    335

The saga continues as a future apocalyptic world begins to reveal its secrets . . . Chris, now a Trax, was what the West Sand Command called "a greeny." Her "Before Time," that time before she had been rifted, had been from a distant past, and perhaps even a different timeline. Who could say . . .? But after some three years of training and a return to the very group who had rescued her from the desert, her "Now Time" circle was complete . . . with one adjustment, she was now also "Det Arjü" She carried with her a mysterious pendant that she had been ordered to present to Lon, the Tagos of the Choe, an assignment that, as of yet, no West Sand Commander was aware. Bruce, Chris's friend, and fellow "Before Time" band geek, was rejected by the Trax. While Chris trained, his path hooked him to the side of the Taden's greatest nemesis, the Captain. Now as his lieutenant, he must help the Captain save his command by aiding him in the capture of Ponopin, a genius Tader entrepreneur, and the Brigade's greatest thorn. But as fate would have it, neither mission is as easy as it sounds, the tangle of circumstances sending Chris and Bruce on a collision course with each other. Richly imagined, beautifully characterized, and deeply engaging, Wasp on the Wind will leave you clamoring for the upcoming third book in The Wasp Chronicles series.

  • - My quest for a candid look at the United States' budding population of organic farmers
    av Dan Moberger
    305,-

Inspired by the zany stories of a friend, Dan Moberger set out to chronicle the lives of WWOOFers across the United States. World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) is an organization that puts farm owners and prospective workers in touch via an extensive database. The catch? The workers are afforded a place to stay and food to eat, but no money is exchanged. More than just an excuse to get down in the dirt, WWOOF has become a way to travel affordably, to network, to learn the intricacies of the business that puts food on the table for every American, and, often, to simply survive. The Work for Stay Way offers the farmers' point of view-what drove them to accept strangers into their homes, their wildest stories, where they believe the food industry is headed-as well as their guests'-what got them to their temporary homes and why they choose to undertake such arduous tasks with no promise of monetary payment. The ideals and idioms of this far-reaching and rapidly growing group of agriculturalists are revealed throughout Moberger's journey from the East Coast to the West Coast and back. His trek reveals a welcoming sense of community among this close-knit clan, a quality not always prevalent in today's society-and by the end, readers may just be roused into taking their own adventure into the wacky world of working for stay.

    av Robert P Jones
    189,-

The story of the Minorcans in America is well chronicled. Minorcans (Menorcans) and St. Augustine, Florida are both unique. Spain had the first permanent settlement in America (St. Augustine). By the time Jamestown was founded by the English, St. Augustine was an established town. These short stories reflect a life well-lived because of the unconditional love of a Minorcan: my wife, Malinda Usina Jones. The stories are true and might make you feel almost as good as tasting true Minorcan gumbo with a drop or two of datil pepper sauce in the bowl.

An ancient evil race is coming home. Powerful, cunning, and fierce, to all who encounter them the Emim are a true paradox. They are breathtakingly beautiful, but best described as the embodiment of pure evil. Relentless in their quest to conquer and militarily as powerful as any race in the galaxy, they are masters of subterfuge. Prefect Thuban's insidious plan to infiltrate U.S. Deep Space Strike Force (DSSF) will quickly create mass chaos while neutralizing all planetary defenses. Simultaneously, a massive armada is closing in for the kill. As the Emim make their move, the crew of DSSF Fighter 107 is AWOL and the only person who can stop them is missing. Earth may be taken without firing a shot and Rocket Babe is nowhere to be found.

What's in a name? It is the age old question. Truth be told, we all have names. And for the most part, they are all different, but they are also the same. They are all names. Just as we all have individual thoughts and emotions which are distinctive. The essence of those thoughts and emotions are exclusive but their core is the same. So many similarities but still unique, just like our names. The poems within are culled from my thoughts and emotions then shaped by memories. Once again, like yours. Different but the same. I hope that somewhere within the contrast, you will find the likeness that runs through us all.

  • - The Emily Smith Trilogy, Book 2
    av Tom Young
    309,-

Jawane, Hanlee, and Persha stepped off the saucers lift onto planet Earth. They were terrified! There was no ceramic bubble to protect them from the cosmo here. There was no turning back. They saw Emily waving from a stand of trees. Due to environmental concerns the future of the Earth looked grim. The Andrians calculated that the ability of the Earth to sustain life as we know it to be 500 years. They also believed that the introduction of the Human-Andrian Hybrids and their resultant offspring should help resolve the debilitating issues plaguing the Earth. With the Hybrids in place on the Earth, The Council of Yield, the Andrians governing body, approved the exchange program. Jawane, Hanlee, and Persha were the first of many Andrians to experience life on Earth; thus, the Assimilation began. There were also military and scientific exchanges made, all in secret not to upset the populous. The Andrians were very much aware of their own advanced intellectual abilities over the Humans. However, they were surprised with the Human's cunning and ability to deceive their traitorous military personnel. The Human-Andrian Hybrids only accented this trait; And even more disturbing to the Andrians was the discovery of a chemical molecule in the brains of Humans which the Andrians did not have. It appeared that this chemical matrix of molecules was required for their next level of exponential mental growth. The abundant appearance of this molecular chemical matrix in Human-Andrian Hybrids seems to be an introduction to the new evolution of specie development. It was postulated by some scientist that the ability to access full cerebral capacity would continue until the new specie could use 100% of their mental capacities. However, none of this mattered to 12 year old, Sara, who went aboard an intergalactic carrier to accompany her friend, Muscula, one of the few of her species saved from extinction by Emily. Being in three months of decontamination was required, but she woke up

