs
    285,-

In Emotions, Luck, and the Myth of Momentum, the second volume in his The Golfing Brain series, psychiatrist and golfer James H. Grubbs once again draws from the latest brain science to offer new insights on what works (and what doesn''t work) in the quest for successful golf. If it''s common knowledge that our unconscious mind "runs the show," asks the author, why would a golfer use conscious techniques to overcome unconscious obstacles to good golf? He explains why techniques such as previsualizing good shots, "faking it till you make it," or trying to suppress fear and anxiety can undermine performance in golf rather than promote it. This book also explores: ΓÇó confidence versus certainty ΓÇó the influence of luck ΓÇó the interplay of emotions during competition ΓÇó the myth of momentum in golf
