Drainage Characteristics and Flooding Problems in the Ahoada East/west and Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Areas, Rivers State, Nigeria is an objective analysis of the drainage character and the interaction of the hydraulic characteristics and processes of the major drainage channels in the region and impacts on the communities within the central Orashi - Sombreiro plains region. The book presents the environmental background including some aspect of hydraulic geometry of the main drainage systems of the study region- the Ahoada area of the central Orashi-Sombreiro plains. It analyzes areal aspects of the integrated drainage character of the area as well as climate change and human factors in the drainage characteristics prevalent in the Ahoada east and west and Ogba Ndoni Egbema areas of the region. It provides an in-depth description of the drainage pattern resulting from influenced by a complexity of interrelated climatic, geomorphic and human factors. This is followed by a descriptive analysis of the impacts of flooding in the communities as well as flood risks management and mitigation measures with emphasis on the need to consider the central Orashi and Sombreiro plains should be considered a single flood area. This will require collaboration between various organizations, agencies, and communities and a focus on efforts to address flooding within the natural boundaries of the Orashi-Sombreio river systems rather than the political/administrative boundaries in the area. Also, structural and non-structural actions should be taken together to manage flood risks effectively aimed at achieving positive outcomes: Because the swamps and the annually flooded lowlands constitute problems as well as pose a challenge to man's ingenuity in re-fashioning his landscape, efforts should be made to reclaim more of these for crop cultivation and settlement purposes Indeed, it is by improved drainage and mitigating flooding impacts that the Ahoada and Ogba-Egbema and Ndoni areas will move towards socio-economic transformation of their landscape which the present century can offer to all who believe in the modern geographic concept that man can cooperate with nature to improve his environment. The book concludes with a call for action to be taken to improve on the drainage and check flooding in the communities / region by at least controlling the effects of its occurrence in the area.

  • - Unmasking The Orphan Spirit
    av Jeanna M Orman
    189,-

We are living in a time where it seems the world has never been in a darker place. The prison systems are overloaded, addiction is at its highest and families are at their most broken. Everywhere we turn, hopelessness is the blanket that covers society. How did we get here and is there anything worth salvaging? As our love for God has grown colder from each generation to the next, it has allowed the true enemy of our souls to get a foothold into our lives and that death grip has become tighter and tighter, attempting to render us completely powerless. Powerless to fight, powerless to love and powerless to live healed, whole and delivered. There is One who can restore everything that has been stolen and He gives us the master plan in His Word. We are created in His image, and we have been designed to be victorious, not victims. I see a new generation on the horizon and all of heaven is surrounding them as they walk out their destinies. One of which the likes of hell will never be able to stand against. Are you ready?

  • - For God, Country, and Something to Eat
av Stephen Leal Jackson & George Oliver Jones
    285,-

How did a sixteen year old Arkansas plowboy with an eighth-grade education find his way into the United States submarine service and onto the frontline of America's naval war against Imperial Japan? For George Jones that path lay through the hardships of the Great Depression, around some of the rules and restrictions of enlistment, and into a Navy unprepared for the battles that lay ahead. During his service on a supply ship in the Asiatic Fleet, he watched the Japanese war machine grind across the Chinese mainland. Hard work, brains, and savvy helped George transfer to the submarine service where he made three war patrols on antique "S" boats and four more on the USS Pogy, a modern fleet-type sub. Firsthand accounts of the seldom told pre-war Navy, of life on a World War I era submarine, and of the terror and triumph of undersea battle are detailed in this autobiographic tale.

  • - How Good Free Men Built Good Free America
    av Christopher Vasillopulos

Aristotle's Ghost does not fit a traditional genre. It is a multiple hybrid: history, comparative government, political theory, developmental economics, conceptual analysis, history of ideas, and memoir. It also has an element of dialogue, as the author discusses his work with his alter ego, Aristotle, often by comparing Ancient Greece with America. This procedure allows for a recapitulation of the chapter's major themes, while deepening the analysis and clarifying concepts. The reader, therefore, can more easily digest the analysis. Written for a generally educated audience, the text trusts the reader to be a partner in the enterprise of understanding the currents and crosscurrents of the American experience.

The bridging together of different backgrounds threw this family into a step-family spin. Was it because people thought Ms. Ery came from the other side of the tracks? Normalizing relationships-How many times have I heard this phrase? What good does it do to talk about it? Well, in the case of blended families, it would depend on genuine intentions and who is attempting to go through those road blocks, unscathed. With respect to Ms. Ery, I would venture to say that although her previous experience would drive anyone nuts, she has prevailed, and her attitude can be used as a living testimony, that perseverance, if used wisely, can be a determining tool in a person's constant search for a normal relationship. I pray that those who read this book, will walk away with a different perspective on life, especially ones who are currently involved in a similar dilemma.

The colossal Sistine Chapel features Michelangelo's stunning masterpieces. His fresco of The Last Judgment serves as a reminder that mankind's obligation to life is not for personal advantage. No man should ever be used as a means to an end. It is no secret that every living being has a dark secret in the closet-be it living a lie, addiction, betrayal, commission of an undetected crime, uncontrolled anger, fear, hate, regret, abuse...and the list continues in perpetuity. The dilemma we confront is how we process our secret in relation to pulling back the mantilla of life to jibe with our agenda at hand-and the eternal agenda of our soul. Elf Dust to Excellence takes you through a 40-day journey of your life-from the perspective of how to assess, attain, and maintain the richness of living in simple abundance. It dissects the inner self from the outside-in. But this isn't just any ordinary trek. The book doesn't have you as the reader sitting on the sidelines watching through rose-colored glasses for the ship to come in. It works as a shared effort. The captivating daily entries provide an interactive approach to greatness via God's grace. Practical hard-hitting modules accompany the passages, weaving in a slice of humor. E. E. Cummings once said, "The most wasted of all days is one without laughter." Are you ready? Grab your lapel and let's go!

    av Marc Daniels
    309,-

A Jewish Spiritual Political Playbook for the 2024 Presidential Campaign CycleBefore restoring the American soul, you must get to the deepest roots of systemic racism, the origins that unscrupulous politicians try to obscure to convince their base. One must explore the deepest roots of the human desire to understand how to put ourselves back on track toward the Promised Land. Using the Torah's central Kabbalah wisdom as a guide, Marc Daniels illuminates the Judaic roots of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s rhetoric for a new kind of Jewish spiritual and political playbook to counter the persuasion techniques of the Evangelical political right. Marc Daniels gamed his theories directly with the presidential candidates along the Iowa Caucus Trail. During the 2016 and 2020 campaign cycles, he captured the attention of candidates and the media with his kippah (yarmulke) swag offerings to Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Mike Pence, and Kamala Harris. Embedded within the kippahs lies the wisdom to change the grassroots political base behavior patterns for the better. In the concluding chapters of his playbook, Marc gives strategies for redefining the narrative of women's reproductive rights, environmental awareness, and voting rights for unifying the electorate in a brand-new way.
