Distinguished Nigerian businessman Kö¿le¿ has a past full of mysterious heartache and betrayal. Born out of wedlock, young Comfort is a child of low circumstance and few prospects. But their love story is one that hearkens to a more innocent age. Kö¿le¿ at first resists the much younger Comfort's charms, but when it soon becomes clear they are soulmates, he sets out to mould her into his own made-to-measure bride and the most accomplished of young women.Steeped deeply in the Yoru¿bä storytelling tradition, the main narrative, told by Kö¿le¿ himself, is interwoven with the stories of others and African parables to create parallel themes and lessons as the characters move through their own lives and challenges.Kö¿le¿ lifts Comfort from her own circumstances by providing her with an education otherwise unavailable to her. Her own mother, Ale¿rö, whose youthful indiscretion led to Comfort's conception and being forced into a polygamist marriage, is aided by Kö¿le¿ when her husband dies. Upon Comfort's graduation from A Levels, Kö¿le¿ unites Comfort with the father she has never met, and Ale¿rö is able to finally forgive herself and Aki¿n, the man who stole her innocence so many years ago. Ale¿rö and Aki¿n marry, and Ale¿rö is able to cast aside the slavery chains of the title paramour.Kö¿le¿ finally reveals his past to Comfort. When younger, he was engaged to a girl named Tö¿läni¿. The night before their wedding, he discovered she had been having an affair with another man, Bashy. Distraught, he retreated into the woods to stay with the Sage, a wise old mystic. Comfort earns her degrees in Bristol, England, and Kö¿le¿ and Comfort marry, but during her studies, Comfort becomes passionate about the history of the slave trade. One day, she learns the story of a wealthy Bristolian white woman, Dolores, who was the daughter of a slave trader. A devout and religious woman, she was disgusted by the family trade and begged her father to stop. She finally convinced him - only after one more sale. He and her brother met a storm on their return from the Caribbean. The twelve slaves survived; her father and brother did not. Dolores liberated the slaves and found a young black tutor, Boripe¿¿, originally from Nigeria, to teach them English. The former slaves learned trades and gained employment, and Dolores and Boripe¿¿ fell in love. As no church in Bristol would marry them, they travelled to the Caribbean, where the eventually wed in a church in Antigua.Throughout her years teaching high school, Comfort is haunted by Dolores's story and the horrors of slavery. She sees parallels between the slave trade of old and the political and economic slavery of today. She realises that the only way for the people to take back their lives and the economy is to turn their focus from the white-collar sector that has seduced them with empty promises of prosperity to learning trades that can provide them with self-sufficiency and self-employment. She decides she must finally act, and she and Kö¿le¿, with the help of the Sage, set up a trade school. At the trade school, Tö¿läni¿ and Bashy both make an appearance, as they are unknowingly employed there. Comfort and Kö¿le¿, with the Sage's help, work to heal the wounds of the past, and eventually all is forgiven. Bashy realises that Tö¿läni¿ was his soulmate and not a mere conquest, and the two marry.Distinguished Nigerian businessman

Target Earth is the third book in the Emily Smith Trilogy. Seed of Hope and Assimilation sets the stage for the final encounter with an enemy which is not stronger or professional in combat but who's tactic is to overwhelm their enemy, carbon base life forms, thru sheer numbers. Emily, Sasha and Blain have sent an innumerable host into black holes but to no avail. They soon learn their primary task is to keep the enemy away from the Earth as long as possible. The delaying tactics included Sasha leading Space Commandoes to board the alien warships and destroy the command structures and the hibernating enemy within. Emily became one with the AI construction within the Intergalactic Carrier. Blain assumed command of the fleet. These tactics were designed to give Sara, on the Earth, time to launch as many Intergalactic Seed Carriers as possible. Sara used her childhood friend Kyla to organized anti-government forces to join with the military in defending the earth. It was not long after Sasha's attacks on the alien carriers they realized that the aliens were the masters at delaying tactics and their objective was to keep the Human and the Andrian military fleet away from the earth while another fleet of enemy carriers attacked Earth from a different quadrant. Sara, her family and military contingent barely managed to evacuate the earth before numerous enemy warships exited wormholes opened in the space time fabric. They offloaded their enemy soldiers by the millions and quickly overwhelmed Earth's defenders. Sara and family were witnesses to the destruction but it was not the end. A corrugated sheet of white light collected the souls of mankind and Andrians and all other intelligences from the earth. As for the alien invaders, they received the judgement that was foretold.

We are the handiwork of God, and He has invested a great deal into everyone, of us. We owe it to God and to ourselves to become the best that we possibly can become. However, this is more easily said than done. There is a plethora of challenges that daily flood our lives, pulling us into several directions, all at the same time. Often, the voice of God is crowded out, and as such, we do not hear or adhere to his directives for our lives. It is easy to become side-tracked in such a rapidly paced society. Having the proper balance within our lives is important to our overall success, and in accomplishing those things which have been assigned to our, hands. It is through our relationship with God, the reading of Holy Scriptures, and his wonderful guidance that we are able to experience his grace upon our lives. This is essentially important, because many may have had experiences within their lives, thus, initiating intrusive and enduring consequences. Unfortunately, the self-centeredness and ineptness of others could potentially leave people, metaphorically speaking, crippled in spirit, mind, and body. It is the purpose of this book through inspirational quotes and messages to encourage those who read it to perhaps: recalibrate, discover, and or re-discover themselves for who they are and whom God has called them to be. This book of inspirational quotes is a call to alertness, to be careful, not falling prey to those who seek to restrict your ability to rise above their self- prescribed perceptions of who you are. God did not call us into competition with each other but into relationship with Him. You are not any less than anyone else. You may not have the same gifts, and skill set, but this is okay. Seek to discover your gifts. Then, with purpose in each step: develop, and nurture them. Thus, walking in your purpose!

