Poems in Bringing the Light are full of thoughts and ideas about the world workings as applied to a human soul. This is about how we handle our memories and our past and where is our place in the universe. The author has a surprisingly unexpected worldview, and some poems could even teach us a little. It is the poetry of direct address, with the discourses that are enlivened, more than ever, by unpredictable lines of approach-departure and by an uncanny sense of language's expressive possibilities.

Love in itself is truly a miracle. Those of us who have experienced true love will attest to that. This book is about unconditional love. It is a romantic novel but not without many trials. The intent is to bring to light the struggles some people must face to finally achieve this miracle of love. Sometimes it takes adversity and many days of despair and self doubt. Our main character, Karen, faces a tremendous upheaval in her life as a result of a car accident. Karen had never realized what courage, conviction and faith were needed to face this great adversity but also experiences finding her true love. In these pages you will hopefully experience some of the struggles, disappointments, despair and feeling of unworthiness that encompassed Karen during her time of rehabilitation. You will also experience how her faith and love of her family, as well as finding her soul mate, will bring such gratitude and love to Karen's life. In writing about the myriad of feelings, doubts (some real and some formed by feelings of lack of self esteem and acceptability) that Karen faced, it emphasized everyone's need to be loved and accepted. As a society we need to be aware of how we treat everyone - and especially aware of how difficult life can be for those unfortunate enough to be disabled. I hope you will walk in Karen's footsteps as you read through these pages and, perhaps, stop to consider others in your journey through life.

Lee is the Vice prime Minister and hero trying to hold them together at all cost. Lee is a former Union Colonel and understands the tension better than anyone. He was the one who brokered the peace after ten centuries of hate. While this is going on Lee's brother is suddenly discovered to be alive on The Dragon Islands. With his son Marco they cross an ocean to find him. Along the way a pirate Lee thought dead turns up as an ally with the son of King Eliazar, Elijah. They ally with Atlantis and invade. Lee's brother, Allen, befriends Sir Lancelot and Merlin while being hunted down by the ruler of Dragon Island, King Joe, after he stands up for his friend Daniel. On Allen's tail is Diamond James who has made this hunt personal. With New Allies and enemies Lee races back to The Republic for a fight of survival and democracy. Children love participating in storytelling. While you read the story, the child can hold up each pillow as Pumpy and Poofy interact with each other. Because Pumpy and Poofy are "pillow people," the child can choose a nearby pillow, whether on a couch or bed, to represent Pumpy and another pillow to represent Poofy. In this book, the child learns along with Pumpy and Poofy how to deal with discouragement and difficulties. They learn that they can look up to God for help. Following the advice of their grandmother, they learn to "live it up the Lord's way"-to have fun even in the face of a challenge. During their visit to Paris, they not only help themselves by looking to God, but they help everyone find a little more happiness.

Love is in our everyday processing. In this book of poetry, both past and present you will flow with the mind of a young person's growth and thoughts, and a one's life experiences usually unspoken. Through his writings his unspoken words promote thought. Just think about it: where would you be if you've never experienced adversity, conflict, heartbreak, etc.? So many thoughts yet never the perfect answers, are perfection even real? That's for you to decide. Poetry is a beautiful way of expression and one of many art forms to describe one's feelings. You are about to experience my most intimate thoughts, in their original format, from a child to adult.

The following is an unsolicited review of the completed, unpublished manuscript of "Lots of Flowers" "'Lots of Flowers' is a story that is an inspiration to the reader and leaves us with a feeling of renewed hope and faith. It challenges the very worst and best in human nature - turning negative into a positive force. A remarkable story of courage and compassion of one young man's self-discovery, as well as insight into the delicate web and balance of nature. We marvel in the daily reminder that we are but humble caretakers put upon this earth to preserve and protect its beauty and wonder. This story takes all five senses and pulls us into experiencing each one - taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell. A delight for readers of all ages who share a common bond - the universal language of Love and love for LIFE!" - K. Stovin, 1990 "Think of "Lots of Flowers" as being in the tradition of "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" and "The Knight in Rusty Armor"...two of my favorite reads." - JRM The tale of how George Washington Carver and Luther Burbank aided in the rejuvenation and beautification of a vacant, litter-strewn lot which revived a sense of pride and worth in an urban community

How you feel about yourself privately will be your road map through life. For many of us living and learning hurts. Nothing is more painful than to see your child, or yourself for that matter struggle with social, emotional, academic, or vocational frustrations. For those of us identified as being ADD or ADHD we find ourselves operating from a perpetual come-from-behind-position. During the past two years, the pandemic has fertilized anxiety, uncertainty, and doubt. Depression and loneliness have exponentially increased, leaving children and adults, not knowing what to do next. The pandemic aside, these are common experiences of children and adults with ADD and ADHD. The author knows this story all too well. In second grade, Tom's teacher strapped a piece of masking tape across his mouth sitting him in front of the class, because, in her words, "He won't stop talking." During his post high school planning his counselor informed him "You are not college material, and you better learn to run a cash register." Tom knew if he could learn how to learn his way, things would work out. And they have. Unlike other books in this genre, these writings will make you laugh, and resuscitate your spirit. The author's education, training, and clinical experiences, coupled with his candid personal history is a compelling read. We can find parts of ourselves in all of it. Most importantly the book will inspire you to understand yourself, and others from different perspectives. You will learn about the newest discoveries in interpersonal neurobiology, and psychology, combined with ancient wisdom, taking you on a fascinating path of self-discovery. It may surprise you to realize that "getting better," has more to do with letting go, than holding on. This journey will help you learn how to make now better, so later will be easier. In this book you will learn about: *Creating a language of comfort *The importance of learning to pause*Your brain's warring factions-the irascible amygdala and the loving prefrontal cortex *When mad covers sad*When crying is good*The inestimable value of brain sit-ups *Creating stable traits rather than fleeting states *Why patience and compassion are the ultimate motivators *Being reflective rather than reactive *The need to unlearn learned helplessness * When blaming makes you the victim * The friendship mission- a life sustaining need *Learning to become comfortable with discomfort *Why the quadpod concept is basic to wellbeing *Understanding liminal time and space; when something is no longer, but not yet.... *And so much more

Is love really important? What are love's risks and rewards? Is love about surprise, joy, marriage, living together, 50-year relationships, lustful one-nighters and long weekends, spouses and children, serenity or a warm body to ward off loneliness? This is the second book by WRITINGBOOTCAMP/Charlotte, a 6-month creative writing collaboration founded and led by Glenn Proctor, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, retired editor, executive coach, business consultant and mental health educator. For this project, Proctor included a number of former journalism colleagues from around the country. This book is not a psychological analysis of love and relationships, but a "gut-level" look at love, affection and relationships through the experiences of the individual writers. Readers will, most likely, see a similar experience as they read through the poetry and stories.
