  • - An Unauthorized Biography of Judge Joseph Slagle
    av Gary Thomas
    305,-

The notorious Judge Joseph Slagle was feared, reclusive, and wealthy. And he was implicated in the first recorded murder in Livingston County, Missouri-his own brother-in-law. Slagle was also known for creating a private burying ground, surrounded by a high brick wall, that is said to be haunted by the spirits of his four brides-seemingly healthy young women who died inexplicably and were buried without ceremony. Yet no one stepped forward, fearing they, too, might suffer grave consequences... Judge Joe Slagle stories have been told in Livingston County for generations. For many locals, Joe was a "Boogeyman" for children and a "Bluebeard" for adults, and his well-documented, perplexing pattern of behavior for over a decade was tough to reconcile with someone who claimed to be innocent of any wrongdoing. The Four Consorts of Joseph Slagle exposes the secrets he tried so hard to protect and sheds light on the man who instilled such fear and suspicion among his neighbors.

The Story of Anna Natasha Lee... Anna and Hotshot become fast friends while living the college experience and partying as hard as possible. In this whirlwind story, the two make other friends, go to class, and try to hold on to their scholarships in between liquor runs. Along the way they learn about friendship, love, and-most importantly-vengeance. Set in the late 1990s with the backdrop thereof, Dreaming of Frozen Years is an odd tale about class war and coming of age in an era when everyone is expected to grow up as stand-alone anachronisms in a decade known for idealizing its youth.

I had heard enough and said, "OK Tom, we can change the subject." He replied, "I'm sorry J'nell. it's just not often I'm surprised, but twice now you've surprised me. Big time. I'll now keep waiting for the next big surprise." I gave him a slow smile, and said, "Well, don't look now, but you are going to get one right now. Tom, I want you to take me back to my hotel, and I want you to make slow, hot love to me." He sat frozen, with his mouth half open. He glanced around the café at the other diners to see if any of them had heard me. When he determined, none had, he motioned for Mable and asked for the tab. She handed it to him, he looked at it, pulled his wallet out, slipped her a fifty-dollar bill and told her to keep the change. He stood, took my hand and led me out of the restaurant and to his cruiser. He carefully drove back to the Holiday Inn, helped me out of the cruiser and into the hotel lobby. He hit the up arrow for the elevator, and as we got in, he asked which floor. I leaned over, hit the button for the fourth floor, and as soon as the doors closed, Tom was all over me. His kiss began soft and sweet and soon became urgent and demanding. When the elevator doors opened, I handed Tom the room key and he led me to four twenty-two. Once in the room, Tom was trying to take it slow. I could tell his excitement was building, and finally, we ended up making love half clothed. The next round was completely naked and much slower.Later, we took a shower together. I phoned Mother and asked if she needed anything. I could hear a smile in her voice as she told me she was good and for me to enjoy myself. When I hung up the receiver, Tom asked if I needed to go back to the hospital. I crawled up the bed beside him, and said, "No, Mother told me to enjoy myself." At eight that evening, we ordered hamburgers, fries and ice tea from room service and made love again while we waited. After we had finished the burgers, we slept. I woke at two o'clock, and Tom was propp

An advocate for advanced surgical instrument processing education, Francis has developed the simplest and most accurate mathematical formula to compute staffing needs in surgical instrument processing departments. He coined the term sterile forensics and developed its methodology to identify, classify and resolve instrument processing issues. As founder of The Consortium of Sterile Sciences, he invented innovative products, software and published author for several decades.Francis conducted research to prove that surgical count sheets shed fine paper and ink particles upon instruments and implants, when exposed to the high temperatures of steam sterilization. Which inspired medical centers to isolate surgical count sheets from surgical instruments by making use of surgical count sheet holders such as the Alma Sac. He also coined and defined sterile sciences and open doors for sterile processing professionals to at last pursue degree programs in surgical instrument processing.

Have you ever wondered if God loved you? My children's book The Luv of God is based upon a centuries old Jewish poem called Hadamut written by Rabbi Mayer in 1096. A poem that speaks of a miracle. Some say that the miracle happened almost a thousand years ago when a King ordered a Jewish songwriter to composed the poem lyrics to defend his faith and escape the genocide of his community. Others explain that the real miracle was the giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mt Sinai. Still there are others who say no one will ever know what the real miracle was. It is also interesting to note that the third stanza of the Jewish poem was found scribbled on a wall of a patients room in an insane asylum. A further testimony of God's comfort and love in our darkest moments of life. And since 1917 when a Gentile songwriter F.M. Lehman put the poem to music, it has been a beloved hymn in churches around the world. This easy to understand and beautifully illustrated book is sure to capture the hearts of children, and strengthen their faith with the knowledge that God loves them very much.

Malcolm McGowan is an unemployed former student who has become so bored with life that he conjures up a scheme, simplistic at that, to purloin a Van Gogh masterpiece From the Institute of Art in Minneapolis just after 9-11. His dreaded enemy, Cecil, has just moved in with the woman of his dreams, so to impress 'Lucina' one afternoon he crashes through the third story window and onto a tree below with the painting and totes it back to his apartment several blocks away. Soon thereafter, a tiny figure appears from underneath an olive tree on the painting and coalesces into the ghostly figure of Vincent Van Gogh. He demands McGowan go back outside and scour the landscape for a tiny paint chip he scraped off the painting during the robbery. Much of the book ponders the psychological ramifications of committing a crime of this magnitude, while McGowan scrambles about trying to figure out a way to undo the legal mess he's gotten himself into. One of the characters, in Edgar Allan Poe fashion, is an umbrella bird that ultimately serves to redeem him from the crime.