For many years, as I'd go through the time consuming, joyous things with Athena and Charles, my special needs grandchildren, I'd say to myself, "You should write a book because pregnant or new mom's need to know how to prevent autism. "Finally, after Athena died from a seizure almost 4 years ago, God commanded, "Write the book NOW". In the Christian walk, I've learned to obey because I want to stay in close fellowship with Jesus Christ. 1/1/18

  • - The Path that was Laid
    av Giles D Geneyus
    285,-

From a young age I knew that I had a God-given gift but did not know what it was. It was a dream of mine and a vision of God through Jesus the Christ, that I would do something amazing for his name's sake. I struggled with anger and self-esteem issues for a while, but I discovered writing eased my pain and was a way to express myself in a positive way. As much of our youth today I was raised in a single parent home with my mother working two and sometimes three jobs. Did not have much and was teased a bit for not having. I knew that this was just a season and kept my faith in Jesus. I started listening to musicians such as Ray Charles who had multiple styles and transcended having to do only one genre of music and who overcame some serious odds to become one of the most beloved musicians, even today. I always thought to myself, he had an addiction and a handicap that did not stop him from succeeding, so if he can than I can. I was also captivated by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who's letters I have read, sermons I have listened to time and time again, and speeches have forever changed much of the world. An underrated lyricist that had such an amazing vocabulary, not a rich man but one who had influence and a dream. As an 80's baby I also listened to Tupac (I know much different from the other two) who also had a pretty extensive vocabulary and willingness to discuss the topics that many leaders and public figures tend to shy away from today. Like Mr. King, he did it with passion and it came from the heart, although expressed much different. All these people who have influenced me I owe much gratitude and this is the reason for my book. This book came from my past, present, and my hopes for the future. This book is me, my struggles, my happiness, my love, my hate, my love, and an open door into my life.

  • - A practical book about loving those who mistreat you
    av Jerad P Bisson
    265,-

All of us have people in our lives that we feel are impossible to deal with. They just won't be nice to us or respect us in anyway no matter how kind we are to them. whether it be a family member, a coworker, someone you go to school with or even someone whom you have just met. For some reason they just don't care about you. Jesus calls us all, to love all people, especially our enemies. How then can we love those who are always putting us down? Jesus teaches us that there is no credit in only loving those who love you back (luke 6:32 KJV). The merit is received when we love the ones who don't love us at all. How then can we love someone that wants to hurt us? Christ has given us his teaching that we should all love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those that hate us, and pray for those who despitefully use us, and persecute us. This seems somewhat impossible, but anything is possible with God. When we rely on all that Christ has taught us and fall back on his love for us, we can do anything, we can change the world. This book contains nine practical principles on how to love your enemies. It is by applying these principles in our daily life, that our lives will get better and we will learn how to deal with those people who hate us and those who just down right ruin our day. Each of these principles has been derived from Christs teachings of how we should love our enemies. These nine principles are a fundamental approach to a Christ centered life, that makes you Christs light in the world. By applying these nine principles in your daily life. You will find that most of the people who don't care about you, will start to care about you more and those who continue to treat you badly wont bother you at all. It is through Christ That we are saved and through Christs teachings that we learn how to live a life that is worthy of Heaven. So, let's use a practical approach to this issue and ask Jesus for his grace, to learn these new behaviors. So t

The Underground Railroad that was organized to help runaway slaves seek freedom was nothing new to many residents who lived in Ottawa, Illinois in the1850s. Several residents had established shelters for runaway slaves although they faced possible confrontations with slave catchers, law enforcement officers and trials that could lead to imprisonment and forfeiture of private property. The Northern District of the Illinois State Supreme Court became the scene of a hearing of a runaway slave Jim Gray who had been arrested in Union County in southern Illinois. The state court ruled that Gray was free of any state charges but he would have to be remanded to the U.S. Commissioner in Springfield who would have to hold a trial for Gray because of the federal fugitive slave law and would probably have to return Gray to his master in Missouri. Several citizens in Ottawa orchestrated a daring plan to free Gray while he was in the LaSalle County Court house and connect him with a nearby Underground Railroad network that would get him to Chicago and on north by ship to Canada. Several prominent citizens who participated in the escape plan were arrested and charged with violation of the federal fugitive slave law and were taken to Chicago to stand trial in federal court. The outcome of this trial surprised the defendants and shocked those who opposed the abolitionists and supported states' rights that guaranteed slavery.