Fate Revised is a fourth book of poems by Helen Kanevsky. The book contains 67 poems written in 2019-2020. It is a fast-paced collection from a restless and probing mind. Her style builds on short lines, observations that are by turns comic, rueful, and acerbic; and distinctive images from both the natural and the social world. Fate, the inevitable, is being revised and not just in the telling. There is real drama in these poems. In Helen''s poetry one gets caught up in a kaleidoscope of words, jostled by the metaphors tumbling into each other, colliding and sending sparks, which ignite a brush fire of dispassionate or sarcastic or fatalistic or hedonistic or self-deprecating, or slyly playful imagery - the poetic equivalent of riding a roller coaster. One can get giddy from the fast-moving views to get off satisfied that the ride has given their neurons a good run. You can always rest afterward, if you get too dizzy.

This groundbreaking new guide was written specifically for therapists, psychologists, and clinicians to assist clients suffering from chronic stress/PTSD by implementing an innovative, salutogenic (strengths - and resource-based) philosophy into their daily therapy work. First, the book identifies four active ingredients that should be present in all trauma treatment-followed by the Empowerment and Resilience Structure treatment manual, which pinpoints the critical components and baseline standards for the field of trauma counseling that are not model dependent, and are designed for immediate application. Trauma Competency for the 21st Century is inspired by the salutogenic approach to treatment: working with wellness factors (those that support health and well-being) rather than those that cause disease. The goal is to empower the client through a renewed belief in their own abilities, capacities, and resiliencies, and to instill a genuine hope for a future marked by healing and fulfillment.

  • - How to immerse yourself in, be curious about, and celebrate life's most important stage.
    av Kathleen O'Brien
    285,-

Shortly before author Kathleen O''Brien turned sixty, the former copywriter, TV broadcaster and university lecturer became intrigued by the aging process. She wondered why Western societies encouraged older people to fight old age, while indigenous and Eastern cultures accepted and celebrated their later years. With the enthusiasm of an investigative journalist, O''Brien delved into ancient philosophy and modern gerontologic science, interviewed countless experts, and after a decade of research, developed a blueprint for successful aging. In Reclaim Your Right to Grow Old How to immerse yourself in, be curious about, and celebrate life''s most important stage, O''Brien shares the startling similarities between the findings of cutting-edge gerontologists and the advice of ancient philosophers: growing old has a purpose. Reclaim Your Right to Grow Old is filled with references and data but crafted in light, often humorous, clear and direct writing. It''s loaded with anecdotes, quotes from interview subjects, illustrations, gerontologic research, and O''Brien''s memories. The book invites readers to take an eye-opening journey into the meaning of aging-and to discover for themselves why growing old could be the most important thing they ever do.

Are plushies magical? Are they capable of solving children''s social issues, medical problems, homelessness, poverty, and other concerns? If you were to ask seven-year-old Christian Timber, the response to these questions would be yes. Christian believed that when he carried his Doc plush with him to see his cardiologist to get the final diagnoses relating to his heart condition, the outcome was going to be good. Christian was correct. Doctor Rodriquez gave Christian a clean bill of health. Of course, Christian credited his good report to Doc, the plush his grandma had sewn for him. It was at the doctor''s office that Christian met seven-year-old Alayah. Christian noticed the way that Alayah was staring at Doc as if to say, "I wish I had my own plush." This observation prompted Christian to start his own "Plush Mission." Are plush toys magical? Are they able to do the impossible? What was the Plush Mission? • - The Life and Teaching of Jesus of Nazareth
    av Robert Primrose
    419

How does one make sense of the life and teaching of Jesus? He describes a kingdom that is perfect and which he rules as king. His kingdom is still coming, yet we begin to live as its citizens now. He asks us to live like him. But how is that possible? Jesus did miracles routinely. He said he actually was God. He often faced deadly peril with perfect calmness, and at times he was fully aware of what was in other people''s minds. How can I live like that? It is this challenging, frustrating, marvelous, troubling, mind-blowing life and teaching of Jesus that we find in the gospel record, and that I have tried to make clear in these pages.

19 Short Stories Designed to Stimulate Your ImaginationSmall enough to read before you fall asleep and big enough to be captivating and exciting. This book is number 10 in the very successful Little Big Book series. We are proud to say that these stories live up to their promise to be little in size and big in content. Stories in this book are little in the sense that like one-dip ice cream cones on a hot day, they motivate you to consume them fast, yet big and thought provoking enough that they are like all-day lollipops you can come back to time and time again. The stories reflect the authors'' combined 180+ years of experience and knowledge gleaned while fighting their way from poverty to riches. In writing this book they tried to turn the pages back to a much more peaceful and thoughtful time in America''s history. A time when a mother and father were the heads of the family, not managers of motel. A time when the only things that got blown up were birthday balloons and Grandpa''s ego. This book will serve two masters: the lovers of quintessentially dramatic short stories and the lovers of a Novelette - not so long that it requires concentrated dedication through the analysis of the primary characters - and yet variegated enough so that it is not simplistic. The stories, themselves, involve many different subjects including one author''s visit to Germany for his father''s birthday where they were forced to remain unexpectedly for over a year and a half after World War II broke out because they were unable to obtain steamship transportation back to the United States.Other stories are composed of pure fiction wherein the authors'' imagination and innovation capture readers and lure them into a world of possibilities that stretch the mind to ask, why not?The Novelette takes the reader on a journey through life starting with how it is created, developed, expanded, is imprisoned, and breaks out of confinement when the guardian angel touches the h
