    av Shellie Dunlap

22 Miles out to sea, off the coast of Cape Cod Massachusetts, lies a little sliver of paradise called Nantucket Island. The magical experience begins the moment the ferry carrying bright-eyed visitors glides around the Brant Point Lighthouse and into Nantucket Harbor. Church steeples dot the horizon, gray shingled cottages line the wharf and sailboats bob on their moorings. As guests descend the boat ramp and step onto the brick-paved wharf there are so many quaint details it's impossible to take them all in at once. One new island visitor was overheard saying, "It's like Disneyland for grown-ups." Tourists and summer residents get the opportunity to experience the island "in season" when all the shops and restaurants are in full swing and the population can swell to over 50,000. But those who call Nantucket home know the best kept secrets of the island are revealed all year long. Shellie Dunlap and her family had owned a house on Nantucket for over 17 years before deciding to make the island their permanent home. During her first year as a new full time resident of the island (affectionately referred to as a "wash ashore" by long time Nantucketers) Shellie learns there is more to the island than she ever dreamed possible and much she has yet to discover. Come join her as she ushers you through one year of island life and inspires you to create your own Nantucket Experience.

Boy seeks new nose! Animal noses with superpowers preferred. Fed up with a running, sneezing, sniffling, red nose, a little boy flings his nose into outer space. After all, there are so many remarkable noses from which to pick. Especially animal noses with their real life superpowers. Imagine what he could do with noses like that! Facing a dozen animals, from a star-nosed mole to an elephant, the little boy hopefully asks, "Might I borrow your nose?" The animals good-naturedly agree to share their prize-winning noses and twelve fun-filled adventures begin. A trio of rhyming couplets introduces each new animal nose, explores the snout's abilities, and then describes what the little boy could do with that snout. Full color illustrations humor and delight. Yet even for a nose, there's no place like home. Enjoy this first book in an upcoming series of one little boy's search for the perfect fits with the help of his animal friends. Following the story, Create-a-Nose Blueprints offer an easy step-by-step activity to enhance each of the twelve nose adventures. Let's Talk initiates a wide range of nose conversation, both human and animal. Keep a copy of The Running Nose Book close at hand wherever tissue boxes can be found.

Full color 58 honey bee and related pictures. This book is for the beginner through advanced beekeeper. After 50 years of working with bees in mainly the southeastern United States, my aim in writing this book is to provide useful tips and techniques on bee keeping and production with special attention to its financial dimensions. Such information should be helpful to the advanced beginner as well as the experienced professional. However, since all beekeeping is local, some of these tips and techniques may not work in every area. In addition, beekeeping finance should be understood to succeed in building and growing any beekeeping operation. Many bee businesses fail due to poor financial controls and planning.Successful bee keeping first requires a basic knowledge of bee biology and physiology. Once acquired, specific management and financial techniques may be applied. In other words, the beekeeper's management must support the bees' natural biology. If the beekeeper does not do this, he will lose his bees, and everything else will be for naught. Once a bee keeper understands the bees' biology, the current management techniques should be examined for financial efficiency. Optimizing your beekeeping finance is critical for operating a profitable honey bee operation. We are competing not only with domestic United States beekeepers, but also overseas beekeepers. The competition scene is different for honey production than pollination. Honey production has much more overseas competition, whereas pollination is more domestic. There are many small honey producers that compete with local honey that is in demand. Likewise, much pollination is local also, with smaller acreages.

This story is a continuation of the story from Alone in the Gulf of Mexico. It begins in Illinois but rapidly moves to Florida and eventually to the Gulf of Mexico and Cozumel. The story follows the sometimes-hectic legal battle with individuals from Homeland Security including an unplanned long-distance sail. Along the way there is sailing through storms, waves, and wind with an occasional twist. The continuing interaction between Captain Pete and the Federal Government makes this an enjoyable, yet totally believable read.

The Last Emperor of Rome, a tale of love, betrayal, and turmoil, takes place during the final thirty-five years of the Western Roman Empire. It was a time of palace intrigue, assassinations, barbarian invasions, declining institutions, struggling political alliances, and a general breakdown of the imperial system of government which had ruled much of Europe and North Africa for the previous five hundred years. Before his entry onto the national stage, little is known about Emperor Julius Valerius Majorian, the major historical character of this novel. Therefore, the author invented much of the storyline, including the Emperor's early life, his family, and his career in the Imperial Legions. The story begins in 461 AD as Emperor Majorian is confined to a cell in a Roman prison and reflects upon his life. His thoughts take him from his childhood in Gaul to his career in the Roman Legions, his marriages and family, his dealings with men such as Count Flavius Ricimer, Master General Flavius Aëtius and Senator Gaius Gallipolis, and ultimately onto his rise to political prominence in the waning Roman world. As Majorian sinks deeper into despair, he tries to make sense of the consequences of his actions. Come ride along with the Imperial Legions of Aëtius and Ricimer as they battle the armies of the Huns, the Visigoths, and the Vandals. Attend a Roman wedding. Take part in conversations about immigration, slavery, Roman law, and the rise of Christianity. And witness the coronation of a Roman emperor. A well-conceived and imaginative novel of the late antiquity period, The Last Emperor of Rome delves into the political, religious, and military turmoil of this frantic time. Although it was the end of a way of life, the events portrayed in this novel opened the door to something new and powerful. The reverberations are still felt today.