This book is an alphabetical collection of thoughts, memories, ideas, opinions and observations from an average small-town guy who survived the cold war, the polio epidemic, chicken pox, measles, mumps, broken bones, drinking water out of a garden hose, nuclear war drills, an older sister, playing in the street, speeding, underage drinking, riding a bike without a helmet, dog bites, cat scratches, skiing in the fog, driving on icy roads in winter blizzards, corporal punishment, harsh winters in Montana, living for two months in a submarine, flying Navy jets from an aircraft carrier, raising two sons and forty-nine years (at the time of this typing) of marriage.........to the same woman! Most of the sections in this book include quotes and excerpts from noted speakers, writers and award-winning authors on the subjects of goals, success and personal development. It is believed that you will find that the genre fits somewhere between autobiography, personal development, and success-building. If you are looking for an alphabetical collection of life experiences, observations, opinions and pointers for success, this may be it. If you are old enough, you will relate to many of the author's experiences and observations. If you were born later than the 1940s or 1950s, you will gain from his insight and from the writings of other recognizable and famous authors. If you are a kid, this book is for you. It was written primarily for the author's four Grandchildren so that they might learn a little more about "Pops" while they learn a lot about life and making choices. It is hoped that this book is "ageless" and will have something to offer every person of every age who will take the time to read it. Perhaps it will serve as a "dictionary of successful ideas". Jim LaRue grew up in a small town in northwest Montana. He attended Oregon State University on a Navy ROTC scholarship and graduated in 1968 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation and

The dedication for the first edition read as follows:For those who bring war without necessityFrom those who forevermoreBear it.A necessary war, what would that be? doubtfully one waged by the most powerful nation on earth against one of the tiniest and poorest; and for some ten years. We Americans are always acutely aware of our own casualty counts. We have not, however, shown the same concern regarding the Vietnamese, both civilian and uniformed, killed or wounded or driven insane, in the conflagration. One million, two, three millions? The opinions and emotions the war triggered divided the American citizenry as few things have. But On The Fault was not written to address any of these matters. It is simply an attempt to afford the willing reader an opportunity to feel what those who fought in that war felt, in the simple hope that America's involvement in Vietnam would be properly remembered, so that a future gang of reckless fools at the top might be deterred from repeating the horror of a war that need not happen.Even wars waged with the noblest of causes breed a kind of free-floating hatred - the trickle-down poison that can pollute and saturate even the most high-minded of nations. What of one fought without even the slightest justification? All that killing and mayhem; where does it go?Whether all-volunteer or conscripted, isn't it always the little people who carry water for the rich and the powerful? Are you of draft age? Are you registered with Selective Service? Do you have a child or a grandchild of draft age? Do you ever think about the worthiness of our recent wars - these undeclared, unconstitutional military actions? Or do you care? Beware, there could very well be another draft should our adventurism slide completely out of control.Ronald J. Wichers was born in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York. He studied History and Literature at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, until drafted into the United States Army in 1970. He was assigned to a rifle company in the 25th Infantry Division serving in Vietnam and, after sustaining several wounds, including the loss of his left arm, was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism and the Bronze Star Medal. He later studied theology, at the Graduate Theological Union, in Berkeley California. Mr. Wichers has published three novels and a collection of short stories about his experiences in the Vietnam War.

  • - Cryptographic Security of the German Enigma, Japanese PURPLE, and US SIGABA/ECM Cipher Machines
    av Stephen J Kelley
    345,-

Why do some cryptographic systems fail and others succeed? Stephen Kelley's new book, Big Machines, explores this fundamental question of cryptology by examining the history of three of the most renowned cipher systems of World War II - the German Enigma, the Japanese PURPLE, and the American SIGABA/ECM ? to understand why the first two were broken by the allies and last remained unbroken. Were the allies' successes against Enigma and PURPLE due to inherent weaknesses in the Axis' machines, to poor communications security procedures, to physical compromise, or to all three? Was their failure to break the SIGABA/ECM due to the strength built into the American cipher or to Axis cryptanalytic incompetence? Big Machines investigates the histories of these three cryptosystems - how they were designed, how they were used, and how they were attacked by hostile cryptanalysts. Mr. Kelley compares the strengths and weaknesses inherent in each machine, and considers external factors influencing their ultimate security. Big Machines helps explain the allies overwhelming victory in the critical information war with Germany and Japan. Aegean Park Press is pleased to offer this unique and valuable addition to the literature of both cryptology and the Second World War.
