In times of great change and turmoil like these, people often feel helpless, hopeless, and afraid. They don't know what to do to make things better. Too often they fail to trust themselves and their neighbors enough to search for answers collectively. Instead, they cede their power to a strong leader to save them. They want the leader to show his/her power with a war-like stance, where there's no room for compromise, where there's only one correct way, and where everyone blindly agrees with this so-called leader.Cheering for the Good: Leading When It Matters urges all of us to step up and be the change. People are hungering for a different view of leadership, one where they can embrace hope. And that's what we've seen lately. Many leaders have come to the fore during the COVID 19 crisis. They have put the common good ahead of their own comfort and safety. They have spread the message that we are all in this together and that we must look out for everyone. They have used their creativity to serve the needs of the whole. When the COVID 19 pandemic is behind us, we will need to make decisions about who we want to be as a people. Will we go back to who we were before, or will this challenging time have been a point of transformation for all of us?Using the metaphor of cheerleading, the author urges readers to exercise leadership in their own corner of the world, using their unique gifts, collaborating with others, embracing our oneness, and focusing on what's right with the world. Good leaders inspire us to be our better selves. The models of leadership which can do this call for much more collaboration, compassion, inclusion, humility, and integrity. In order to become leaders, people need first to believe in themselves as good, with unique gifts and wisdom. Throughout the book, the author cheers for the readers to claim their power. She gives examples of good leadership in today's world, and provides reflection questions at the end of each chapter to help the readers further delve into their own call. Then the author cheers for them to use their gifts to influence the world for the better, not through solving its perceived problems, but in recognizing and revealing what's already right with the world. This revolutionary stance of goodness will bring about the change we all seek.

It all started with a dream... and as this dream is unfolding, we are far from done. We pick up where we left off; Tink finds herself on a pebbly beach, an island in the middle of nowhere, and Tommy, last we knew, was floating in that bizarre liquid and ended up possibly mummified. Lorenzo fell through the floor of Tommy's cabin into some crazy purgatory, Maddie ended up in the Regeneration Room and found Tink's starburst necklace, and Demonica brought Derek to meet Lexi. Now, we get to know Lexi, who her father is, and where she's been her whole life. Tink befriends the little girl she meets on that pebbly beach and finds out who this girl is related to. Later, Tink discovers something about herself and what she is capable of. Tommy is... different. What will become of him? Lorenzo discovers how powerful magic can be. One more room in the vault is opened; the first reveal is quite a surprise, but the second one is shocking, at best. We digress to Franti¿ka's past, before Demonica existed. We find out how she raised her first-born child, how her relationship with Ludv¿k began, how she and Josef became involved, and why Demonica took over. And then there is Lexi... poor, secluded, isolated Lexi. We certainly get to know her quite a bit; and yet, we've only scratched the surface where she is concerned. Is she sweet and naïve, or is she a chip off the old block...? We'll just have to wait and see. Will we encounter more body swapping? Will anyone die? Will Demonica finally succeed and take over Tink's life? So many unanswered questions... Just as we imagine we know what is about to take place at the end of this book, a new character appears. This one is other-worldly, literally. How does this being fit into this story? You may not figure that out; blink, and you'll miss it...

Think back to when you were younger. What did you want to be when you grew up? Now take a look at where you are today. Are you what you said you would become? If not-why? Is it that your goals changed, or is it because you abandoned your more ambitious dreams in favor of more practical ones? When Bud LeMieux was a boy, he began building boats as a hobby and had constructed six vessels before finishing high school, starting with an eight-foot pram and ending with an eighteen-foot power catamaran. He continued his hobby into adulthood, pursuing it part-time as he sampled college and found employment at a great-paying job. But Bud wasn't happy at his job. His passion remained elsewhere. So, he did what few of us are brave enough to do and left his good paying job with full benefits, determined to build boats not as a hobby, but as a career.

Dr. Plasil's memoir spans a century. It begins with his escape from Czechoslovakia and continues to the present, transporting readers to Europe, points in the U.S., the world of science, and the privacy of his personal life. He writes about his family heritage, offers stories from his childhood, describes his experiences as a refugee, his new roots in the United States, and his achievements in the field of nuclear physics. A travelogue of broad reach underlies Dr. Plasil's memoir. The adventurous spirit that formed during his childhood as a outcome of his escape and subsequent relocations inspired a lifetime of travel. He has traveled the world, literally traveling around the world at one time. Dr. Plasil presents his story chronologically through a series of stirring vignettes, writing in an authentic and passionate voice that does not hold back. Through the course of his narratives, he weaves together multiple themes in unexpected ways: family, identity, migration, assimilation, love, pain and loss, scientific endeavor, independence, and redemption. Through these, readers will witness the peaks and valleys of Dr. Plasil's life story, the kaleidoscope facets of darkness and light. His memoir not only invites adult and young adult readers into his life; it will also stimulate their reflection on how to live.

Butch, as his father began calling him before he was old enough to walk, was just a simple country boy, living a simple country life in western North Carolina during the early 1950's. That is, until he encountered the same assailant that was attacking many other children during this same period...polio. Although only five and a half years-old at the time he was hospitalized by the harmful disease, the memories of the terrible ordeals he faced were indelibly seared into his brain. This occurred during a time when local hospitals were being overrun by children stricken by the epidemic, until the only one that would admit them, in that part of the state, was an old refurbished mansion tucked away in the mountains, just outside of Asheville. The old building was soon filled to capacity with sick children. So much so, that volunteer nurses were sent there by the American Red Cross, and could only be housed in tents supplied by the army. This predicated a very regimented and barracks-style treatment that would be frowned upon in today's more politically correct society. Butch spent six long weeks there without the comfort and security of his parents, and very little empathy from the nurses to make up for it. After finally being released, he was left with a withered upper torso and an emotionally scarred mind. His army-trained, domineering father seemed to think he had a cure for the former, but the latter went untreated, and soon became even worse. Just when it appeared all hope was lost and the boy would never be able to resume a normal childhood, a little puppy mysteriously enters his life and, suddenly, everything is changed. What transpires afterward, is a series of astounding and miraculous events that defy logic and understanding, until the dog, just as mysteriously, departs.
